Just so y'all know, I am not *bleaching* my fucking *vegetables*. And neither are 5 or 6 billion other people.

The Online Perfection Squad is insane.

Should you choose to do so, don't before bed.

yeah I wouldn't dilute water/bleach my vegetables either. but I am washing them super well if I plan to eat them raw. My mom has been yelling at me for years to do that anyway since she thinks all the vegetables in grocery stores are trash.

Yerac, Sunday, 29 March 2020 02:52 (six years ago)

i do hope everyone finally stopped wearing their shoes in the house.

Yerac, Sunday, 29 March 2020 02:56 (six years ago)

and not being a control freak/moron, i'm not doing it xxxxp

The arugula in a plastic container I bought last week says "washed 3x for your protection." I'll be a trusting soul.

brooklyn suicide cult (Dr Morbius), Sunday, 29 March 2020 02:56 (six years ago)

oh yeah, stuff that is sealed and already washed is fine.

Yerac, Sunday, 29 March 2020 02:58 (six years ago)

Shoes:

Well, I don't have a house, I have a 4th-floor apartment in Brooklyn. Every time I leave it, I spray a soapy solution on em, wipe, and leave em outside for maybe 40 minutes. Then I take em in and keep em near the door, because EVENTUALLY SOMEONE WILL TAKE MY ONLY PAIR OF WALKING SHOES.

brooklyn suicide cult (Dr Morbius), Sunday, 29 March 2020 02:59 (six years ago)

many of these universal guidelines are useless for Gothamites

brooklyn suicide cult (Dr Morbius), Sunday, 29 March 2020 03:00 (six years ago)

no i meant taking your shoes off when you enter you abode. I don't leave my shoes outside my apt. although we did have an apt one floor down that always left their shoes outside the door and it was super annoying because it was right at the top of the stairs. Someone finally stole a pair of their shoes and they put signs up everywhere about it but dude... seriously.

Yerac, Sunday, 29 March 2020 03:02 (six years ago)

the dude seriously is for the guy that had nice shoes in a size 12, that was just begging for someone to take them.

and I'm just saying that people that wear shoes in their homes have always been weird to me. outside has always been gross.

Yerac, Sunday, 29 March 2020 03:04 (six years ago)

oh yeah, I have a pair of holey falling-apart slippers that I wear in the apartment. Shoulda bought that $20 pair I saw and put back in January, but didn't expect a quarantine.

brooklyn suicide cult (Dr Morbius), Sunday, 29 March 2020 03:10 (six years ago)

i just wear socks (or barefoot). We didn't even do houseslippers growing up. bad asian.

Yerac, Sunday, 29 March 2020 03:14 (six years ago)

my dad finally got a walker. he's mad. i'm happy

sorry for butt rockin (Neanderthal), Sunday, 29 March 2020 03:29 (six years ago)

A lot of math challenged friends are spreading the false rumor that the stimulus check this year will be offset next year, meaning your tax refund will be decreased 1200 next year.

Guess they don't understand the concept of double dipping or know how a one-time refundable tax credit works. Had to explain that them not giving you the 1200 next year doesn't mean your tax liability is now 1200 dollars higher than it would have been if there was no stimulus.

They're just taking away the bonus 1200 credit because it's money they gave you a year early.

I feel like how I do when explaining why after-tax 401k loan repayments aren't double taxation.

first day back in work after holiday today. p pointless as only around half a dozen flights and the first of them not due to depart until after my shift anyway. apparently we are open tomorrow then perhaps a day or two of mothballing the shops and then being 80 percented for at least a couple of months. more staff than customers in the shop today which was weird. think Boots is the last store standing in departures and the staff there none too happy about it.

oscar bravo, Sunday, 29 March 2020 08:43 (six years ago)

welp. 38.3C fever and a cough. Body feels extremely weird, a combo of super tired and totally buzzed. splitting headaches that go as quickly as they arrived.

thanks. wife has fever as well though not as high. kids fine obviously. strange that after having read approx 500000000 articles about this i now can’t remember the exact instrux for those with symptoms. stay home for 14 days iirc. but... how are we to get food? and.... I’ve read things saying that you’re contagious for three weeks after you stop displaying symptoms so shouldn’t i really be waiting till then?

prefer not to dwell on the potential seriousness of this obv. there is a very low chance it gets significantly worse.

Li'l Brexit (Tracer Hand), Sunday, 29 March 2020 09:44 (six years ago)

is there a hotline you can call? since your health system is better than ours, there’s got to be someone who can clarify things for you fairly quickly

karmic blowback for dissing pip and jane baker (Autumn Almanac), Sunday, 29 March 2020 09:49 (six years ago)

Get on facebook etc and find your community groups. This is when you'll need to ask friends for help bringing groceries etc. How's your freezer/tinned food stocks etc?

If you've been near anyone in the last week or so it's probably fair to let them know you've got symptoms if you can.
Good luck and I hope it's just something mild!

kinder, Sunday, 29 March 2020 09:50 (six years ago)

I know deliveries are probably backed up for weeks but if you can get a food delivery for a week or so you’ll probably appreciate it. Simple nutritious food you can eat a little of.

Teach the kids to make soup.

American Fear of Pranksterism (Ed), Sunday, 29 March 2020 09:55 (six years ago)

we’ve done nothing outside for the last week or so apart from go to the park and get groceries so nobody really to notify.

we’re extremely well stocked thank god. it’s just certain things like fresh fruit & veggies and milk that I’ll need to figure out. yeah all the delivery services are fucked.

weird shit!

Li'l Brexit (Tracer Hand), Sunday, 29 March 2020 09:56 (six years ago)

Anybody in the "bring me soup mfers" thread that's close to you?

koogs, Sunday, 29 March 2020 10:10 (six years ago)

Sorry to hear that Tracer, hope it passes soon. Second koogs, but also, have you any corner shops near you? I hear some of them have been delivering to people who can’t go out.

Non, je ned raggette rien (onimo), Sunday, 29 March 2020 11:16 (six years ago)

Tracer, my exercise for the day was going to be cycling round the borders of Hackney - if you want to send me a shopping list and an address I could get some stuff in for you? Also can I take a minute to talk with you about the good news that is oatmilk? NB I would not actually be talking with you, if you can see my mouth making shapes then something will have gone wrong with the whole plan.

ymo sumac (NickB), Sunday, 29 March 2020 12:05 (six years ago)

Hope you make a swift recovery TH.

For any ilxors in or around Peckham/Camberwell, a local company (Smith & Brock) who usually supply restaurant fruit and veg are doing home deliveries now with about a week's lead time and are really good, and not nearly as expensive as Natoora.

Also just ordered a slab of salt beef from Monty's Deli which is arriving on Tuesday.
