Mike oversaw the guys building a meth bunker and then killed the one German guy that tried to get away
Nacho got co-opted by Gus
Jimmy ran some cellphone scams and managed to get reinstated to the bar

honestly couldn't care less about the Nacho/Gus storyline and wish the show was 90% Jimmy w/occasional Mike content

Οὖτις, Wednesday, 29 January 2020 23:48 (six years ago)

ha thank you

I'm gonna run with it

Suggest Banshee (Hadrian VIII), Wednesday, 29 January 2020 23:49 (six years ago)

And Saul/Kim? Basically finished, right, at the end of S4?

clemenza, Wednesday, 29 January 2020 23:51 (six years ago)

yeah

Οὖτις, Wednesday, 29 January 2020 23:53 (six years ago)

I think Kim's fate--how she gets written out--is the most intriguing thing for most viewers at this point.

clemenza, Thursday, 30 January 2020 00:00 (six years ago)

I don't think they were necessarily finished but Kim definitely was starting to have her doubts

I'm not sure they really need to explain why she's "written out" of BB, I don't know exactly what scenes she would've fit into. but yeah it seems pretty likely that relationship won't last.

frogbs, Thursday, 30 January 2020 00:05 (six years ago)

She had no place in BB, I agree, but it's more that--unless I've forgotten--Saul never even alludes to her; how did he so thoroughly erase her from his life? On the other hand, having just rewatched the entirety of BB, it struck me that Saul is almost a different character; kind of one-dimensionally funny, but not much more beyond that. So there's a disconnect that you probably just take as is, without requiring much explanation re Kim.

clemenza, Thursday, 30 January 2020 00:22 (six years ago)

she's either going to find out how much of a criminal jimmy and never speak to him again or is going to get killed imo

frederik b. godt (jim in vancouver), Thursday, 30 January 2020 00:27 (six years ago)

did jimmy get reinstated? why do I remember it not working out

k3vin k., Thursday, 30 January 2020 11:07 (six years ago)

It didn’t initially but then they staged an event to make jimmy appear more human and sincere re chuck’s death (some kind of benefit and “anonymous” donation iirc?)

Baby yoda laid an egg (wins), Thursday, 30 January 2020 11:17 (six years ago)

aw yeah, I remember that now

high point of the show was that hearing w/ the cellphone slipped in Chuck's pocket, they telegraphed that plot point from S1 but it was still really well done

anyway I really doubt they're gonna kill off Kim, she's really the one and only character in this series that you can root for

frogbs, Thursday, 30 January 2020 21:43 (six years ago)

is this the last season?

symsymsym, Friday, 31 January 2020 03:12 (six years ago)

no they announced 6 would be the last

frogbs, Friday, 31 January 2020 03:14 (six years ago)

well maybe they can kill her in the next season then

symsymsym, Friday, 31 January 2020 03:24 (six years ago)

Watching this again from the start. It might be a weird thing but I love the sound in S1, like just background sounds are a little heightened so the non-dialogue parts are really noticeable.

Also it's just a darn good show.

Corduroy Stridulations (GOTT PUNCH II HAWKWINDZ), Tuesday, 4 February 2020 06:34 (six years ago)

Oh god I forgot about the scam montage in S01E10 so good

Corduroy Stridulations (GOTT PUNCH II HAWKWINDZ), Wednesday, 5 February 2020 05:39 (six years ago)

If you're really interested in and attentive to sound, keep an eye open for Making Waves, a new documentary about sound design in movies--I posted about it in the documentary thread yesterday.

clemenza, Wednesday, 5 February 2020 16:10 (six years ago)

tempted to re-watch as it's such a delight. But there's a lot of it

kinder, Wednesday, 5 February 2020 18:30 (six years ago)

xp will do!

Corduroy Stridulations (GOTT PUNCH II HAWKWINDZ), Wednesday, 5 February 2020 23:30 (six years ago)

it's a minor thing but god bless whoever decided "our intro will be 20 seconds long." after watching Man in the High Castle, Westworld and The Expanse and feeling like i was being subjected to Art someone thought was Incredibly Important via their intros it's a nice change.

Corduroy Stridulations (GOTT PUNCH II HAWKWINDZ), Wednesday, 12 February 2020 02:04 (six years ago)

finally watching this for the first time.

Jimmy is taking on Sandpiper.

I enjoy all the micro-details that Gilligan and company get right in both this and Breaking Bad. the mundane bits are interesting.

this is a wee bit more dramatic than I expected but Odenkirk is always entertaining.

Barry Shabaka Henley!

sorry for butt rockin (Neanderthal), Tuesday, 18 February 2020 03:29 (six years ago)

I just finished seasons 1-4 for the second time and I think I actually like it a little more this time around.

Corduroy Stridulations (GOTT PUNCH II HAWKWINDZ), Tuesday, 18 February 2020 05:46 (six years ago)

Lol at Ehrmentraut throat-punching tall douchebag at the meet.

sorry for butt rockin (Neanderthal), Tuesday, 18 February 2020 05:47 (six years ago)

That tall guy did the voice for Trevor in GTA V, I feel compelled to point out despite general lack of interest.

Corduroy Stridulations (GOTT PUNCH II HAWKWINDZ), Tuesday, 18 February 2020 06:15 (six years ago)

Oh cool!

love this show but "Saul" in heavy doses sometimes stresses me out. I actually am uncomfortable with people that lie a lot, even fictitious ones. it's a me thing - i'm the worst liar in real life because the concept is alien to me

fascinating character he is though.

love seeing the slow, building incidental connection between Mike and him as well.

sorry for butt rockin (Neanderthal), Friday, 21 February 2020 02:44 (six years ago)

holy shit that video, classic "acting is a job I do" interview

mh, Friday, 21 February 2020 02:54 (six years ago)

out of all the voices I expected to come out of him.....

sorry for butt rockin (Neanderthal), Friday, 21 February 2020 02:55 (six years ago)

sorry for butt rockin (Neanderthal), Friday, 21 February 2020 02:55 (six years ago)

digging that guy's energy

Fuck the NRA (ulysses), Friday, 21 February 2020 16:04 (six years ago)

lol that is not at all what I thought he would sound like

frogbs, Friday, 21 February 2020 16:08 (six years ago)

"Here's what's gonna happen. One day you're gonna get sick – again. One of your employees is gonna find you curled up in that space blanket, take you to the hospital, hook you up to those machines that beep and whir and hurt. And this time, it will be too much. And you will die there. Alone."

Ho...lee....shit

sorry for butt rockin (Neanderthal), Saturday, 22 February 2020 17:18 (six years ago)

I never expected the arc they gave "Saul" on this show. But I'm happy they did.

Still in Season 3.

sorry for butt rockin (Neanderthal), Saturday, 22 February 2020 17:18 (six years ago)

Wtf this isn’t on Hulu

frogbs, Sunday, 23 February 2020 15:13 (six years ago)

afaik Netflix gets the previous season about two weeks before the new season, every time.

Fantastic. Great move. Well done (sic), Sunday, 23 February 2020 16:15 (six years ago)

So maybe the secret construction slaga to: Mike crosses the Rubicon ov blood yet again shoka--will actually be redeemed, in terms of possibly promising consequences (the basic tension, many faces of Gus, better not say more if you haven't seen the season opener). Other good stuff more as expected, but good. Adios, Robert Forster!

dow, Monday, 24 February 2020 06:02 (six years ago)

sloga

dow, Monday, 24 February 2020 06:03 (six years ago)

So Gus pinned the drug blame on Werner? It is a frame, right?

dow, Monday, 24 February 2020 06:05 (six years ago)

My unofficial broadcast finished suddenly with Kim in a stairwell--was that the actual end?

Tsar Bombadil (James Morrison), Tuesday, 25 February 2020 00:51 (six years ago)

First two episodes were pretty good (I had to wait an extra day to see them)--meant to rewatch the last episode of S4 as a bridge, but I think I'm more or less up to speed. I like the D.A. Saul cuts the deals with in the elevator.

clemenza, Tuesday, 25 February 2020 03:23 (six years ago)

Normally when you watch a show part of the excitement is finding out what happens next but this show wouldn't be as good if we didn't know what happened to Jimmy. It's how he gets there that's interesting

paolo, Tuesday, 25 February 2020 10:31 (six years ago)

Though i would love some gene each episode.

Tsar Bombadil (James Morrison), Tuesday, 25 February 2020 10:46 (six years ago)

Highlight of the S5 opener was Robert Forster's presence (and the dedication at the end of the show).

clemenza, Tuesday, 25 February 2020 15:18 (six years ago)

I was worried that they were going to make his appearance dovetail with his appearance in the El Camino netflix movie. He gets off the phone as his front door chimes and they pan to the left to show Jesse Pinkman walking in.

Pretty sure we're a couple years down the line in the timeline, now, depending on how long he's been working at that Cinnabon
