BSC Joan Baez (darraghmac), Sunday, 16 February 2020 16:12 (six years ago)

interesting VAR decision there

Chelsea have one ruled out for a push on Brandon Williams by Azpilicueta, who was himself pushed by Fred

Number None, Monday, 17 February 2020 21:22 (six years ago)

Chelsea not having much luck tonight

groovypanda, Monday, 17 February 2020 21:46 (six years ago)

yeah, the Giroud decision wasn't really controversial though

despite the commentators best efforts to make it so

Number None, Monday, 17 February 2020 21:59 (six years ago)

oscar bravo, Tuesday, 18 February 2020 11:34 (six years ago)

BSC Joan Baez (darraghmac), Tuesday, 18 February 2020 11:43 (six years ago)

cue Jose’s sad trombone
“My thoughts are that Troy Parrott is not ready,” Mourinho said

mizzell, Tuesday, 18 February 2020 15:23 (six years ago)

A Parrott can never replace a Son.

Load up your rubber wallets (Tom D.), Tuesday, 18 February 2020 15:25 (six years ago)

Never have ye needed Vincent 'El Toro' Janssen more. (yes, that's his nickname now)

Le Bateau Ivre, Tuesday, 18 February 2020 15:33 (six years ago)

Wuhan!! Got You All in Check (Camaraderie at Arms Length), Tuesday, 18 February 2020 16:00 (six years ago)

Number None, Tuesday, 18 February 2020 18:42 (six years ago)

Those fans are not into PR spin. They sing from the heart. "Sheikh Mansour, My Lord, Sheikh Mansour".

🤢

Dadjokke (Sgt. Biscuits), Thursday, 20 February 2020 11:56 (six years ago)

ian wright's desert island discs is wrecking me right now.

oscar bravo, Friday, 21 February 2020 09:42 (six years ago)

Thank you for the kind messages about #DesertIslandDiscs 🙏🏾 And special thank you to @laurenlaverne who was absolutely brilliant host during what was an emotional few hours recording ♥️♥️♥️ https://t.co/Y6KmBJwwzH

— Ian Wright (@IanWright0) February 16, 2020

Beautiful.

Le Bateau Ivre, Friday, 21 February 2020 10:43 (six years ago)

That episode was a tough listen and his love for that teacher is beautiful.

(The cynic in me is seeing a huge amount of sentimentalising of teachers and teaching at the moment. Every podcast I listen to has a personal story style ad attached to it. The advertising has gone from 'look, being a teacher makes you rich!' because, well, it doesn't, towards this more charitable, benevolent, 'teachers can change your life' stuff, which might be true but can you stick your mawkish ads up your arse, sort out the funding and pay them properly, please?)

Ngolo Cantwell (Chinaski), Friday, 21 February 2020 11:13 (six years ago)

Wrighty is fucking awful, what's right with you people?!

calzino, Friday, 21 February 2020 11:22 (six years ago)

you'll be getting misty eyed over another septic pimple like Neil Warnock next!

calzino, Friday, 21 February 2020 11:31 (six years ago)

empathy is a curious thing isn't it

imago, Friday, 21 February 2020 11:33 (six years ago)

I'm allergic to celebs tbh. I save my empathy for people with real problems not self-indulgent bathos on the old wireless.

calzino, Friday, 21 February 2020 11:35 (six years ago)

mr pigden sounds like a legitimate source of empathy to me

imago, Friday, 21 February 2020 11:38 (six years ago)

As are Wrighty's experiences growing up. He's ordinary as a pundit, sure.

Ngolo Cantwell (Chinaski), Friday, 21 February 2020 11:40 (six years ago)

growing up terrified of your stepfather ,watching your mum get abused, going to prison . not real problems. okay.

oscar bravo, Friday, 21 February 2020 11:42 (six years ago)

He's that much of an obnoxious boorish cunt he once compelled me to be on Roy Keane's side, and that is somewhere I really don't want to be.

calzino, Friday, 21 February 2020 11:44 (six years ago)

plenty of us have endured all sorts of shit in our childhoods and I don't doubt he had a very tough upbringing himself, but it doesn't mean I'm going make allowances for what a nauseating personality he is.

calzino, Friday, 21 February 2020 11:56 (six years ago)

sorry if I'm being an arse here, but I just cannot stand the fucker - his voice put's me on edge and he reminds me of a total dickhead I used to work with.

calzino, Friday, 21 February 2020 12:06 (six years ago)

the sentimentalising of celebrity travails is a bit of a "hand me the remote" for me usually, but idk, this one seems to have something genuine to it too.

as for wrighty, hes....normal? i mean, that includes that hes often moronic, im sure he holds views about football and life and everything else that would make him a pain in the arse and certainly a BAD ILXOR but does he seem like that bad a fella? id pick a good twenty regular pundits ahead of him for a fuckin kicking i must say.

BSC Joan Baez (darraghmac), Friday, 21 February 2020 12:08 (six years ago)

wrighty always gets a pass for me for the outfit he affected for an entire world cup/euros that one time

imago, Friday, 21 February 2020 12:10 (six years ago)

I think anyone who has ever been in a working environment with one too many alpha-male types being the norm will have met a Wrighty or two in their lifetime.

calzino, Friday, 21 February 2020 12:18 (six years ago)

honestly think Wright has grown as a personality and a pundit the last few years

babby bitter (Noodle Vague), Friday, 21 February 2020 12:23 (six years ago)

yeah i think thats also true tbh

BSC Joan Baez (darraghmac), Friday, 21 February 2020 12:30 (six years ago)

think hes open to being told hes wrong, seems to have a sense of humour about disagreement that for instance and to pick two very obvious examples, the likes of shearer or keane dont and could never dream of developing

BSC Joan Baez (darraghmac), Friday, 21 February 2020 12:31 (six years ago)

I wouldn't say he's an alpha male type either, he laughs far too much for that

or something, Friday, 21 February 2020 13:09 (six years ago)

Shearer seems a much worse character than him tbf and I certainly don't want to listen to that cunt's ep of D.I.D. either. I'd get the load of these poppy wearing cunts in a deathpit tbh

Classic entitled United fan

babby bitter (Noodle Vague), Friday, 21 February 2020 13:21 (six years ago)

omg!

calzino, Friday, 21 February 2020 13:23 (six years ago)

he could have at least told him that Man Utd's next title challenge will be coming soon enough .. in the championship.

calzino, Friday, 21 February 2020 13:26 (six years ago)

Of course I'm biased but klopp's reply is just beautiful

or something, Friday, 21 February 2020 13:28 (six years ago)

Should've told the little twat to fuck off tbh

babby bitter (Noodle Vague), Friday, 21 February 2020 13:30 (six years ago)

im sure the first draft was close enough to it

BSC Joan Baez (darraghmac), Friday, 21 February 2020 13:48 (six years ago)

I also hold a modicum of inexplicable goodwill towards Ian Wright

I liked it when he astutely identified that James Rodriguez had had a little look, vs Uruguay, in 2014

Dadjokke (Sgt. Biscuits), Friday, 21 February 2020 14:14 (six years ago)

Jurgen Klopp, on the other hand, seems to be an almost obnoxiously pleasant human being, a real "Mary Sue"

Dadjokke (Sgt. Biscuits), Friday, 21 February 2020 14:17 (six years ago)

Shankly would have told that entitled little shit he'd be lucky to get a lump of coal in his Christmas stocking after penning a letter like that.

calzino, Friday, 21 February 2020 14:26 (six years ago)

man fuck klopp for real, toothy git

BSC Joan Baez (darraghmac), Friday, 21 February 2020 14:35 (six years ago)

8-(

or something, Friday, 21 February 2020 14:41 (six years ago)

Wrighty's original Mr. Pigdin moment actually did make me more favourably disposed to him

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=omPdemwaNzQ

he is still an annoying arse though
