I gave myself a reverse mohawk the day before yesterday to anticipate the ultimate course of my balding-on-top. It is not everything I hoped for.

CP, balding is ok, you just need a set of clippers, saves money on going to the hairdresser, also I always hated going anyway.

trouble is I hate having short hair (I know I may not have a choice about this at some point) so I don't actually want to shave it off, just trim it a few inches... but I guess it's not like anyone is actually seeing it now anyway, it looks OKish from the front so video calls are OK

also unrelated to videos but related to humans getting along -- gotta admit that i am enjoying the gentle "wtf who cares pandemic" release from social norms and inhibitions. this time of year people tend to get so...irritable? and complaining about other people had reached a real pitch before this went down (thinking of the political sniping mostly). i am enjoying some relief from it!

i would consider shaving my head but we are trying to learn how to teach online and i don't want to scare my students. they already think I'm weird enough.

I have vowed for many years to proudly rock my baldness when it arrives. i.e. refuse to shave head all the way down as per today's standard...but now with this experiment I'm realizing that may not be possible.

a girl at my high school shaved her hair, we thought it was cool but my grandma saw her once and went on about it for years, she thought it was a sign of a dangerous mental breakdown for some reason

we've been cutting each other's hair for the last 3 years? It's not that difficult once you get used to it and is always a surprise at the end.

I was thinking about using this isolation to grow out all my white hair. I am pretty sure it's going to look ridiculous.

easier to cut one's own hair if the hair is abundant and manageable/longer
cutting my own hair has only led to undesirable ramona quimby looks and tears

I once got a little loopy and gave myself bangs that looked like eddie munster's widows peak for laughs. But then I ha to use bobby pins for awhile to pin back the tiny bits of hair.

I shaved off the beard I've had for almost 13 years but kept the mustache and look ridiculous. I figured I wouldn't see anyone so who cares but forgot about zoom office hours with my students.

i haven't cut my air for about seven months. it'll be okay.

I did rush to flip the cover over my webcam on our Slack call this morning because I was sat in my dressing gown. you'd think I'd be used to this since I've been working from home most of the time since 2016, but I never used to use video until the whole company started working from home this week and they want us to have the video on so we can see each other, so my webcam was permanently covered until yesterday

turned out it was OK because the video calls were on MS Teams, and my video is off on Slack anyway. but phew

I had a zoom meeting with my boss yesterday and only noticed halfway through that I was wearing a holey undershirt and hadn't shaved in 3 days.

I don't know why the hell Seattle doesn't have a shelter-in-place order, and I am so pissed about it, because at least one of my housemates will continue to do absolutely nothing to protect the rest of us until he's directly ordered to. The mayor was asked about it and said, "Well, we're already telling people to shelter in place, we're just not calling it that." NO YOU'RE NOT! If you were telling people explicitly and clearly and with the force of your authority not to get together with friends, I wouldn't have to have fraught and ultimately pointless arguments with my housemates every other day.

confirmed COVID cases among people we know, or people we know are friends with/related to is at six (or seven, depending on how my wife’s cousin’s tests come back, or eight, depending on whatever knocked out my wife’s friend a few days after she came back from Disney. She’s better now and never got the test).
