okay, might actually have to get an i5 macbook air. kind of on the fence about whether to get more ram or storage.

I think I'm getting mentally close to ditching my 10 year old MBP for a new model. Ars Technica review thinks new 16" MBP is overkill for casual users (such as me) but OTOH having spent so many years with a 15" screen I can't imagine being comfortable with a 13" Mac Air.

I got a “renewed” iPad Pro from amazon that was basically like new.

I can’t speak to eBay but I bought a 2013 15 inch MBP secondhand in 2016 and it’s fast and handles the newest OS just fine. I’m not a power user but Adobe Suite is still quick. I’d recommend any of the 15 inch MBPs since 2013 up until they started futzing with the keyboard. The only difference I’ve noticed is that the 2013 model can’t work as a second screen with an iPad unless you buy one of the non-apple apps

The reason I got an SE was because I didn't like the iPhone 8, so I really don't see the point of this.

I mean if it's best I can find, I'll buy it, even though I really don't like the button that doesn't click when you press it, or the location of the power switch, or how big it is. I'm still holding out hope someone will come out with a smaller phone before I need to buy a new one.

I’m not getting any phones bigger than my actual SE, which I guess I’m going to have to keep using another 40 years, or else give up on smartphones. Which would be no sweat if it weren’t for maps and iMessage.

I've resisted adapting to new kinds of smartphones since they invented smartphones, I don't really understand being resistant to such a degree that you would literally just cling to dying hardware rather than teach yourself some new tricks / tolerate a dongle / get used to a slightly bigger screen

I tried adapting to a bigger screen when the 6 came out. Hurt my hand. Went to the SE as soon as that came out. I don’t care to try again.

The industrial design of the 6 onward is pretty repulsive, sucked lozenges and camera warts.

The iPhone 9 (that's what I think it will be called) has been rumoured for months now. It's little more than an iPhone 8 with a spec bump. The 8 will probably only get iOS updates for another three years so Apple doesn't want to sell it much longer. The main upgrade will likely be an A13 processor - same as the current iPhone 11 series. Other than that, just minor updates, perhaps slight improvements to reception, battery life, and the camera. The nice rose gold color option is expected to be dropped. I'm guessing the high-gloss finish will be replaced by the dull glass back as on the 11 series, which will make the Apple Store staff happy. Pricing may be about $50 or £50 less than the 8 too.

I hope they don't call it the SE or SE 2; this is in no way a successor to the iPhone SE. It was nice that it was relatively cheap, but people bought it because it was small and light. I've long been hoping Apple would give us something close to SE size but with a iPhone X/11 type screen that filled the available space with only tiny bezels, but that hope has all but flickered out. At least the smallest version of the upcoming iPhone 12 is rumoured to be smaller than the 11 Pro, with a 5.4" down from 5.8". The feature set will be more like the non-Pro iPhone 11 though, but with an OLED screen and 5G. These were supposed to be launched in autumn as usual, but of course the covid-19 outbreak may cause delays or dropped features.

i don't want something that's too big for my pockets! this thing fits perfectly in the whatchamacallit front jean watch pocket and i don't wanna put it in my rear pocket where I'll sit on it or my front pocket where it will jab my balls

how can I trade in my old phone (given all retail outlets closed)?

If you’re buying from Apple they typically give you a grace period on trade-in, or at least they did on my plan. I think most companies will — they just send you a padded box/envelope to return the old phone

the back of my SE is pretty scratched up. not deep gouges or anything, just surface level scratching from being thrown onto tables etc. think I'll get away with saying it's in good condition?

Interesting that they've brought back the flat metal sides found on the iPhone 5 (and original SE) for the iPad Pro. Rumor has it they may also feature on the next flagship iPhone model. Meanwhile the new SE gets the rounded sides.
