this just made me imagine a "fish hotdog" and I'm not sure how I feel about that
ha I went here yesterday and someone linked a picture of a fish stick on a bun

I had some frankfurters on a cold day in the Nachmarkt in Vienna a couple of years ago alongside some tafelspitz. They weren't hot dogs, per se, but they were the best frankfurter sausages I've ever had.
I've had fish sausages before. They did not appeal to me.

xxxxxxxxpi always tried to avoid eating indian food on devon, due to the preponderance of indians that lived there
where else than devon to get good, cheap indian food?

I've had salmon sausages that were ok, but baja-style fish tacos are one of the perfect foodstuffs.

torta with hot dog in it
Have you seen this?
Yeah, I feel like it's usually called "torta la loca" or something and has a breaded cutlet, some ham or something, avocado, lettuce, tomatoes, crema, queso fresco, jalapenos, and then a split hot dog or two. When you're eating it you don't really sense the hot dog qua hot dog so much, it's just kind of a big disgusting awesomeness that comes at you whole.
― Guayaquil (eephus!), Friday, 3 July 2009 00:06 (sixteen years ago)
Tried to have Chicago Dogs for the supper tonight but just couldn't pull it together. No sport peppers, out of relish, underripe tomato, foolishly decided to toast and then accidentally overtoasted the "wheat" buns. At least I had the all-beef frank and Plochmann's mustard. Still basically a travesty and I feel shame for having eaten them.
― Insane Clown Ventures, LLC (iiiijjjj), Friday, 3 July 2009 01:51 (sixteen years ago)
also xpost I used to get hotdogs in Tijuana all the time. The dog is bacon-wrapped and served with mayo. Plus onions and all that. Best ever.
― Insane Clown Ventures, LLC (iiiijjjj), Friday, 3 July 2009 01:53 (sixteen years ago)
you know what made me sad about all the rain we got this week was that it meant that the hotdog vendor wasn't across the street from my store all week. so, that is where my heart is. i wouldn't have been so sad if a taco vendor was forced to stay home. if it was burrito -vs- hot dog i might have had to think twice. mmmm, steak burritos at the mexican place down the street are way yummy. haven't even tried their tacos yet.
― scott seward, Friday, 3 July 2009 02:37 (sixteen years ago)
although to be honest i am all about the hot dog vendor's hot sausage with peppers and onions. as opposed to his hot dogs. but his hot dogs are good too. very long and crunchy.
― scott seward, Friday, 3 July 2009 02:39 (sixteen years ago)
crunchy! scott, can you get "saugy" brand dogz in MA? i think they might be a rhode island only thing, but you should look for them if you are ever at a stop & shop in the ocean state.

― ian, Friday, 3 July 2009 02:42 (sixteen years ago)
mmmm, i will. pittsfield mass used to have a famous crunchy hot dog place. don't know if it's still there. my dad would drive us there when we were kids.
― scott seward, Friday, 3 July 2009 02:46 (sixteen years ago)
saugy's have a really good natural casing kind of snap to 'em. i love it. in fact, i wish i had some right now.

81-26 tacos is surprising. I was expecting more like 78-29 tacos. In any event GO USA~

Good morning. In less than an hour, aircraft from here will join others from around the world. And you will be launching the largest aerial battle in this history of mankind.
Mankind -- that word should have new meaning for all of us today.
We can't be consumed by our petty differences anymore.
We will be united in our common interests.
Perhaps its fate that today is the 4th of July, and you will once again be fighting for our freedom, not from tyranny, oppression, or persecution -- but from annihilation.
We're fighting for our right to live, to exist.
And should we win the day, the 4th of July will no longer be known as an American holiday, but as the day when the world declared in one voice:
"We will not go quietly into the night!
We will not vanish without a fight!
We're going to live on!
We're going to survive!"
Today, we celebrate our Independence Day!

Think of it: how many wars today could be prevented if we could wipeeveryone's memory of history? -- of, say, knowledge of what happened more than 50 years ago.

In Japan, hotdogs are used in bento boxes and are often sliced to resemble an octopus.

In Tuvalu, Hot Dogs are served traditionally on Bournivalian Holidays. They consist on a little wheat bun, a lamb (or goat) sausage and purple coleslaw. They are cooked during a ceremony where the priest, or even the Majestic Goddess, blesses them.
Reigning champ Joey Chestnut beat out six-time titleholder Takeru Kobayashi in Coney Island's annual hot-dog eating contest. He ate 68 hot dogs in 10 minutes.
