i agree - ppl should spend more time choosing their shots when they express a public opinion. good questions to ask before doing so "what do i aim to accomplish from this" "will this benefit people reading it"

shakey the answer is that it is too case dependent to give a binary answer but getting into the weeds is where all the bitterness and mess is and i don't feel confident in ilx's ability to discuss it really. nb i wouldn't have blocked the thread bc "free speech ethics" but i 100% understand the reason for doing so

there seems to be some disagreement about it being case dependent afaict. as well as what the criteria are for evaluating cases are or should be.
