I always get the sense, when the camera pans to the Utd bench, that Ole, Phelan et al look like they've sneaked in off the street and been caught trespassing.

Ngolo Cantwell (Chinaski), Thursday, 23 January 2020 08:11 (six years ago)

they are an 80s caper of a management outfit, its a joke tbh

Catherine, Boner of JP Sweeney & Co (darraghmac), Thursday, 23 January 2020 08:35 (six years ago)

The Glazers have sure cratered a legacy!

calzino, Thursday, 23 January 2020 08:51 (six years ago)

have we any theories (forget if we had) as to why poch isnt already in at utd?

levy clause in still-operational contract?

glazers happy with a yes-man regardless of on-pitch matters?

actual belief somewhere that he is a football manager?

poch wants a break?

Catherine, Boner of JP Sweeney & Co (darraghmac), Thursday, 23 January 2020 12:25 (six years ago)

The Glazers only really care about on-pitch matters to the extent that they affect the financial side of things, which arguably isn't the case yet (but would increasingly become so, assuming United can't finish in the top four). Woodward's priority is to keep himself in a job so he has a vested interest in not having to say 'woops - I fucked up the choice of manager again! - sorry about that'. Moyes was kept on until it was mathematically impossible to qualify for the CL, even though he was a dead man walking for at least a couple of months before that. Van Gaal was kept on for at least six months longer than anybody wanted him. Mourinho looked like he expected to be sacked at the end of the early season home defeat against Spurs, but still lingered on for three or four months (and was probably only eventually booted out because it was becoming toxic to keep him). I could be wrong, but I think it's likely that OGS won't be sacked during the transfer window and might survive until the end of the season (though I'd be surprised if he lasts any longer than that).

the salacious inaudible (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Thursday, 23 January 2020 14:00 (six years ago)

otm, and despite the nasty paying fans singing mean things about Woodward and upsetting a couple of pundits Ole seems to function as a reasonable shield for him at the moment, why risk more turmoil?

the Swedish taboo (Noodle Vague), Thursday, 23 January 2020 14:06 (six years ago)

oh hang on, Tevez to save the day

the Swedish taboo (Noodle Vague), Thursday, 23 January 2020 14:12 (six years ago)

cheers thats kinda what i thought alright

eesh

Catherine, Boner of JP Sweeney & Co (darraghmac), Thursday, 23 January 2020 14:18 (six years ago)

It must be getting to the point where managers won't want the job. Given the state of things, why would Poch choose (if he is - and it's arguable? - in a position to choose) Utd over say, Bayern or even Dortmund?

Ngolo Cantwell (Chinaski), Thursday, 23 January 2020 14:28 (six years ago)

very few managers get a crack at a job like that that dont already exhibit significant levels of delusion over their personal powers.

sometimes it even works for a time

Catherine, Boner of JP Sweeney & Co (darraghmac), Thursday, 23 January 2020 14:34 (six years ago)

Van Gaal was well and truly through that particular looking glass and Ferguson had led Moyes through by the ear: is Poch there yet?

Ngolo Cantwell (Chinaski), Thursday, 23 January 2020 14:36 (six years ago)

...
.......

i dont think pochs energia universale has been fully plumbed yet as a concept/theory, but imo there's simply no way he imagines he could fail to turn united around in glory

and like yknow hes worked under levy so

Catherine, Boner of JP Sweeney & Co (darraghmac), Thursday, 23 January 2020 14:38 (six years ago)

Woodward being incompetent is the Occam's razor answer here. But yes fully expect him to move for Poch just after he's already opened detailed talks about the Bayern job.

Matt DC, Thursday, 23 January 2020 15:18 (six years ago)

no doubt awaiting for pochs release clause to go up to 50m

Catherine, Boner of JP Sweeney & Co (darraghmac), Thursday, 23 January 2020 15:43 (six years ago)

do they normally play "Stairway" before starting lineups?

... that's Traore! (Neanderthal), Thursday, 23 January 2020 19:58 (six years ago)

Jota and Boly in the 18 (not starting, obv)

... that's Traore! (Neanderthal), Thursday, 23 January 2020 19:59 (six years ago)

fuck.

... that's Traore! (Neanderthal), Thursday, 23 January 2020 20:08 (six years ago)

are you kidding me, Neves? jesus christ

... that's Traore! (Neanderthal), Thursday, 23 January 2020 20:12 (six years ago)

guy next to him was clearly offside, idk if they woulda VARed it anyway and determined that he influenced the play.

... that's Traore! (Neanderthal), Thursday, 23 January 2020 20:13 (six years ago)

definitely opportunities though so far

... that's Traore! (Neanderthal), Thursday, 23 January 2020 20:15 (six years ago)

lots of opportunities actually

... that's Traore! (Neanderthal), Thursday, 23 January 2020 20:18 (six years ago)

Hope that's not too serious for Máne there

Saxophone Of Futility (Michael B), Thursday, 23 January 2020 20:33 (six years ago)

masterful block by Doherty there.

... that's Traore! (Neanderthal), Thursday, 23 January 2020 20:47 (six years ago)

i'm not too disappointed with that half. obviously the goal was frustrating, and the opportunities that presented themselves started to dry up towards the end of the half, but they're still in this one.

... that's Traore! (Neanderthal), Thursday, 23 January 2020 20:48 (six years ago)

Traore's 2 giveaways in his own area there shocking but lucky to get away unscathed. he's been a little weird today. crosses aren't really going anywhere, overdribbling rather than making available passes. need more from him.

... that's Traore! (Neanderthal), Thursday, 23 January 2020 21:06 (six years ago)

TIED UP BABY YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS YESSSSSSSSSSS

Jfc Robbo

Goal came about really from Salah making the wrong decision again

Saxophone Of Futility (Michael B), Thursday, 23 January 2020 21:10 (six years ago)

Salah could have had two goals by now if he wasn't either making unnecessary maneuvers prior to shooting or firing the ball too early when he has teammates available in the immediate area for tap-ins.

... that's Traore! (Neanderthal), Thursday, 23 January 2020 21:12 (six years ago)

couldn't tell if máne was actually hurt or just tired of salah not giving him the ball

mookieproof, Thursday, 23 January 2020 21:14 (six years ago)

god 30 minutes is gonna be an eternity against Liverpool here. let's get a second one Wolves.

regardless, fun match so far. has its lulls but can't complain

... that's Traore! (Neanderthal), Thursday, 23 January 2020 21:19 (six years ago)

Traore needed another step or two before firign taht one off, though still....they're looking much more confident now

... that's Traore! (Neanderthal), Thursday, 23 January 2020 21:32 (six years ago)

Jota for Neto!

... that's Traore! (Neanderthal), Thursday, 23 January 2020 21:35 (six years ago)

... that's Traore! (Neanderthal), Thursday, 23 January 2020 21:42 (six years ago)

luck ran out there. only so many times Liverpool are gonna blow point blank opps

... that's Traore! (Neanderthal), Thursday, 23 January 2020 21:43 (six years ago)

ugh , shame it had to be a rusty Jota taking that one

... that's Traore! (Neanderthal), Thursday, 23 January 2020 21:50 (six years ago)

meh. proud of the boys, gutting to lose the draw with that little left. at least that's the last time we'll see them in league play

... that's Traore! (Neanderthal), Thursday, 23 January 2020 21:52 (six years ago)

the Swedish taboo (Noodle Vague), Thursday, 23 January 2020 23:38 (six years ago)

Re: Stairway they don't generally play it but I dunno if you know N Robert Plant is a regular at the Mol and Wolves for life

the Swedish taboo (Noodle Vague), Thursday, 23 January 2020 23:40 (six years ago)

Did not, that's awesome!

... that's Traore! (Neanderthal), Thursday, 23 January 2020 23:40 (six years ago)

whole jota love

Catherine, Boner of JP Sweeney & Co (darraghmac), Thursday, 23 January 2020 23:41 (six years ago)

What Is and What Should Neves Be

Frozen Mug (Tom D.), Thursday, 23 January 2020 23:42 (six years ago)

Before Fosun bought the club local journos used to ask Plant on the regular if he wanted to buy in and his answer was always along the lines of "no I want to enjoy watching us"

the Swedish taboo (Noodle Vague), Thursday, 23 January 2020 23:43 (six years ago)

you mean i should sell my spurs shares

Catherine, Boner of JP Sweeney & Co (darraghmac), Thursday, 23 January 2020 23:43 (six years ago)

Not at the price there at now.

Frozen Mug (Tom D.), Thursday, 23 January 2020 23:48 (six years ago)

Good times, bad times

... that's Traore! (Neanderthal), Friday, 24 January 2020 00:25 (six years ago)

the wolves goal was so beautiful from chest pass to neck straining body twisting header

oscar bravo, Friday, 24 January 2020 06:48 (six years ago)

Wolves are a great team. Hope they finish fourth and go deep in the Europa.

I'm not sure their backline is the problem, probably just the depth over all? Need more players to slot into the system.
