have never understood the appeal of delicious library. If I want to know what I have, I look at the actual shelves. And it's not like I'm running a lending library, here.

loving the price erosion on games tht's led to a new 0.59p standard
― cozwn, Tuesday, 30 June 2009 07:34 (seventeen years ago)
^^^the perfect price for an iphone app imo, anything else is too much
― cozwn, Tuesday, 30 June 2009 07:35 (seventeen years ago)
Actually cataloging took no time at all... The barcode lookup feature makes cataloging a box of books go by very fast.

About time:http://www.techcrunch.com/2009/07/07/push-gmail-comes-to-the-iphone-%E2%80%94-through-an-app-if-its-accepted/
But, come on, I need to pay for this?!
― baaderonixx, Tuesday, 7 July 2009 12:29 (sixteen years ago)
it's .99 cents.
― cutty, Tuesday, 7 July 2009 13:37 (sixteen years ago)
why does anyone really need it
― bentley cadence (gbx), Tuesday, 7 July 2009 16:15 (sixteen years ago)
it's nice to be alerted when you get an email instead of parsing the email application or waiting for it to check every 15 minutes?
― cutty, Tuesday, 7 July 2009 16:33 (sixteen years ago)
same problem as w/all these sorts of things -- not giving my Google account login to some random joe.
― stet, Tuesday, 7 July 2009 16:34 (sixteen years ago)
why dont you trust ice cr?m
― rip dom passantino 3/5/09 never forget (max), Tuesday, 7 July 2009 16:34 (sixteen years ago)
yeah i suppose
i guess this makes sense for people with like jobs, and who get email that is timely and important. if i had this application i would've gotten like fifteen beeps or whatever about funny pics of someone's newborn baby or about my friend's ~dramatic~ sex life
― bentley cadence (gbx), Tuesday, 7 July 2009 16:37 (sixteen years ago)
i guess you've never owned a blackberry
― cutty, Tuesday, 7 July 2009 16:49 (sixteen years ago)
my girlfriend would kill me within a day after i got this application
― rip dom passantino 3/5/09 never forget (max), Tuesday, 7 July 2009 17:02 (sixteen years ago)
yeah the fact that i get email on my phone at all is novelty enough atm

Forgive my noviceness, but does iPhone have infrared capabilities, and if so is there an app to enable you to use it as remote for tv, cd player, amp, DVD etc?
― Sickamous Mouthall (Scik Mouthy), Saturday, 11 July 2009 06:56 (sixteen years ago)
Nope, no IR. Plenty of remote control apps but they're pretty much all wifi based.
― JimD, Saturday, 11 July 2009 07:08 (sixteen years ago)
Bummer.
― Sickamous Mouthall (Scik Mouthy), Saturday, 11 July 2009 08:58 (sixteen years ago)
you can use it to view the infrared spectrum of light tho and see ghosts

Message for Elvis Telecom: any news from your pal about a NetNewsWire update? It's so crash-happy and unstable these days that I'm considering ditching it and going back to the web app.
― a tiny, faltering megaphone (grimly fiendish), Thursday, 16 July 2009 10:01 (sixteen years ago)
(Which is a shame, because it's the one app I use every single day ... it just seems unable to handle the number of feeds I've got now.)
― a tiny, faltering megaphone (grimly fiendish), Thursday, 16 July 2009 10:02 (sixteen years ago)
it STILL doesnt work!?!?

Byline is pretty damn good now
― stet, Thursday, 16 July 2009 13:00 (sixteen years ago)
I know. But -- as we've discussed! -- I want to carry on using NNW on the desktop, 'cos it's absolutely ideal.
Apparently there's a new iPhone version in the pipeline. Hey ho.
― a tiny, faltering megaphone (grimly fiendish), Thursday, 16 July 2009 13:19 (sixteen years ago)
(FWIW: occasionally nuking the iPhone app and reinstalling makes it a lot happier for a while, but come on ... that isn't really how these things should work.)

I had just convinced myself that I was going to get a Mac and the iPhone app SDK so I could build a World of Warcraft achievement viewer app and what happens? Blizzard announces a full ARMORY application that covers exactly what I was going to do.

Civilization Revolution for iPhone now too! Pity I recently bought it for DS (though it's probably less cramped on DS). I'm still waiting hopefully for Catan.
