absolutely don't believe the Dani Olmo story, his agent's just trying to ramp the price. Nelson Oliveira would be decent respite cover for Raul tho.

I was born with a rare behavioural disorder that causes me to violently wristlock anybody who offers to predetermine the outcome of a professional football fixture for me and I tell you what if you offered me a point out of tonight's game I'd snap your hand off

Dadjokke (Sgt. Biscuits), Tuesday, 21 January 2020 17:16 (six years ago)

probably best not to talk about snapping bones before playing Watford

You love to see it

the Swedish taboo (Noodle Vague), Tuesday, 21 January 2020 21:28 (six years ago)

just think, you could have snapped off someone's hand and gotten 2 fewer points!

opden gnash (imago), Tuesday, 21 January 2020 21:29 (six years ago)

Everton lol

ShariVari, Tuesday, 21 January 2020 21:31 (six years ago)

Watford time-wasting from the 30th minute lmao

Dadjokke (Sgt. Biscuits), Tuesday, 21 January 2020 21:33 (six years ago)

Lejeune 90+4
Lejeune 90+5

ShariVari, Tuesday, 21 January 2020 21:33 (six years ago)

omg lol Ancelotti will be hitting the vino

the Swedish taboo (Noodle Vague), Tuesday, 21 January 2020 21:35 (six years ago)

I wish everyone at Newcastle United Football Club other than Steve Bruce would accept the necessity of Steve Bruce no longer being a thing people have to think about

Dadjokke (Sgt. Biscuits), Tuesday, 21 January 2020 21:35 (six years ago)

now if only Arsenal would finish the job

the Swedish taboo (Noodle Vague), Tuesday, 21 January 2020 21:38 (six years ago)

really wish somebody at the Beeb would tell Karen Carney she's supposed to maintain the illusion of neutrality

the Swedish taboo (Noodle Vague), Tuesday, 21 January 2020 21:40 (six years ago)

I will go to my grave maintaining that this Liverpool team aren't that good

and we're not even in the same universe as them

― Number None, Sunday, January 19, 2020 6:22 PM (three days ago) bookmarkflaglink

Quite a lot of United fans think this – certainly those I listened to on UWS podcast after the game.

in twelve parts (lamonti), Wednesday, 22 January 2020 09:46 (six years ago)

They're all completely wrong obv

in twelve parts (lamonti), Wednesday, 22 January 2020 09:47 (six years ago)

I've difficulty parsing "Liverpool aren't that good". Aren't as good as what/who? Not as good as the media make them out to be? (because that rings true) Not as good as the 16 points gap they have? (because that's bollox) Not as good as the Invincibles? Or as Man City a couple of years ago? What's the measure here?

Le Bateau Ivre, Wednesday, 22 January 2020 09:52 (six years ago)

they have the best back 4 + goalie in the league, an insanely talented front 3 and the mf3 facilitates both. they're good. not the kind of god level good that 91 pts from the last 93 available would suggest but that's a function of 3/4 of the whole league having a worse team than last season.

oscar bravo, Wednesday, 22 January 2020 10:02 (six years ago)

i mean wolves were good last season and now they're the same with added nu traore so they've improved. everyone else worse. newcastle have improved points wise but still seem capable of reeling off 8 or 9 straight defeats from what i've seen.

oscar bravo, Wednesday, 22 January 2020 10:05 (six years ago)

oh and leicester have improved.

oscar bravo, Wednesday, 22 January 2020 10:06 (six years ago)

I agree they are good, and way above the rest. Maybe not 'good' as in beautiful football (subjective anyway), but def 'good' as in rock solid and rarely having a day off.

Le Bateau Ivre, Wednesday, 22 January 2020 10:16 (six years ago)

they're a lot better than good, the environment doesnt lend itself to handing out kickings- too many teams in the epl are too hard to play against, but they are impossible to match up to all over the pitch, and there are very few teams around with that balance

Catherine, Boner of JP Sweeney & Co (darraghmac), Wednesday, 22 January 2020 10:28 (six years ago)

Feeling like I've heard this 'everyone else is worse than they were last season' excuse before.

Frozen Mug (Tom D.), Wednesday, 22 January 2020 10:44 (six years ago)

im saying the opposite tbh

Catherine, Boner of JP Sweeney & Co (darraghmac), Wednesday, 22 January 2020 11:16 (six years ago)

Yes, and you are otm.

Le Bateau Ivre, Wednesday, 22 January 2020 11:20 (six years ago)

Might be going out on a limb here, bit imo this Liverpool team are quite good.

mfktz (Camaraderie at Arms Length), Wednesday, 22 January 2020 11:26 (six years ago)

Wile E. Coyote finally gonna catch kill and eat that roadrunner

Appleman Appears: 20/2/2020. Whose Cider You On? (Bananaman Begins), Wednesday, 22 January 2020 11:31 (six years ago)

Come now, city, chelsea, spurs and arsenal are all clearly worse than last season and the last two weren't much good then!

oscar bravo, Wednesday, 22 January 2020 14:12 (six years ago)

The bottom clubs seem much better this time around tbh

opden gnash (imago), Wednesday, 22 January 2020 14:21 (six years ago)

Norwich being the standout relegation fodder, and they're playing some decent stuff

opden gnash (imago), Wednesday, 22 January 2020 14:21 (six years ago)

yeah im referring to the overall standard of the league

agreed that the other five of the 'big six' as was are all in varying states of decay but the run of dross that couldve usually been expected from say 12th down, and in some years 8th down, hasnt really materialised this season (obv the two things are linked)

Catherine, Boner of JP Sweeney & Co (darraghmac), Wednesday, 22 January 2020 14:33 (six years ago)

You could make a fairly decent case for this Liverpool team being the best club side in the world at the moment, in the top two or three at the very least.

Matt DC, Wednesday, 22 January 2020 15:06 (six years ago)

Probably not the best squad, maybe not the best individual players, but the best organised and most effective team? They're up there.

They've been immensely lucky with injuries though, Matip notwithstanding.

Matt DC, Wednesday, 22 January 2020 15:09 (six years ago)

A decent case? I assume it's absolutely the case tbh

opden gnash (imago), Wednesday, 22 January 2020 15:09 (six years ago)

The real quiz is whether City are second

opden gnash (imago), Wednesday, 22 January 2020 15:10 (six years ago)

Alison has missed a quarter of the season and their best midfielder has been out for a couple of months.

oscar bravo, Wednesday, 22 January 2020 15:11 (six years ago)

Their fortune comes more from not having suffered injuries in the positions they don' t have any back up ie full back, where James Milner is the only adult alternative.

oscar bravo, Wednesday, 22 January 2020 15:15 (six years ago)

I'm not sure who would challenge them for that title - though, again, you could make the argument that says as much about the failings of Europe's elite clubs as the strengths of Liverpool.

ShariVari, Wednesday, 22 January 2020 15:24 (six years ago)

"Liverpool won the Premiership - but joke's on them, the Premiership isn't worth what it was!"

Rhoda from Steubenville (Neanderthal), Wednesday, 22 January 2020 15:59 (six years ago)

I'd "snap your hand off"

Dadjokke (Sgt. Biscuits), Wednesday, 22 January 2020 16:14 (six years ago)

I'm not interested in your meaningless facts lads

Number None, Wednesday, 22 January 2020 16:32 (six years ago)

its the least interesting title ever won tho

even the battle for fourth is utter shit

Catherine, Boner of JP Sweeney & Co (darraghmac), Wednesday, 22 January 2020 17:11 (six years ago)

The battle for 8th is shaping up nicley.

Frozen Mug (Tom D.), Wednesday, 22 January 2020 18:09 (six years ago)

xp speak for yourself

the Swedish taboo (Noodle Vague), Wednesday, 22 January 2020 18:31 (six years ago)

Well Wolves are about to deal Pool their first loss u heard it here first

Rhoda from Steubenville (Neanderthal), Wednesday, 22 January 2020 18:38 (six years ago)

Well technically my bookie did

Rhoda from Steubenville (Neanderthal), Wednesday, 22 January 2020 18:38 (six years ago)

Liverpool are going to be hammered by someone soon, wolves as good a bet as anyone else.

thomasintrouble, Wednesday, 22 January 2020 18:40 (six years ago)

Jota and Boly technically available for selection tomorrow tho i'd be surprised if either start or if Willy's on the bench tbh

hope you got good odds tho Nee

the Swedish taboo (Noodle Vague), Wednesday, 22 January 2020 18:44 (six years ago)

Best not to rush Willy back so i hope they err on caution

Rhoda from Steubenville (Neanderthal), Wednesday, 22 January 2020 18:47 (six years ago)

yeah there's no need to rush it.

i fancy us to have a chance against anybody in the league and 4th certainly isn't beyond us but this is well beyond start of season expectations

the Swedish taboo (Noodle Vague), Wednesday, 22 January 2020 18:50 (six years ago)

Leicester will be mid table by the end of the season so 3rd and 4th still up for grabs.

Frozen Mug (Tom D.), Wednesday, 22 January 2020 19:34 (six years ago)
