have never understood the appeal of delicious library. If I want to know what I have, I look at the actual shelves. And it's not like I'm running a lending library, here.

Actually cataloging took no time at all... The barcode lookup feature makes cataloging a box of books go by very fast.

it's nice to be alerted when you get an email instead of parsing the email application or waiting for it to check every 15 minutes?

i guess this makes sense for people with like jobs, and who get email that is timely and important. if i had this application i would've gotten like fifteen beeps or whatever about funny pics of someone's newborn baby or about my friend's ~dramatic~ sex life

Forgive my noviceness, but does iPhone have infrared capabilities, and if so is there an app to enable you to use it as remote for tv, cd player, amp, DVD etc?

Nope, no IR. Plenty of remote control apps but they're pretty much all wifi based.

Bummer.

Civilization Revolution for iPhone now too! Pity I recently bought it for DS (though it's probably less cramped on DS). I'm still waiting hopefully for Catan.
