feel like there are ppl who are internet vets that are basically numb to trifling behavior
then there are ppl who have not experienced deep online beef and are legitimately upset and bewildered
then there are ppl in the first category who are pretending to be in the second because it suits them

think you are on to something

babu frik fan account (mh), Wednesday, 29 January 2020 00:42 (six years ago)

is it trolling tho

(darraghpc) vs (darraghmac), Wednesday, 29 January 2020 00:47 (six years ago)

Ask Fred

El Tomboto, Wednesday, 29 January 2020 01:20 (six years ago)

not trolling in the trad sense, but very much in the “building a platform” sense

babu frik fan account (mh), Wednesday, 29 January 2020 01:47 (six years ago)

yeah trolling is for fun these ppl are marketing

lag∞n, Wednesday, 29 January 2020 02:10 (six years ago)

or genuinely feel they’re taking a real stance which I sometimes detect

in which case a big social media vacation is a good idea

babu frik fan account (mh), Wednesday, 29 January 2020 02:35 (six years ago)

that is to say Brad otm

babu frik fan account (mh), Wednesday, 29 January 2020 02:36 (six years ago)

yeah some of these ppl are obvs quite insane

lag∞n, Wednesday, 29 January 2020 02:39 (six years ago)

tbh riling up your own emotions by pushing social media interactions until you find the right formula to get engagement is exhilarating

I’ve probably done it! people have spun off sites with engagement as low as ilx by doing it! it is generally bad for you

babu frik fan account (mh), Wednesday, 29 January 2020 02:51 (six years ago)

yeah sorry i'm being obtuse and media-insider-y

twitter is like this.

today, clicking through twitter threads about politics, i came across 1.) john cusack 2.) raffi and 3.) an ilxor

treeship., Wednesday, 29 January 2020 03:30 (six years ago)

lmao

lag∞n, Wednesday, 29 January 2020 03:30 (six years ago)

i think the platform is only fun if you have a checkmark honestly. "public" people seem to use it more, and it holds no appeal for me. even though let's be honest i would be the best tweeter of all time.

treeship., Wednesday, 29 January 2020 03:30 (six years ago)

its a power user network if u dont go on it for one day its bewildering and insane

lag∞n, Wednesday, 29 January 2020 03:32 (six years ago)

I follow 107 accounts at least half of which must be completely inactive about this point and disabled retweets on half the rest and it’s Good

Swilling Ambergris, Esq. (silby), Wednesday, 29 January 2020 03:34 (six years ago)

turn my retweets back on coward

lag∞n, Wednesday, 29 January 2020 03:35 (six years ago)

I am not at all amazed that john cusack has been shown to have mostly the right stances but be kind of ephemerally dumb and very horny based on his twitter interactions

peeling back that thin curtain is something twitter has given us. if I am on the verge of celebrity I’m going to change my name and then have one of the Gravel teens be paid to run my new account

the perfect man, an inspiration

lag∞n, Wednesday, 29 January 2020 03:41 (six years ago)

if i ever actually got into twitter, i could probably lose years of my life on there.

i don't understand how journalists get anything done when they tweet every 2 hours.

treeship., Wednesday, 29 January 2020 03:50 (six years ago)

it's engrossing and massively self-referential in the manner of like, finnegans wake, but that's why it's important to steer clear, avoid the siren's call, whatever

treeship., Wednesday, 29 January 2020 03:52 (six years ago)

the most insane and thrillingly dystopian part of it these days is that people are always accusing others of being russian bots or trolls spreading disinformation

treeship., Wednesday, 29 January 2020 03:55 (six years ago)

following/unfollowing anonymously and refraining from posting yourself is the only way to go imo

Dan S, Wednesday, 29 January 2020 03:56 (six years ago)

I’ve never done that fwiw xp

Swilling Ambergris, Esq. (silby), Wednesday, 29 January 2020 03:56 (six years ago)

good i wldnt want you to miss the retweets

lag∞n, Wednesday, 29 January 2020 04:01 (six years ago)

No I’ve def disabled your rts but I’ve never called anyone a bot

Don’t worry tho I click to your profile to view your RTs in batches

Swilling Ambergris, Esq. (silby), Wednesday, 29 January 2020 04:02 (six years ago)

jfc

lag∞n, Wednesday, 29 January 2020 04:04 (six years ago)

You were just doin a whole lot of them dude

Swilling Ambergris, Esq. (silby), Wednesday, 29 January 2020 04:04 (six years ago)

thats why its important to keep them on

lag∞n, Wednesday, 29 January 2020 04:05 (six years ago)

majority whip, majority nae nae (m bison), Wednesday, 29 January 2020 04:09 (six years ago)

i love that theres a million sub 100 follower accounts who tweet "say hello to your boss PUTIN" all day

lag∞n, Wednesday, 29 January 2020 04:11 (six years ago)

they are humans but also in many ways they are bots which is ironic

lag∞n, Wednesday, 29 January 2020 04:11 (six years ago)

they have ben programmed by the russians to be mad at the russians

majority whip, majority nae nae (m bison), Wednesday, 29 January 2020 04:12 (six years ago)

theyve hacked......themselves

lag∞n, Wednesday, 29 January 2020 04:14 (six years ago)

I get the retweet as example, when someone with a lot of followers retweets weird abuse or comments going “what the heck”

but at the same fine, the abusive tweeter is like some guy who has five followers, fifty tweets total, and most of them are retweets of barstool sports or perpetual harassment of some chick with an onlyfans link

babu frik fan account (mh), Wednesday, 29 January 2020 04:31 (six years ago)

I have a tiny number of followers that see my insanely rare tweets but they’re all irl friends, ilx people, local people I interact with on twitter, and some that I’ve branched our with on those lines

if I was a brooklyn media person I’d inevitably get retweeted a couple times by a peer who had a following and pick up people, then feel the need to feed the machine and go insane

Stately pleasure dome decree
Xanadu du du
Sacred river sunless sea
Fertile ground, girdled round
Blossomed incense-bearing tree
Come and dance every night, to the dulcimer lady

many xps to daniel: yes, troussé is an ilxor and an ilxor who still posts -- i too am unsure of the etiquette of doxxing at this point
