That's rubbish. The fulcrum of British psychedelic jazz in the 70s.

calzino, Sunday, 14 June 2020 20:08 (three years ago) link

I saw it posted by Leonard "Moonjune" Pavkovic on fb.

R.I.P. one of the all time piano geniuses, the British jazz icon Keith Tippett. Just heard a very sad news from my friend Riccardo Bergerone from Torino, who is Keith Tippett's friend for over 4 decades, confirmed by Keith's daughter Inca and his wife Julie. Keith unfortunately died 3 hours ago.

nickn, Sunday, 14 June 2020 20:19 (three years ago) link

RIP Keith. Saw him play maybe 10 years ago - looked exectly the same as he did in the 70s!

he had an impressive mane to be sure.

RIP Keith, another King Crimson alumnus gone. Centipede's "Septober Energy" double album is an endless classic, and an unbelievable who's who of 1970s Brit jazz.

There was a Motorcycle Boy reissue last year, and an interview with ex-members saying they'd been trying to track her down. I can only assume she had no contact with anyone from that scene from the '90s onward and so there were no connections left for this news to get out? So strange.

Michael Jones, Wednesday, 17 June 2020 10:26 (three years ago) link

shocked to find no Keith Tippett thread on ILM

Reminds me of no one knowing the whereabouts of Chris Dean from The Redskins.

Alba, Wednesday, 17 June 2020 11:05 (three years ago) link

yes i hunted for chris dean aka x.moore for a week or three last year bcz i was scanning and posting his nme pieces on the miners' strike and i felt i shd ask permission -- nothing concrete tho

the closest i got was info that another nme writer of that period who i was close had died recently but this turned out to be false (possibly maliciously)

so in conclusion
