The divisions on the right only come out when you have a vote on like funding a new baseball stadium or something - the pro-business conservatives are on board because they love welfare for the rich, the deep reactionaries are opposed because taxes are inherently evil, the libertarians split the difference depending on what the taxes are.

I absolutely agree that it is insane. But I'm also going to venture that no one in this administration or at ICE gives one flying fig about how much a student may have paid for their classes.

The order concerning foreign students in the USA revolts me but does not surprise me. I have been advising students to avoid going to the USA for some time. This may get the message through. It is not a safe place.

xp that's the thing they're trying to communicate. i don't think they care about whether campuses reopen this year, or whether these specific students go home. they are trying to diminish campuses as 1) a place where "liberals" are created 2) a route through which people enter the US. anything that creates uncertainty this year is good for _years_ of uncertainty.

this is the least important thing right now but how are you supposed to use your school's libraries, archives, laboratories, whatever else a grad student needs if you are in your home country? it's like these people don't know what school is.

HRC tried as hard as she could to publicize Trump's business frauds and failures. It made no difference. By now everyone on earth has seen enough of him and they know just where they stand, pro or con; nothing Biden does or says will alter that. His campaign tweets out that he's a negligent idiot every day. If he trotted onto his porch and said it twice a week, the media would soon get bored and wander off. He doesn't put on the kind of non-stop dog and pony show they're used to from Trump. Pulling any sort of attention to herself was a primary problem for HRC in 2016.
