I rarely tweet but last night I referred to a surgery I had performed in a hospital that's currently being demolished in my city...
This morning, the tweet has disappeared as well as all the replies/conversations with it. No warning or comment, just nuked without trace.
I used the word "guts" in place of "internal organs", which might have triggered something in their internal sentiment analysis but holy crap what a garbage platform. I admit, I've been using it more in quarantine, but I feel ready to move on to the next garbage platform concocted by another shitty technology company.

are you banned/suspended? could it have been deleted for political reasons or just some arbitrary moderation bullshit
twitter is dud for banning me for saying fuck off to the wrong person after telling me blatantly antisemitic & homophobic abuse doesn’t violate their rules. jack dorsey is a nazi coddling fuck
― fuck it (Left), Wednesday, 29 April 2020 17:42 (four years ago) link
Not banned, just my tweet & subsequent tweet-replies/children/convos were all nuked without any notification. I went to my friends pages who had replied and all instances of their replies have also vanished.
I have been banned/twitter-jailed for 48 hours for posting Drive Like Jehu lyrics to accompany live video I took of them performing said song: https://genius.com/Drive-like-jehu-luau-lyrics
...but that process was really clear and direct. This seems way more shady and for not even a clear reason. Makes me wonder how often they shadow-censor people who tweet far more often than i do?

― Jersey Al (Albert R. Broccoli), Wednesday, 29 April 2020 18:58 (four years ago) link
That seems like a glitch? As far as I know, Twitter doesn’t just delete tweets and threads, it only does suspensions/bans and locks accounts until offending tweets are removed by the user unless you’re in Germany or w/e and some content is completely unviewable but still present

I mean it is clear that he was already a prick before this, think this video gives you a good idea of why the Twitter virus has destroyed him - he was already a bit of a prick, of the sort who wants to aggressively debate everyone and can't be told he's wrong - just took a case where he needed to apologise for a little thing to break his brain.

Think lots of creatives are like this, ironically for someone who claims to be a feminist, it's very much a toxic masculinity thing.

I still do 99% of my twitter interaction through Tweetbot on my phone or iPad and it just shows tweets from people I follow, or their retweets, in chronological order
that'll probably disappear someday, but literally no sponsored tweets, no weird ordering or promoting popular content, just a good ol' stream of tweets

jack can implement that. but the catch is that now you must click the setting to permanently switch it to latest tweets...every two days

what we need is a new push notification every two days to remind us to switch it to latest tweets. and in that notification, they might as well go ahead and embed some top tweets, since you're already looking

McDonald's has a really rude bot. I posted a really, really old McDonald's commercial to YouTube. I didn't even criticize McDonald's. I didn't use a hashtag. There wasn't even the word "McDonald's" in my tweet. All I said was that their fries have changed dramatically over the years. And I get this bot tweet, "please fill out this form with your concerns". How Orwellian and creepy.

switching on and off the algorithm taught me that the difference between 'latest tweets' and algo is minimal. also, if u folllow ppl from the uk or australia, the algo shows you their best tweets in the morning

There is a thing going on right now where kpop fans flood racist hashtags with their ubiquitous "kpop stars dancing" gifs.
https://news.avclub.com/k-pop-fans-are-now-hard-at-work-commandeering-racist-ha-1843880487
Now please tell me if I'm wrong here, but doesn't flooding a hashtag actually make it trend? So what they are doing is actually bumping racist hashtags AND subjecting us to more of those inexplicable gifs? Am I wrong about this or is it actually as stupid as I think?

I still use the website and have set it to show Berlin trends and saw WhiteLivesMatter at the top of that list earlier - didn't actually click it just assumed it was 20% bot stampede and 80% horrified reaction.

was it though? it suddenly appeared right at the top of my trending topics and was already full of the gifs. I guess perhaps it was pushed up there by bots or w/e in one location, then the flooding made it trend everywhere.
