Sammo Hazuki's Tago Mago Cantina (Old Lunch), Tuesday, 18 February 2020 16:01 (six years ago)

why is every fuckin thread about bloomberg

haha, sorry! i wasn't sure which one to post it on, since that thread is also hated. but he is now one of the leading contenders for the democratic primary, somehow, so this one seemed appropriate

But guess what? Nobody gives a toot!😂 (Karl Malone), Tuesday, 18 February 2020 16:01 (six years ago)

Sanders is absolutely gonna go hard after Bloomy

frogbs, Tuesday, 18 February 2020 16:02 (six years ago)

Bloomps's last check to me bounced so, fuck him. I have some feelers out to other candidates who might Klompensate me adequately (hint hint)

The Crooked DNC is working overtime to take the Democrat Nomination away from Bernie, AGAIN! Watch what happens to the Super Delegates in Round Two. A Rigged Convention!

brooklyn suicide cult (Dr Morbius), Tuesday, 18 February 2020 16:05 (six years ago)

i hope he does. he never went after steyer but that was because steyer is the lincoln chafee of 2020.

but this whole "leave it to the voters to connect the very simple dots" thing doesn't work. you have to be like "BLOOMBERG IS A RICH DUDE THAT IS BUYING HIS WAY TO THE PRESIDENCY. THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT IS WRONG WITH POLITICS" or else the whole debate drifts by like friends season 7 to white people

xp

But guess what? Nobody gives a toot!😂 (Karl Malone), Tuesday, 18 February 2020 16:05 (six years ago)

what dimension of chess is this

Chess is beyond him (the queen is only like a 5 and doesn't even have a grabbable pussy). He just wants to sow chaos and eat cold hamberders watching stuff burn.

Natalie Wouldn't (Ye Mad Puffin), Tuesday, 18 February 2020 16:06 (six years ago)

xp apparently Chafee was at the Libertarian debate, lol

mh, Tuesday, 18 February 2020 16:07 (six years ago)

i saw a screenshot of him standing next to wolfman or something, in that debate.

But guess what? Nobody gives a toot!😂 (Karl Malone), Tuesday, 18 February 2020 16:08 (six years ago)

you might be talking about Vermin Supreme

frogbs, Tuesday, 18 February 2020 16:09 (six years ago)

I recommend a sprinkling of baby powder for when you have unwelcome Chafee

Natalie Wouldn't (Ye Mad Puffin), Tuesday, 18 February 2020 16:09 (six years ago)

now i can't find any image of it that includes chafee. maybe that was a weird dream, featuring wolfman

But guess what? Nobody gives a toot!😂 (Karl Malone), Tuesday, 18 February 2020 16:10 (six years ago)

i saw a screenshot of him standing next to wolfman or something, in that debate.

his healthcare plan was perfect

this one's pretty obvious tbh

Larry Elleison (rogermexico.), Tuesday, 18 February 2020 17:29 (six years ago)

Maybe you were thinking of Chafee’s post-debate interview with PFT Commenter?

El Tomboto, Tuesday, 18 February 2020 17:37 (six years ago)

As I said, I have to think Bloomberg is being allowed to debate because he diminishes the closer you get. The alternative is that Tom Perez is destructive and insane.

brooklyn suicide cult (Dr Morbius), Tuesday, 18 February 2020 17:51 (six years ago)

Agreed it's better to just let Bloomberg debate because he stinks, but the first 15 minutes or so of this debate will be the mods and candidates united in complaining to Bernie about online bullying.

Watch pundits do the he-had-more-to-lose-so-by-breathing-Bloomberg-survives fan dance.

I won't

Swilling Ambergris, Esq. (silby), Tuesday, 18 February 2020 19:17 (six years ago)

lol

It’s a shame Mike Bloomberg can buy his way into the debate. But at least now primary voters curious about how each candidate will take on Donald Trump can get a live demonstration of how we each take on an egomaniac billionaire. https://t.co/H02radEZcv

I've been completely uninterested in watching the debates up to now but I am very curious to see all the candidates ripping into Bloomberg to his face.

Fetchboy, Tuesday, 18 February 2020 20:23 (six years ago)

Did Bloomberg do any debate in NYC? Seems like he'd be prickly bastard.

Muswell Hillbilly Elegy (President Keyes), Tuesday, 18 February 2020 20:34 (six years ago)

throwing Bloomberg onstage with Bernie is like tossing raw meat to a lion

Οὖτις, Tuesday, 18 February 2020 20:39 (six years ago)

i expect bloomberg to get thrashed and perform in a way that makes one wonder how he has any supporters at all. i also expect him to take a 2 point hit in the polls and bounce back the next week.

But guess what? Nobody gives a toot!😂 (Karl Malone), Tuesday, 18 February 2020 20:41 (six years ago)

What good is money if it can't scrub away those unpleasant moments when people are exposed to your unmediated self?

he will make the audience sign NDAs

Sanders got an arena crowd of 17,000 in a 200k population city south of Seattle last night.

Warren drew 15,000 to Seattle Center (open-air reschedule from a 7000 cap theatre) a few months ago, and is back there this Saturday.

Grumpy right now about the way the Warren erasure/premature obituaries have become a self-fulfilling prophecy. If the media doesn't poll about her candidacy or cover her speeches or report on her campaign events, then, heck, voters can just conclude that she's not in the race anymore, so it's a waste of time to even consider voting for her, right? Except all of those things are EXACTLY why people don't think she's viable. Which is what is, in neat circular fashion, making her less and less viable. I find this infuriating, personally.

And even if you prefer another candidate (which lots of people do) or prefer to vote strategically (which lots of people do), then may you could take a second to reflect on maybe that is pretty fucking infuriating too?

Natalie Wouldn't (Ye Mad Puffin), Wednesday, 19 February 2020 02:30 (six years ago)

It’s quite shitty and I’m definitely dismayed about it

Swilling Ambergris, Esq. (silby), Wednesday, 19 February 2020 02:31 (six years ago)

Still voting for her in the Florida primary.

TikTok to the (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Wednesday, 19 February 2020 02:33 (six years ago)

we're still voting for Warren too.

(yeah, there was that Warren erasure thing/ the only female pres. candidate americans are willing to support is the one not running in jezebel?)

Re: Warren, I thought this was an interesting article on her foreign policy: https://www.thenation.com/article/politics/sasha-baker-elizabeth-warren-foreign-policy/

It gets at some of the problems with her candidacy, the way that trying to keep ties to the establishment while agreeing 90% with the Sanders camp leaves everyone a little unsure of her. I get the worries about her being written off, but at the same time I find it a little silly that “erasure” is the buzzword - she got endorsed by the NYTimes! And in the media’s defense, disappointing results for a 2nd/3rd place contender are less of a story than total collapse of a front-runner or sudden surge of an also-ran.

She's right in one respect, that presidents have an elaborate and extensive support structure to keep them informed of whatever facts they need to understand when making decisions. Instantly recalling the names of world leaders on demand is not a critical talent presidents to master. There's always someone available to brief them about whatever they want to know.
