Also, I don’t know anyone else’s family history with the police but every male in my family except me has been in handcuffs and police officers lynched my great-grandfather. I have never nor would I ever hold the opinion that police officers are an unimpeachable good.

silby is a good guy who i would personally be happy to be friends with irl, also i find his posts frequently hilarious. this sort of venting is extremely dramatic but my attitude is less 'FP' and more 'gee whizz', if that isn't too patronising

public law enforcement service in the abstract is a good thing, but as with other forms of public service (education, transport, health, p much anything that isn't firefighting) it could stand to be completely rethought and remodelled

i don't actually think acab. scab, maybe even mcab. idk. the way cops are made to cop often makes them bastards but i can genuinely believe that many of them went into it with noble ideals of public service. this isn't about cops so much about the relationship between capital, the law and the people

Guys I’m not gonna lie, I’m thoroughly enjoying every moment of being cooped up inside. I’ve been spending roughly 20 hrs a day in bed except when I have to occasionally go into work and it’s tbh wonderful to feel no guilt about it but instead heroic.

I do enjoy no longer having the frequent cognitive dissonance of wanting to stay in vs wanting to make plans and go out. So much easier that the decision is made for me.

Oh I guess I also go out to walk my dog but I don’t even enjoy it, that’s just necessity.

Advice everywhere: Please comfort your children! They are likely more worried than you are! And they'll miss seeing all their friends at school. Don't make them do too much work, they are likely very anxious, give them calming, relaxing activities to enjoy together.

My kids: they do not give a shit, being at home all day suits them fine, if anything this is like a special treat, possible an adventure, more chance to play Minecraft too.

I do think this has taken a toll on children

My girls are putting up a cheerful front but it’s gotta be working them over psychologically.
