but was there jizz in the box or just the cash?

sarahell, Wednesday, 8 April 2020 08:28 (six years ago)

i'd say i'm embarrassed for having displayed my boundless ignorance of glaswegian football, but honestly i'm not. if there's a fault here its my having no idea which posters here are american and which are ukian, which i suppose is a fair cop.

an apology is probably due, though, so i hereby apologize.

Kate (rushomancy), Wednesday, 8 April 2020 14:50 (six years ago)

Nah no need Kate imo, esp as it was a 2nd thought! We just like to make kneejerk fun of American myopia, I wasn’t having a go

i like to act genuinely baffled when people tell me to shut the fuck up. like "Huh? But why? The shit i post here helps people, but ok,"

ole uncle tiktok (darraghmac), Wednesday, 8 April 2020 17:09 (six years ago)

the topic seems to often be discussed in absolutes, and I find that confusing/interesting/worth investigating. obviously I don't know how to talk about this stuff.

Οὖτις, Wednesday, 8 April 2020 17:13 (six years ago)

Someone else should try and frame the question.

Frederik B, Wednesday, 8 April 2020 17:14 (six years ago)

Though preferably not poll it.

Frederik B, Wednesday, 8 April 2020 17:14 (six years ago)

No

silby, Wednesday, 8 April 2020 17:37 (six years ago)

Thoughtlording on this topic in a forum where 3/4 of the women who made it more vital just a few years ago already have stopped posting is not something we need

silby, Wednesday, 8 April 2020 17:38 (six years ago)

Thank you, silby!

extremely Dutch coughing sound (gyac), Wednesday, 8 April 2020 17:41 (six years ago)

what is thoughtlording

Οὖτις, Wednesday, 8 April 2020 17:41 (six years ago)

(google not turning up anything but... ilx posts)

Οὖτις, Wednesday, 8 April 2020 17:41 (six years ago)

it's not that it's a bad conversation to have even as provocatively stated as it is it's that ilx (and any "public forum") is not the right place to have it

Mordy, Wednesday, 8 April 2020 17:41 (six years ago)

you know that dumb anecdote about the fish, where the punchline is "what is water?"

silby, Wednesday, 8 April 2020 17:42 (six years ago)

It’s not actually necessary to have public opinions about everything.

Greta Van Show Feets BB (milo z), Wednesday, 8 April 2020 17:42 (six years ago)

I feel like the question has an answer I'm supposed to know, but I'm not allowed to ask it, and discussing it is verboten

I do not know the fish joke, no

xps

Οὖτις, Wednesday, 8 April 2020 17:42 (six years ago)

i agree - ppl should spend more time choosing their shots when they express a public opinion. good questions to ask before doing so "what do i aim to accomplish from this" "will this benefit people reading it"

Mordy, Wednesday, 8 April 2020 17:43 (six years ago)

shakey the answer is that it is too case dependent to give a binary answer but getting into the weeds is where all the bitterness and mess is and i don't feel confident in ilx's ability to discuss it really. nb i wouldn't have blocked the thread bc "free speech ethics" but i 100% understand the reason for doing so

Mordy, Wednesday, 8 April 2020 17:44 (six years ago)

there seems to be some disagreement about it being case dependent afaict. as well as what the criteria are for evaluating cases are or should be.

but yeah what is this accomplishing, I'm not learning anything and ppl are jumping all over me so .... anyway.

Οὖτις, Wednesday, 8 April 2020 17:47 (six years ago)

I mean, if it's case dependent, then the binary answer is clearly 'no' :)

Frederik B, Wednesday, 8 April 2020 17:50 (six years ago)

you’re so astoundingly fucking dumb, it just fills me with rage

budo jeru, Wednesday, 8 April 2020 18:29 (six years ago)

I really don’t care what either of you have to say at this point

silby, Wednesday, 8 April 2020 18:31 (six years ago)

can you answer my questions tho

Οὖτις, Wednesday, 8 April 2020 18:48 (six years ago)

I'm just trying to understand where you're coming from

Οὖτις, Wednesday, 8 April 2020 18:48 (six years ago)

btw if there’s a conversation going on in here (?) i’m not trying to be part of it and my re-directed anger post has nothing to do with ... whatever is going on over here

budo jeru, Wednesday, 8 April 2020 18:55 (six years ago)

I don't get what you mean, but I assume you're saying you were mad at me because of what I wrote about Godard

Frederik B, Wednesday, 8 April 2020 18:57 (six years ago)

It’s not actually necessary to have public opinions about everything.

Man saying this in one post and then following by giving your base reductive answer to that fucking stupid thread in one line is pure chef's kiss.

xyzzzz__, Wednesday, 8 April 2020 20:14 (six years ago)

base reductive answer of it's murky?

Meh, you could just as easily (and probably more accurately) say elderly voters or voters who identify as moderate or conservative made him the candidate.

the age divide was more significant than anything else here.

treeship., Thursday, 9 April 2020 13:57 (six years ago)

iirc african american voters under 30 did *not* prefer Biden so maybe we can drop this trope?

Yanni Xenakis (Hadrian VIII), Thursday, 9 April 2020 14:27 (six years ago)

in reference to the actual discussion here...

y'all guys got shit you need to figure out, if part of that process is asking "yeah but how much do we need to listen to and respect women _really_?" i understand that, no for real i do, if that's what you need to do to get past this fucking Italian Spiderman approach to women, do it. i will also respect you less and will feel less comfortable communicating in an environment where y'all are still discussing the "woman question" from the 1890s.

i'm sorry for the Italian Spiderman reference, i know that one is kind of obscure
