Guys, I am realizing tonight, as I think about the fact that this Iowa vote, dumb as it is, could be a killing blow to Elizabeth Warren's campaign, is that I really do in my heart want her to win. I mean I have questions about her ability to win a general election, I really do. I don't know strategically what's right and I don't even know who I'm going to vote for. But when I think about her campaign being over, and the sinking feeling that gives me, I realize that when it comes down to it she's the one I most want to be my President.

Now let's see what happens, I guess.

Guayaquil (eephus!), Monday, 3 February 2020 23:41 (six years ago)

if she places second or third and gets more than 15% she still gets delegates so idk I wouldn't count her campaign out yet.

Οὖτις, Monday, 3 February 2020 23:43 (six years ago)

I think she'd nominate the best Cabinet and agency heads, and her temperament suggests she'd listen, keep an open mind, but be firm once she's made a decision. And I want a woman as president.

It doesn't look good.

TikTok to the (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Monday, 3 February 2020 23:49 (six years ago)

agree it doesn't look good but if Biden doesn't win IA or NH that sets up a collapse in NC and then we're in a whole different playing field

One hopes that Biden is more easily discouraged by early caucuses and primaries than Warren is, even if his votes are higher than hers.

Meanwhile, several satellite locations were held for Iowa snowbirds in Florida and Arizona. At one location in Port Charlotte, Florida, which was broadcast live by CNN, Amy Klobuchar carried the room. Here are those numbers:

First Alignment:

Klobuchar: 48
Buttigieg: 38
Biden: 32
Warren: 12
Steyer: 2
Sanders: 1
Yang: 1

Second Alignment:

Klobuchar: 56
Buttigieg: 44
Biden: 43

We can confirm the final results of the unreleased Iowa Poll:

My precinct in Cedar Falls is more packed than I've ever seen it. Late getting started. Lotta Bernie, lotta Warren, lotta Pete. Good energy in the room.

Briania, Tuesday, 4 February 2020 01:32 (six years ago)

Annd we're underway. Lonesome over in that Deval Patrick corner.

Briania, Tuesday, 4 February 2020 01:38 (six years ago)

is it deval himself?

majority whip, majority nae nae (m bison), Tuesday, 4 February 2020 01:46 (six years ago)

Laying very low if so. The precinct captains have made their pitches. Yang dude was best prepared.

Briania, Tuesday, 4 February 2020 02:06 (six years ago)

and where do YOU stand? it seems inappropriate to ask, but then again, you could be on CNN

But guess what? Nobody gives a toot!😂 (Karl Malone), Tuesday, 4 February 2020 02:13 (six years ago)

Warren. Still counting, but she's gonna be viable here. It's already clear that Biden will not.

Briania, Tuesday, 4 February 2020 02:23 (six years ago)

haven't watched these caucuses live before, they are so chaotic

Chris Hayes looking depressed by the caucus-goers’ obsession with electability. OTOH His co-panelists are ebullient with wholesome civic feelings

This is my tenth caucus, and the clusterfuckiest yet. 100 minutes in, and we still don't have a first count. People bailing before realignment.

I've pledged not to watch TV, but watching three minutes TV convinced me we should condemn Joy Reid and Nicole Wallace and Chris Matthews to the burlap sack with a scorpion, chimp, and poisonous snake.

in a mellow, balmy way (Hunt3r), Tuesday, 4 February 2020 03:01 (six years ago)

Sanders 141; warren 75; buttigieg 58; biden 24; Yang 23; Klobuchar 22; Steyer 4; uncommitted 2; Gabbard 2.

Briania, Tuesday, 4 February 2020 03:02 (six years ago)

“The kind of candidate that can win in Iowa is the kind of candidate I want to see in the Oval Office,” she said. A candidate “can’t be but a better human being for having been assaulted with this humanity in its purest form.”

lol

j., Tuesday, 4 February 2020 03:12 (six years ago)

I didn’t stay for the end of the second alignment because we are dumb as hell and refuse to pay attention in my precinct and my vote was locked
in, and I wasn’t going to be able to move people

189 Sanders
154 Warren

possible Buttigieg hit viability after I left or Warren picked up a couple. will post the final count when it goes up

what exactly is this

majority whip, majority nae nae (m bison), Tuesday, 4 February 2020 03:24 (six years ago)

I feel bad for supporters waiting at caucus parties waiting for results, but watching the CNN anchors going nuts because Iowa hasn’t dropped the numbers yet is very satisfying

make them suffer imo

babu frik fan account (mh), Tuesday, 4 February 2020 03:24 (six years ago)

m bison, no clue unless it’s a handful of outlier caucuses reporting the full numbers and not the delegate counts

babu frik fan account (mh), Tuesday, 4 February 2020 03:25 (six years ago)

thats what it says, but its like...the numbers are small.

majority whip, majority nae nae (m bison), Tuesday, 4 February 2020 03:29 (six years ago)

we had new cards where once you’re locked into your groups and are positive who you support, you fill out side one. if your candidate isn’t viable (15%) you fill out side two

a handful of people had to be called up because they filled out both sides for no reason and those cards were deemed invalid. ok, rules, whatever.

I think they’re holding off and reporting everything at once, which is not what makes good tv or live reporting

babu frik fan account (mh), Tuesday, 4 February 2020 03:31 (six years ago)

high turnout, yes
