got into a conversation with a fellow writer about right wing hate for hillary and i’m pretty sure we’re being swarmed by girlboss-feminism “agents” because he mentioned how people have wanted her dead (not untrue!!)anyway never tweet
― maura, Tuesday, 10 March 2020 11:43 (six years ago)
if you're on or lurk ilx and/or reddit (and, crucially, have nothing to promote online) there's no point to being on twitter at this point, anything worthwhile (and a ton that isn't) gets reposted
― bold caucasian eroticism (Simon H.), Tuesday, 10 March 2020 12:43 (six years ago)
yeah it's why i'm thinking of taking a long break

― ogmor, Tuesday, 10 March 2020 12:52 (six years ago)
I believe brad is talking about ilx
― bold caucasian eroticism (Simon H.), Tuesday, 10 March 2020 12:53 (six years ago)
Simon H - that isn't really true, whether that's politics or books.
― xyzzzz__, Tuesday, 10 March 2020 12:54 (six years ago)
I do get more about films or TV from ilx than twitter tho'.
― xyzzzz__, Tuesday, 10 March 2020 12:55 (six years ago)
lol dont go on twitter just go on..........reddit
― lag∞n, Tuesday, 10 March 2020 13:14 (six years ago)
select and limited lurking on reddit is fine imho. (NEVER post tho)

― ooga booga-ing for the bourgeoisie (voodoo chili), Tuesday, 10 March 2020 14:49 (six years ago)
the tweets here too are getting me to consider taking a break from ilx :( that, plus the ramp-up in assholism here lately, which is mostly usa primaries related but it's deeper.even a politics board (that I could turn off on SNA) wouldn't stop it. but people here seem to like things how they are (o/w the assholes would get 51d) so it's really just my problem :(

that Menshevik M is a total fucking dunce also (look at the replies, intersectionality "was influenced by Derrida and Foucault", fucking hell)
― frederik b. godt (jim in vancouver), Tuesday, 10 March 2020 17:18 (six years ago)
that is also bad
however I maintain the original tweet that is screenshoted is still mind-blowing

One (with the link) seems a crank, the other one is mocking it. A lot of the replies are a variation of wtf.

there is some much inside information needed in order to understand any of this or the references
if you know nothing about any of these things, I would recommend not ruining your brain

Lately I've decided I should report any posts that contain political or factual falsehoods that I find harmful, along with any false or misleading information about COVID. The only problem is, I'm not sure which combination of report reasons I should select for these. Most of the choices are more about causing direct harm to individuals, as opposed to causing confusion and harm with fake information.
― Mario Meatwagon (Moodles), Monday, 13 April 2020 00:01 (six years ago)
yeah, they have really fucked up by not just throwing “covid-19 misinformation” in as a categoryprobably a lot of internal waffling of how to make it a more general use category and what “science” and “medicine” really mean
― mh, Monday, 13 April 2020 01:11 (six years ago)
I feel like the ability to "fact check" bullshit tweets would be very helpful, but I may be deluding myself.
― Mario Meatwagon (Moodles), Monday, 13 April 2020 01:13 (six years ago)
"facts" according to whom, though?
sigh
― mh, Monday, 13 April 2020 18:32 (six years ago)
According to me. Obviously there is a subjective element there, but maybe if tweets are egregious enough, vtgey will draw more than just my own attention, and ultimately get some of the worst offenders banned.
I get that this is very quixotic, pie in the sky stuff, but I'm bored.

a bad dad? now I've seen everything
― k3vin k., Tuesday, 14 April 2020 20:13 (six years ago)
he's not just the dad.. he's the boss
idk there's this element where someone who works in marketing also has their own account where they're tweeting about how it's a cool experiment to present a brand as this inspirational voice.. that's also marketing
and the marketing company is just another company

imo they should just tell the truth that steak-umms are reconstituted beef trimmings and eating them instead of buying fancy cuts of meat, which there are only so many of per cow, is a lot more environmentally conscious
