the dems could institute a national mail-in ranked-choice primary if they wanted to and if Warren finds herself in a position to extract concessions from the party that's what she should press for

It's pretty obvious to me that the thing currently afflicting Warren's campaign is that she is everyone's second- or third-choice candidate and, in a fractured field without ranked choice, that means she's coming in well below the level of her actual support. (I say this is obvious because she is near the top of every "would you vote for this person if they were the nominee" and "if your preferred nominee is knocked out, who will you support" poll)

It quotes Walter Mondale (a SD who says he "can't imagine" giving a candidate with a mere plurality the nomination automatically) without mentioning that he's 91. Then, turning to the op-eds, an opinion piece by 'venerable' political reporter Elizabeth Drew says the Dems settling on a nominee in early March is "too soon." Drew is 84.

The New York Times, with their finger on the pulse of Sanders skeptics who just about have a pulse.

Don Beyer otoh is only 69 and has served as the United States Representative for Virginia's 8th congressional district since 2015. The district is located in the heart of Northern Virginia and includes Alexandria, Falls Church, and Arlington.

In 2017, I wrote a personal essay about a much older, married cable news host who inappropriately flirted with me in the makeup room a few times before we went live on his show, making me noticeably uncomfortable on air. I was afraid to name him at the time for fear of retaliation from the network; I’m not anymore. It was Chris Matthews. In 2016, right before I had to go on his show and talk about sexual assault allegations against Donald Trump, Matthews looked over at me in the makeup chair next to him and said, “Why haven’t I fallen in love with you yet?”

When I laughed nervously and said nothing, he followed up to the makeup artist. “Keep putting makeup on her, I’ll fall in love with her.”

Another time, he stood between me and the mirror and complimented the red dress I was wearing for the segment. “You going out tonight?” he asked.

I said I didn’t know, and he said—again to the makeup artist—“Make sure you wipe this off her face after the show. We don’t make her up so some guy at a bar can look at her like this.”
