I want to like this so much, but I don't really know what's going on, and it's boring. Sliding around on a Borg cube in your socks? No. That's not a thing.

the return of 7 of 9 should be good, but it wasn't dignified and quite bodged. i don't expect her to say that old maverick pilot *classic* "you owe me a ship, Picard" that is a Lieutenant Starbuck type line!

I don’t know, I’m really enjoying the klutzy, rambling pace, it makes the show seem more like comfort food to me, which is what I want from a trek show

I can imagine being called JL initially irritated Picard and that was part of their dynamic when they got along.

The music is really weird and intrusive and makes this feel like a modern BBC show like Sherlock

When that bit happened my bf got a disgusted look on his face and muted the loud, overweening Titanic-romance music that started playing. BLEUGH what was the point of that scene. We get it, he's playing her.

But I'm enjoying this otherwise. I liked Seven's entrance, especially her falling down dizzily after she said it.

that scene was important to establish that there are still socks in the 24th century and it will pay off later in the show, possibly to universe-saving effect

Socks: check.
Zippers: GTFO.

Narek is the worst

i thought that too but then there was that scene with his horny sister and now she is the worst

I thought he was sounding like a bad French stereotype, not a German one? Need to relisten

he was going for french and landed on herzog-in-jack-reacher imo

that was a really bizarre episode. parts of it were laughably bad - the lizard guy with the keen sense of smell seemed like he wandered in from The Orville

and no idea what they were thinking with Picard's accent unless it was some sort of Holy Grail/Pink Panther tribute

that lady had a pretty bad security system

anyway this episode was Good because it was narek-and-twinless and with luck we've fulfilled our raffi backstory requirement

last ep was pure fetch quest, didn't advance the story (except for the last two minutes), dispensed with characters and locations we'd been led to expect more from, indulged in shallow world building, and was basically lacking in action, excitement, intrigue, moral dilemmas, blah blah. sorry but that's just how i feel. will keep watching.
