start from the first season! xpost Haaaa, I was just thinking about the Nut Job review, which I think features Tim's first ever freak-out.

We're all very familiar with Will Smith and what he's capable of. I think this is his best performance if not the best performance of the year by anyone. You've had Bicentennial Man, now you have Gemini Man and may it's flag wave forever. This is great movie and I do believe there will be a Gemini Man 2 because this is the start of a great franchise.

Chernobyl was gripping but the accents were weird and the first half was much stronger than the second

the first truly, truly great On Cinema moment is the Parque Jurasico popcorn classic in S2E9 imo (although there was plenty of brilliant stuff before it)

The Trial may be the greatest piece of the On Cinema canon.

lol I liked the scene-for-scene comparison at the end of that episode where they showed Gemini Man looked exactly like an episode of Decker.

The Trial screened theatrically at BAM in New York late last year.

voted for Mindhunter, also i don't necessarily think Fincher is pulling the plug permanently especially considering the show would likely have some leaps forward in time if we're following the BTK story, and i imagine with his clout and apparent loyalty to the show he's just taking some time off to work on other things and allow the other actors to work as well.

i think S1 of Mindhunter reached some highs that S2 fell just shy of in several ways but it was still great.

That's a good point about the time jumps, seeing the actors released from their contracts is just kind of an ominous headline.

it had everything: action, drama, comedy, suspense and dancing

On Cinema's prescience crosses over to Decker in that the alternating squinting / open-pursed lips acting range is exactly exactly Trump's childlike notion of performative toughness

definitely disagree with Mr America as a capsule summary of On Cinema for newbie btw, though it probably works fine as a tiny weird stand-alone

it's astounding how well it compares to the film. it's not quite as great, but keeps the tone perfectly, doesn't exhaust the premises, invents loads of great new wrinkles to the set-up and even to modern vampirism, and even manages to preserve a touch of the charming parochialism of the original despite being set in NYC.

its definitely hit and miss but one advantage of the show is that the sketches actually end pretty quickly

on the thread someone posted the "Roundball Rock" sketch from SNL which I think demonstrates exactly what's wrong the show...the premise of the sketch is hilarious but once its revealed there's nothing left to do and yet they make it go on for 7 minutes anyway. ITYSL doesn't have that problem

like all sketch shows it has peaks and valleys but the peaks (steering wheel, the worms are their money, turbo time, etc) stuck in my head since the first viewing

also the show is fucking brilliant and eminently rewatchable

the instagram sketch is great but i think... several are better. especially "fully-loaded nachos"

instagram sketch is def very good, but also probably the most conventional thing in the series.
