German playwright Rolf Hochhuth has died at the age of 89. Started off writing plays that criticised Pope Pius XII's indifference to Hitler's extermination of the Jews, ended up calling David Irving a "pioneer of modern history who has written magnificent books".

I just might agree with you there.

In other news, I learned the error of my ways and when a friend posted about Astrid Kirchherr on social media I responded with a sad emoji and left it at that.

Louder Than Bach's Bottom (James Redd and the Blecchs), Saturday, 16 May 2020 02:06 (six years ago)

Oh wait, I also said something about Klaus Voormann. I guess more work is needed.

Jorge Santana backing Cheo Feliciano on “El Ratón” with the Fania All-Stars is a fucking amazing salsa-blues-rock jam. And yeah, Malo deserved way more love than they got.

I hope you didn't think I was tutting at you. The lol RIP made me laugh.

Alba, Saturday, 16 May 2020 02:29 (six years ago)

Sorry, wasn’t sure. Didn’t really think so, but old habits of defensiveness die hard.

Louder Than Bach's Bottom (James Redd and the Blecchs), Saturday, 16 May 2020 19:04 (six years ago)

Damn, Willard was still doing bits on Kimmel earlier this year...

Fuck. Lynn Shelton?? Wow. That is shocking.
Love her work.

terminators of endearment (VegemiteGrrl), Saturday, 16 May 2020 19:17 (six years ago)

My Fred Willard story as such: so I'm at the theater seeing A Mighty Wind on its run, a few days after release. Full crowd, we're all enjoying ourselves, it's great, plenty of laughs. Then Fred Willard's amazing mug appears on the screen for the first time -- nobody knows anything about his character or what the heck he'll end up doing nearly stealing the whole damn film away from everyone else -- and *immediately* the entire place amps up from an already high level, we're laughing before his character gets even a word out, practically. What a comic genius.

Ned Raggett, Saturday, 16 May 2020 20:19 (six years ago)

Ah man I thought Fred Willard was a lot younger than 86, and yeah, amazing in everything

or something, Saturday, 16 May 2020 20:34 (six years ago)

seen him as 80 on wiki so...?

spruce springclean (darraghmac), Saturday, 16 May 2020 20:45 (six years ago)

Huh, his daughter tweeted that he was 86.

It is with a heavy heart that I share the news my father passed away very peacefully last night at the fantastic age of 86 years old. He kept moving, working and making us happy until the very end.We loved him so very much!
We will miss him forever.

— Hope Willard (@Mulbytime7) May 16, 2020

But in this clip he says he was born in 1939: https://interviews.televisionacademy.com/interviews/fred-willard?clip=72743#interview-clips

jaymc, Saturday, 16 May 2020 21:19 (six years ago)

Must have been that age-reduction surgery...

"...And the Gods Socially Distanced" (C. Grisso/McCain), Saturday, 16 May 2020 21:22 (six years ago)

Yes, people lie about their age.

Regardless, RIP Fred Willard. Next time you watch Best In Show, count the amount of times he makes his co-star Jim Piddock nearly (or fully a couple times) break character.

Jersey Al (Albert R. Broccoli), Saturday, 16 May 2020 21:23 (six years ago)

It’s like. Every single thing he says.
