Is the previous one Reading PA and the most recent one Mexico City?
― I_Got_Loaded, Friday, 27 March 2020 13:42 (six years ago)
Reading PA is an excellent guess, 9/10. Its more rural than Reading but only around an hour or so's drive from there.
The second one....you're in the right hemisphere, but its not Mexico
― cherry blossom, Friday, 27 March 2020 13:49 (six years ago)
First very very closer but still not quite over the line
Second needs work to get closer
Third is here

Viña del Mar?
― never have i been a blue calm sea (collardio gelatinous), Thursday, 9 April 2020 18:27 (six years ago)
I've never heard of Viña del Mar and had to google it! I'm not sure which thats a guess for, but its closest to the second one with the blue and yellow houses though still some ways off
― cherry blossom, Thursday, 9 April 2020 18:43 (six years ago)
Oh I misunderstood your instructions. I thought all three were for one city, and I had a hell of a time trying to think of a city that would feature all three scenes. The topography in the third photo is reminiscent of Viña's hilly outskirts (where my mother lives!), and they have views of the Pacific. The first photo had a couple of compatible indicators.
― never have i been a blue calm sea (collardio gelatinous), Thursday, 9 April 2020 18:50 (six years ago)
yeah I think I'm confused as to which pictures are the same city
― COVID and the Gang (jim in vancouver), Thursday, 9 April 2020 18:52 (six years ago)
now I'm not haha
the second one is in Brazil?
― COVID and the Gang (jim in vancouver), Thursday, 9 April 2020 18:53 (six years ago)
I'm gonna wager the second one is Lima, if only for the combination of apparent aridity combined with what looks like persistent cloud cover.
― never have i been a blue calm sea (collardio gelatinous), Thursday, 9 April 2020 19:06 (six years ago)
#2 its not Lima but we're getting in the zone now
― cherry blossom, Thursday, 9 April 2020 19:15 (six years ago)
3 unguessed (though the first is so close I might just give it!) and a now fourth, just trying to get some action going here!

somewhere in NZ, Nelson/Richmond? haven't found the right roundabout yet
― thomasintrouble, Sunday, 12 April 2020 12:43 (six years ago)
other end of the island. Invercargill !
― thomasintrouble, Sunday, 12 April 2020 12:45 (six years ago)
is #1 Gettysburg?
― dip to dup (rob), Sunday, 12 April 2020 12:57 (six years ago)
and let's try Quito for #2
― dip to dup (rob), Sunday, 12 April 2020 13:00 (six years ago)
Invercargill it is, top bins no messing about!
Gettysburg/Quito are both not bad guesses, but both are worse than the previous best guesses of Reading/Lima. Gettysburg is going on wrong direction
― cherry blossom, Sunday, 12 April 2020 13:08 (six years ago)
alright Cusco then
― dip to dup (rob), Sunday, 12 April 2020 13:13 (six years ago)
If Viña del Mar was really close then, unlikely as it seems, is it Valparaiso?
― all the best people go on holiday to Fife (aldo), Sunday, 12 April 2020 13:49 (six years ago)
Lima is the closest so far for #2!
― cherry blossom, Sunday, 12 April 2020 14:01 (six years ago)
Wow... I spent a long time dropping pins on every single Smith & Smith location in New Zealand to try and guess Invercargill.
Oddly enough, I found another place (in Invercargill!) that has a Market South adjacent to a Smith & Smith, on a roundabout:

Great work doo dah! You are now promoted to the first team.
It was indeed Nesquehoning!
― cherry blossom, Sunday, 12 April 2020 15:36 (six years ago)
I spent way too much time looking in Homestead & Braddock!
― bougie white woman (doo dah), Sunday, 12 April 2020 16:12 (six years ago)
You get it from looking for orthodox churches?
― cherry blossom, Sunday, 12 April 2020 16:50 (six years ago)
xp omg YES I see it now, there's ANOTHER roundabout
My Googlemaps tour of NZ showed me a lot of aluminum siding, the entire country looks like suburban Quebec
― we have no stan but to choice (flamboyant goon tie included), Sunday, 12 April 2020 21:13 (six years ago)
XP - yes, though your hint about Biden helped, so I looked for orthodox churches around Scranton.
― bougie white woman (doo dah), Sunday, 12 April 2020 22:47 (six years ago)
that’s impressive doo dah
don't know where that street with blue/tan/white houses is but I like the image
― Dan S, Sunday, 12 April 2020 23:12 (six years ago)
the street is amazing and I'm surprised it's not super easy to find!
― thomasintrouble, Monday, 13 April 2020 09:13 (six years ago)
Trujillo for #2? I can't find the streets but the lighting and some of the architecture look right?
― thomasintrouble, Monday, 13 April 2020 10:06 (six years ago)
Trujillo is definitely close, but not it
No takers for #3 with the tower blocks?
― cherry blossom, Monday, 13 April 2020 11:02 (six years ago)
XP - yes, though your hint about Biden helped,
Impressive, as the comment about Biden was actually a red herring. I was just imagining him hiding in that window, it wasn't a location hint!
― cherry blossom, Monday, 13 April 2020 11:03 (six years ago)
although maybe subconsciously it was!
― cherry blossom, Monday, 13 April 2020 11:04 (six years ago)
Some of the towers are similar in design to ones I saw in Lisbon

Guessing Chimbote or (Nuevo Chimbote) for #2. I've googled pretty much every city in Peru and it seems the most likely
― we have no stan but to choice (flamboyant goon tie included), Monday, 13 April 2020 14:33 (six years ago)
Its Chimbote!

Not at all Euler. The world is your oyster.

Get one in there Euler!
And have a go at NotLisbon Tower Blocks too
― cherry blossom, Monday, 13 April 2020 15:29 (six years ago)
GOD I'm so happy I figured out it was Chimbote
I was confusing which pics were of which city (to be honest). I wouldn't have got Chimbote without other people's guesses of Lima/Trujillo... I was literally googling "fastest growing cities in Peru" just to track down where such commie-looking suburbs might've popped up

Is #3 (not Lisbon) in Turkey?
― we have no stan but to choice (flamboyant goon tie included), Monday, 13 April 2020 21:43 (six years ago)
The minaret suggests "Islamic", it looks too verdant to be Northern Africa, too dry to be India/Bangladesh/Indonesia, too modern to be Middle Eastern, both "new economy" and also "not rich", I actually don't think it's Turkey but think it's a former USSR -stan country
― we have no stan but to choice (flamboyant goon tie included), Monday, 13 April 2020 21:47 (six years ago)
Turkey seems a good bet, Izmir/Smyrna?
― ogmor, Tuesday, 14 April 2020 00:26 (six years ago)
It isn't Izmir.
There's some decent coastline/mountain/terrain info in that last photo!
― cherry blossom, Tuesday, 14 April 2020 09:52 (six years ago)
No takers for NotLisbon (or Izmir)?
