From what I see on twitter there is an awareness from the people saying conspiracy on how an awful a look it is. But there is (rightly) a lot of investment, it's not going to take a lot to go from distrust to something else.

The Des Moines Register not showing the last poll was unfortunate, more so than seemed at the time. Probably hasn't helped

Yes.

A lot didn't help!

Sanders is going after Bloomberg. You love to see it.

Apology accepted, and I apologize for calling you asshole.

I’m feeling a bit testier than normal these days:-/

latenloomer (latebloomer), Thursday, 6 February 2020 18:27 (six years ago)

maybe the best bet for the country is Bloomberg winning the General, that way Republicans and Dems can unite in their hatred of a mediocre President.

What DOES work is sober post-mortems where the people who fucked up feel empowered to admit to their mistakes without fear of being pilloried, which allows people to actually own up to their contributions to the problem rather than managing their defensiveness.

this isn’t a morbidity and mortality conference, man. disassociate from the people who fucked this up and change the caucus to a primary like a normal fucking state

k3vin k., Thursday, 6 February 2020 18:31 (six years ago)

I’ve heard that the DNC has already been helping with the caucus ballot recounts which makes Perez’s tweet even weirder

caucus fricked iowa account (mh), Thursday, 6 February 2020 18:36 (six years ago)

like... is he calling for what is already happening, or undermining his own efforts? hard to say!

caucus fricked iowa account (mh), Thursday, 6 February 2020 18:37 (six years ago)

to what extent would a Bernie administration hypothetically have the power to "clean house" in internal Party appointments? cause if it's significant that would be a major plus.

bold caucasian eroticism (Simon H.), Thursday, 6 February 2020 18:38 (six years ago)

maybe save this for someone who thinks we should preserve caucuses

totally unnecessary bewbz of exploitation (DJP), Thursday, 6 February 2020 18:40 (six years ago)

Extremely weird shit, the campaign has incentive to move on but any adult with a brain should want basic answers about Iowa. Any demand we just chaulk it up to the fog of war or some vague, inherent problem with caucuses and “move on” is a demand we shut off our brains https://t.co/6FAKI8YvCN

but he's backed by the cia!!!!

american bradass (BradNelson), Thursday, 6 February 2020 18:46 (six years ago)

It's somewhat amusing watching a bunch of people who by-and-large define themselves by their divergence from the mainstream bend over backwards to invent nefarious reasons why a significant portion of the mainstream wouldn't agree with them on something rather than chalking it up to people having divergent value systems/priorities combined with the human propensity to fuck up everything we touch.

totally unnecessary bewbz of exploitation (DJP), Thursday, 6 February 2020 18:48 (six years ago)

we elected a president who was /head/ of the cia and he was somehow still better than his shithead non-cia son

it's a low bar

caucus fricked iowa account (mh), Thursday, 6 February 2020 18:48 (six years ago)

New statement from the @iowademocrats responding to @TomPerez. It seems to be pushing back on the idea that Perez can even request the recanvass. "Should any presidential campaign in compliance with the Iowa Delegate Selection Plan request a recanvass, the IDP is prepared." pic.twitter.com/jVDlQXs5oJ

My assumption is that there have always been errors in the Iowa caucus, given the complexities of the system. We're just more likely to know about them this time around because a) the raw vote totals are now being made public, which is leading people to analyze the data more closely, b) social media makes it easier to disseminate on-the-ground reports and photos of precinct worksheets, and c) there are a lot more viable candidates, and so more potential for error in each precinct. But I'd be surprised if caucuses in the past weren't faulty in similar ways that just never came to light.

We've detailed in this thread multiple times when it's taken over a week to tabulate the caucus results within the past 20 years

Pete's camp apparently whinging about how SDEs were counted for satellite caucuses. Hopefully he gets wiped out in the next couple states before they even return his calls.

The Best Little Boy in the World is gonna get crushed in NH and especially SC, I think. AZ's harder to read but I would think Sanders' labor credentials and latino outreach will help him there.

Οὖτις, Thursday, 6 February 2020 19:26 (six years ago)

i don't think he's getting crushed in NH and if biden does badly there too then he won't get completely wiped out in SC

Because mistakes and general bumblefuckery will occur throughout the dem primaries (because this is an endeavor being conducted by human beings), it may behoove any and all official spokespeople, in the course of demands by the press and public to explain how such mistakes could possibly have occurred, to have on hand a random assortment of 5-10 much bigger fuck-ups committed by the POTUS which they can simply recite as a response. It's a bottomless well so this tack should easily carry them through all the way to November.

Extremely weird shit, the campaign has incentive to move on but any adult with a brain should want basic answers about Iowa.

We HAVE the goddamn answers! Sanders and Buttigieg got roughly the same number of votes, and did better than all the others! Warren came in a solid third and showed her campaign is for now still viable! Biden did substantially worse than expected! Those are the basic answers! They are not in dispute! Whether Buttigieg or Sanders got a half a percent more or less than the others is not important! asdfshdjflas;hdljhdskhdkjg

this is probably good news for bernie more than any other candidate

Eugene reports that this includes senior people in Yang's HQ, including the national political and policy directors and the deputy national political director. Laid off staffers said they got at least a month's severance https://t.co/S2AGZ4Hn9I https://t.co/hswzvnPWMT
