6650. Guy behind me had 5550 but at one point his weekly running total was on the order of 9000 XP.

Ooft, amazing! I might see if I can at least get up to the Diamond League in the next few weeks.

If I look at my XPs in the past week I had two days at about 740, two near 1110, two near 1480, the other is not showing, you can do the math.

Barry "Fatha" Hines (James Redd and the Blecchs), Monday, 22 June 2020 18:00 (five years ago)

My toughest competition this week did 4500 XPs last week.

Barry "Fatha" Hines (James Redd and the Blecchs), Monday, 22 June 2020 19:06 (five years ago)

But he’s already got 2200 today.

Barry "Fatha" Hines (James Redd and the Blecchs), Monday, 22 June 2020 22:27 (five years ago)

Came to post: un sac, una borsa

Barry "Fatha" Hines (James Redd and the Blecchs), Monday, 22 June 2020 22:27 (five years ago)

Nice

Joey Corona (Euler), Monday, 22 June 2020 22:45 (five years ago)

I caught up to that other guy after he went to sleep and then some but feel a little strange about it. We’ll see what he does overnight.

Barry "Fatha" Hines (James Redd and the Blecchs), Tuesday, 23 June 2020 03:11 (five years ago)

an endless game of tit-for-tat

j., Tuesday, 23 June 2020 03:53 (five years ago)

Like Danny DeVito and Richard Dreyfuss in Tin Men.

Barry "Fatha" Hines (James Redd and the Blecchs), Tuesday, 23 June 2020 03:55 (five years ago)

Euler did we do
la torta, le gâteau
yet?

Barry "Fatha" Hines (James Redd and the Blecchs), Tuesday, 23 June 2020 23:47 (five years ago)

No but it’s another good one

Joey Corona (Euler), Tuesday, 23 June 2020 23:51 (five years ago)

Those things cause more of a brain freeze than I would have imagined

Barry "Fatha" Hines (James Redd and the Blecchs), Wednesday, 24 June 2020 00:18 (five years ago)

Finnish!

brain (krakow), Wednesday, 24 June 2020 10:53 (five years ago)

Wow

Barry "Fatha" Hines (James Redd and the Blecchs), Wednesday, 24 June 2020 11:04 (five years ago)

Kiitos

Barry "Fatha" Hines (James Redd and the Blecchs), Wednesday, 24 June 2020 11:09 (five years ago)

Could be fun, I spend a lot of time there.

Joey Corona (Euler), Wednesday, 24 June 2020 12:18 (five years ago)

At first glance this looks better than the dreaded Hungarian course.

Barry "Fatha" Hines (James Redd and the Blecchs), Wednesday, 24 June 2020 15:00 (five years ago)

Also if my Swiss Diamond Duolingo rival really wants to put in another 3K XP day today to improve his English he can have the number one spot this week.

Barry "Fatha" Hines (James Redd and the Blecchs), Wednesday, 24 June 2020 15:16 (five years ago)

Enjoying starting this Finnish course. Let’s see if I can pace myself and balance it out with Drops and such so I can remember what I learn/pvmic

Barry "Fatha" Hines (James Redd and the Blecchs), Wednesday, 24 June 2020 23:25 (five years ago)

Always kind of a weird feeling going through a new course and not seeing any comments

Barry "Fatha" Hines (James Redd and the Blecchs), Thursday, 25 June 2020 00:09 (five years ago)

My friend finished the day up 4K XP.

Barry "Fatha" Hines (James Redd and the Blecchs), Thursday, 25 June 2020 01:37 (five years ago)

i'm just aiming for 15

j., Thursday, 25 June 2020 01:44 (five years ago)

I actually have my daily goal set to 10

Barry "Fatha" Hines (James Redd and the Blecchs), Thursday, 25 June 2020 02:56 (five years ago)

Inspired by yourself and Euler I'm managing 100XP a day this week so far.

brain (krakow), Thursday, 25 June 2020 10:28 (five years ago)

Good luck! Don't burn yourself out!

This guy was the real deal: https://www.nytimes.com/2020/06/24/science/robert-laughlin-preserver-of-a-mayan-language-dies-at-85.html

Barry "Fatha" Hines (James Redd and the Blecchs), Thursday, 25 June 2020 12:27 (five years ago)

Guys, remember when they used stock photos instead of um, cartoons, for some of the images?

Barry "Fatha" Hines (James Redd and the Blecchs), Thursday, 25 June 2020 14:05 (five years ago)

I do not

Joey Corona (Euler), Thursday, 25 June 2020 14:06 (five years ago)

I found one in a screenshot the other day

Barry "Fatha" Hines (James Redd and the Blecchs), Thursday, 25 June 2020 14:13 (five years ago)

Here is an old thread discussing this from before our Duolingo time.

Barry "Fatha" Hines (James Redd and the Blecchs), Thursday, 25 June 2020 14:16 (five years ago)

I had a streak of over a year and used it most every day from fall 2013 to spring 2015. But I just don't remember pictures or not.

Joey Corona (Euler), Thursday, 25 June 2020 14:33 (five years ago)

Depends on which course you use, I think. French course gets a lot of attention and was updated enough times that the stock photos may have been gone already.

Barry "Fatha" Hines (James Redd and the Blecchs), Thursday, 25 June 2020 14:43 (five years ago)

Having come back after a long pause, I'm happy that they removed the gradual decay of competence in the nodes. That element made using it stressful enough that it was a relief to finish the tree & quit. The leaderboards aren't as stressful, because I don't care, especially since bots seem to be involved.

Joey Corona (Euler), Thursday, 25 June 2020 14:56 (five years ago)

Oh I hated that decay, you are otm about that. Right, leader boards you can take or leave. I wanted to win that one badge, now that I have it I can walk away.

Barry "Fatha" Hines (James Redd and the Blecchs), Thursday, 25 June 2020 16:28 (five years ago)

Was reminded recently that there were some languages that had their half-life set way too aggressive because I saw that I have a ton of points in Portuguese and Welsh from back when I was taking the Keep the Tree Gold advice seriously. I am still only a few checkpoints in on the latter language.

Barry "Fatha" Hines (James Redd and the Blecchs), Thursday, 25 June 2020 16:33 (five years ago)

yeah ugh

Joey Corona (Euler), Thursday, 25 June 2020 16:34 (five years ago)

I finished Swedish and now it's just asking me to review stuff, so I've switched to Norwegian.

but also fuck you (unperson), Thursday, 25 June 2020 16:35 (five years ago)

can you converse in Swedish yet? probably depends on whether you have swedish conversational opportunities but

Joey Corona (Euler), Thursday, 25 June 2020 16:37 (five years ago)

I can form complete sentences in my head with relative ease, and read the Swedish Twitter accounts I follow and other written things.

but also fuck you (unperson), Thursday, 25 June 2020 16:41 (five years ago)

nice

Joey Corona (Euler), Thursday, 25 June 2020 16:49 (five years ago)

You should do the Swedish tree from Spanish now!

Barry "Fatha" Hines (James Redd and the Blecchs), Thursday, 25 June 2020 16:49 (five years ago)

Hi James Redd,
Thank you for suggesting “Mi lacas ege post la maratono sed mi fieras ke mi sukcesis” as a translation for “I am extremely tired after the marathon, but I am proud that I succeeded.”. We now accept this translation!

Duolingo keeps getting better thanks to language lovers like you. We really appreciate your help!

Barry "Fatha" Hines (James Redd and the Blecchs), Thursday, 25 June 2020 16:50 (five years ago)

Will be interesting to see if you can keep the Norwegian and Swedish straight or start mixing them together.

I recommend the Norwegian Folktales (eventyr) by Asbjørnsen and Moe.
