The first is that that it doesn’t provide any support for people who became self-employed since April 2019, who are going to be funnelled towards universal credit and many of those who are receiving salary protection (both salaried and self-employed) likely will end up having to claim as a bridging measure.

The self-employed are generally proud people. Many will struggle with the thought of having to sign on for universal credit if they don't qualify / need help faster.

I liked the cheering mostly because I haven’t been able to leave my flat in days and it was nice to hear all those human voices around. Also some boats blew their whistles which is always fun

When my wife was trying to sleep in the maternity hospital near the Humber on new year's night she took a different view on the boats :D

my wife went and clapped, she was a nurse until she took retirement so fair enough. i sat inside grumbling into my dinner because she left the front door open and it was draughty as hell
