I actually clicked to see who it was, assumed it was Moran or someone.

They're claiming they never saw the correspondence, when it seems more likely they buried it because they thought it would be politically embarrassing.

Very reassured that “we are too incompetent to read email” is the best excuse they could come up with

so my entire neighbourhood appears to be applauding the nhs rn

jolly good show
anybody applauding the NHS who didn't vote Labour last election should be strung up

I forgot about the NHS clap-off until I heard some noise outside and curtain-twitched in my disapproving middle-aged way
surprised people did it, thankful it was brief

All the noise around here is coming from the *posh* parts that like their gammon juice like their whiskey.. Erm cant think of some appropriate witticism there but I have filmic evidence and it was fucking nauseating

― calzino, Thursday, 26 March 2020 20:21 (six years ago)
my stressed good friend who works in nhs admin was moved and cheered by it in her street, she sent the whatsapp group a little video
homerton mutual whatsapp also enthused tbh, solidarity takes awkward and contradictory forms ppl

Someone I know posted the hashtag with a shot of the NHS logo from the 2012 opening ceremony.

I appreciate that a lot of good and decent Labour people were enthusing for this mark, I've just been in too many work situations where warm sentiments are dished up as a crappy substitute for pay and conditions
― Let's kill the Queen and be legends (Noodle Vague), Thursday, 26 March 2020 20:26 (six years ago)
I liked the cheering mostly because I haven’t been able to leave my flat in days and it was nice to hear all those human voices around. Also some boats blew their whistles which is always fun
― felt jute gyte delete later (wins), Thursday, 26 March 2020 20:27 (six years ago)
When my wife was trying to sleep in the maternity hospital near the Humber on new year's night she took a different view on the boats :D
― Let's kill the Queen and be legends (Noodle Vague), Thursday, 26 March 2020 20:28 (six years ago)
my wife went and clapped, she was a nurse until she took retirement so fair enough. i sat inside grumbling into my dinner because she left the front door open and it was draughty as hell

― extremely Dutch coughing sound (gyac), Thursday, 26 March 2020 20:52 (six years ago)
Obviously fuck outright Tories glomming onto this but I think there are a lot of people out there who don't see or appreciate the contradictions between their beliefs and their voting behaviour, especially when it comes to the NHS. At the moment I'm inclined to be a little more forgiving of that than I was, say, three months ago.
― Matt DC, Thursday, 26 March 2020 20:59 (six years ago)
Yeah I agree, tho being forgiving in how I behave doesn't mean not raging in my head, and forgiveness or not I've got no faith that even a single person might examine their "contradictions" and amend their future political habits

I feel a bit mean but on the vid I filmed can hear Alex making happy noises and me just whispering : Wankers! under my breath, but I was going through a happy clappy area that had fucking Vote Conservative posters everywhere in December and these stupid fucking cunts will probably vote for them again. I heard this old cunt saying "for goodness sake bang a pot if you can't clap" to an old confused looking pensioner woman. Shut the fuck up and die you old arrogant Tory voting cunt. I hate this type of bullshit. It's fucking dishonest and wrong on so many levels. It should be something similar but deathpits and summary executions getting clapped.
― calzino, Thursday, 26 March 2020 21:03 (six years ago)
I might go so far as to say that having a clap on your doorstep is one of those tricks of psychic judo that insulates people from analysing their politics
― Let's kill the Queen and be legends (Noodle Vague), Thursday, 26 March 2020 21:04 (six years ago)
a lot of ppl on my v working class street were doing it, much to my surprise. not the dealer across the street though. he was just coming home and had a baffled, condescending smile twitching across his face.

― Let's kill the Queen and be legends (Noodle Vague), Thursday, 26 March 2020 21:12 (six years ago)
I'm probably missing something but the link to the 100 deaths in a day that SV posted also says that roughly 90 percent of the tests carried out so far have come back negative which seems weird if they're only testing people with severe symptoms idgi.
― oscar bravo, Thursday, 26 March 2020 21:14 (six years ago)
people are generally content in their contradictions - i know loads of people who consider themselves animal lovers that go all gaga over all the lambs skipping around in the fields andall that stuff, but eat meat all the time and don't really give a fuck about how it got there. i've kind of accepted that this'll never change, sentimentalism and self-centredness often go hand-in-hand
