"it is essential that we both wear identical elephant costumes" - good line. But I didn't even understand the July 18 strip.

I am not buying into this erotica subplot.

Y'know, I realized that When your not reading half a years worth of strips in 2 days, reading these storylines as they go along is pretty tedious, or is this one just bad (which i think it probably is).
― EDB, Thursday, 23 July 2009 03:15 (sixteen years ago)
he doesn't pre-plan his storylines and the results are occasionally magical and often disappointing.
― call all destroyer, Thursday, 23 July 2009 03:21 (sixteen years ago)
i'm just confused as to why you would spend years developing these v. complete characters and then basically not challenge them in any way.

Is it bad if I get what's going on? I'm kind of thinking they'll resolve the Teodor writing battle thing off-panel later.
― mh, Tuesday, 18 August 2009 20:37 (sixteen years ago)
been trying to get with this storyline but on some level i've already checked out, the returns on reading this have been diminishing for some time now sadly
― there is no there there (elmo argonaut), Tuesday, 18 August 2009 20:45 (sixteen years ago)
I have high hopes for the resolution on this one. Forreal.
― The Lash of Thanatos (B.L.A.M.), Tuesday, 18 August 2009 21:01 (sixteen years ago)
This always seems shit if I follow it 1 strip at a time, but what made me like Achewood in the first place was the cumulative effect of reading the archive about 50 strips at a time. That way the more nothing-y strips just fill in the gaps between lols without being a a dissapointment. Not to say I don't think the quality has declined.
― 60 watt, Tuesday, 18 August 2009 21:29 (sixteen years ago)
some good moments but no way is this building to a good resolution.
― call all destroyer, Tuesday, 18 August 2009 21:49 (sixteen years ago)
i was down with the Teodor battle-writing catalogue erotica, sadly it does seem to be aborted
― Nhex, Tuesday, 18 August 2009 22:05 (sixteen years ago)
I was thinking this was going to be a kind of lazy way of getting Teodor somewhere in life, but now this has taken an unexpected turn or three.

i think bummed out is a perfectly legit reaction; it wasn't really meant as a complaint about onstad's skills, of which this last plotline is a pretty good reaction

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/5/5a/Garfield_1989-10-27_right_panel.png
One storyline, which ran the week before Halloween in 1989 (Oct 23 to Oct 28), is unique among Garfield strips in that it is not meant to be humorous. It depicts Garfield awakening in a future in which the house is abandoned and he no longer exists. In tone and imagery the storyline for this series of strips is very similar to the animation segment for Valse Triste from Allegro non troppo, which depicts a ghostly cat roaming around the ruins of the home it once inhabited.
There was some speculation on the internet about what these strips meant[57], including the possibility that Garfield was either dead or starving to death in an abandoned house, imagining future strips in a state of denial.
