i've seen smug and condescending to describe warren supporters here. It's confusing because in these political threads she usually seems the least mentioned.

i encounter way more smug and condescending sanders supporters in my daily use of the internet, but my understanding is that on twitter everyone is terrible

Sorry everyone I was briefly incensed by one tweet in a way I shouldn’t have been. Anyway go vote y’all

there's also just a lot more of them, and a lot more of them are younger and more online. Idk that any candidate has a higher % of shitty fans. (Other than Bloomberg obv)

forrest gump is a film - the greatest film of the 20th century - not a presidential candidate

But guess what? Nobody gives a toot!😂 (Karl Malone), Tuesday, 3 March 2020 16:27 (six years ago)

I get the impulse behind the continuous "someone was mean to me on the internet and now I don't think poor people deserve healthcare" jokes and prodding, I really do; but it's a super-sized shitty look after going on six years of "candidates have to EARN your vote, you don't owe it to anyone." Like, maybe just rethink the approach here.

I'm just so upset about Richard Marx's Sanders opinions that I may never listen to Hold On To The Nights again after this election cycle.

Biden/Harris makes a depressingly large amount of sense.

On ILX and elsewhere, I’ve found Sanders supporters to be default dismissive of Warren. The leftist line of attack is mostly ad hominem, and focuses on Warren’s presumption to run against Bernie as progressive standard-bearer (“splitting the vote”), and her bona fides as a progressive (“I don’t trust an ex-republican”). Sanders supporters have often tried to collapse the difference between the two (“their policies are mostly the same”), which is true, but also ignores the clarity, depth, and precision of the policies she’s put forth.

I waffled between the two for months, but settled on Warren because of her pragmatism, intelligence, and pugnaciousness. Her preparation and debate skills seem to be at least as good as Bernie’s, and she seems to speak extemporaneously on a broader base of affairs than any of her rivals. I haven’t been convinced of any reason why Bernie would be a better president than she would be, and most of his supporters’ arguments boil down to electability and experience - both of which are correlative with the pair’s respective genders. She might go no further than the primaries, but I’m glad to support her until then.

Just a reminder for the over anxious among us today. Real change will happen from the bottom up. No one person is going to save us and this presidential election is just another step along the road toward what needs to happen. The problems are far too entrenched to think that one election can solve them.

dude, jesus christ, i meant from a horse-race perspective. is it always 100% essential that every mention of a politician not named Bernard Sanders in this thread be caveated by calling them an utter and complete piece of dogshit?

whichever old white guy wins is going to pick a younger a) woman, b) person of color or c) both for VP - that means Harris, Warren, Stacey, etc. it's not a mystery.

but at this point voting for her feels like fan fiction

I tire of saying this, and perhaps it won't matter in a few hours, but.

She doesn't have a path? She'd have way more of a path if the people who say this stopped prematurely deciding she doesn't.

She can't win? She'd have a lot better chance at winning if the people who say this just fuckin voted for her.

It feels like fan fiction? It'd feel way less like that if the people who say this just went ahead and fuckin voted for her.

The problem is, the people who say this, or who support her outright, appear to be greatly outnumbered by the people who have zero interest in voting for her.

The candidate who agrees with me on eight things is great, the candidate who agrees with me on seven things is the literal devil from hell, this is not hard to understand people.

four ex candidates endorsed biden with every ounce of their souls and hearts within a 48 hour timespan before the most important voting day of the primaries because they just believe in him so much

Muswell Hillbilly Elegy (President Keyes), Tuesday, 3 March 2020 18:10 (six years ago)

The GOP/the media/the Russians(maybe?)/the Illuminati (definitely) have done a really good job of sowing division among everybody left of Trump. I really really hope the narcissism of minor differences doesn't wind up handing him reelection on a satin pillow alongside a scrumptious dinner mint.

This reminds me of how everyone whinged about all-white candidates remaining onstage when for the most part we can assume they never once voted for or donated to any of the candidates of color

bold caucasian eroticism (Simon H.), Tuesday, 3 March 2020 18:10 (six years ago)

Voted Sanders in the Democrats Abroad primary (21 delegates at stake) because although I like Warren a lot, I don’t like the DNC coming together to prop up Biden, and ensure my mother says nothing but hunterbidenhunterbidenhunterbiden for the next eight months.
