tammy baldwin seems like the best pick for the general election although as he says the implications for the senate are potentially bad.

he doesn't mention castro. is it worse to endorse warren than be warren from bernie's POV?

π” π”žπ”’π”¨ (caek), Friday, 14 February 2020 22:28 (six years ago)

please Bernie, dude, no on Tulsi. just NO. i've pleasantly impressed w his campaign instincts this go round, so hopefully he's knows better than to fuck around with a narcissistic grifter like Gabbard.

A-B-C. A-Always, B-Be, C-Chooglin (will), Friday, 14 February 2020 22:30 (six years ago)

there's no way Bernie would pick Gabbard

I'm fine with Castro, but he's been dead four years.

no pros, all cons - she brings nothing to the ticket, doesn't expand his base of support, sizable number of Democrats hate her, has no qualifications Bernie doesn't already have, etc.

xps

Doesn't the VP pick rarely come from people who were running to be Pres in the same pack of candidates? Or am I misremembering?

― Position Position, Friday, February 14, 2020 5:23 PM (thirteen minutes ago) bookmarkflaglink

idk if it's super common but it's def not rare. reagan/bush, obama/biden, im sure there are others.

i assume there's data on this, but i figure i'll ask a bunch of people whose opinions i mostly don't respect: does picking a VP candidate on the basis they will bring a state/region actually work?

JFK/LBJ

Greta Van Show Feets BB (milo z), Friday, 14 February 2020 22:47 (six years ago)

i feel like besides Bush/Cheney it's been concurrent primary candidates almost exclusively for decades now?

i think what's rare is when they don't actually kind of (or very much) hate each other, eg Obama/ Biden

A-B-C. A-Always, B-Be, C-Chooglin (will), Friday, 14 February 2020 22:48 (six years ago)

I've seen people argue both ways - doesn't really matter on a state to state basis then there's

i hope i don't regret saying this, but if anyone wants 34c for free then you should know that bloomberg is leading the betting markets

Just checking (in regard to the terrible lack of power of a VP) - am I the only one remembering that Bernie had an actual heart attack last year?

I heard a rumor he had a nitro boost button installed too

DeBlasio to endorse Bernie. This should be a fun year!

Gore ran in '88. I remember that Ed Koch endorsed him bcz Israel. (In some circles Gore's nickname was "the senator from Likud.")

the full Telemundo interview w/ Klobuchar is tougher. Good on Guadalupe Venegas for pressing.
GV: Do you, I'm sorry to ask this, but do you know who he is? Do you know his name?
AK: Yeah, yeahβ€” I know that he is the Mexican president.
GV: But can you tell me his name?
AK: No. pic.twitter.com/0g3MTzDUYr

I take today's "Sanders might choose TULSI GABBARD as VP" float as hostile anti-Sanders disinfo exactly parallel to the anti-Bloomberg "Bloomberg might choose HILLARY CLINTON' floated by Drudge the other day. Just people out there methodically taking each Democrat and attaching to them the person with the highest negatives who might from 10,000 away seem like a plausible running mate. If De Blasio had had a real campaign they'd have said he was considering Al Sharpton. If Biden's campaign survives they'll probably say he's considering Hunter. I wonder who they'll come up with for Buttigieg if he makes it through Super Tuesday?
