Bob Seger >> Sabbath at that point though

TikTok to the (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Monday, 20 January 2020 04:55 (six years ago)

I like that the NYT has endorsed the two women left in the race

Dan S, Monday, 20 January 2020 04:57 (six years ago)

Incredible that they did all this just to embarrass the shit out of Mayor Pete with the price fixing video.

Greta Van Show Feets BB (milo z), Monday, 20 January 2020 04:58 (six years ago)

So there was a vote of the whole board, and the top 4 was Warren, Klobuchar, Booker, and Buttigieg. Then apparently Kathleen Kingsbury went away and made the final decision.

jaymc, Monday, 20 January 2020 04:59 (six years ago)

lol @ Sanders not even registering

DNC should watch out for loyal NYT readers trying to vote two times.

They should've endorsed Jeepers Creepers semi-star

Mario Meatwagon (Moodles), Monday, 20 January 2020 05:06 (six years ago)

whatever

Dan S, Monday, 20 January 2020 05:08 (six years ago)

Good news! We’re 23 hours from nobody on earth caring that the NYT endorsed anybody

Swilling Ambergris, Esq. (silby), Monday, 20 January 2020 05:11 (six years ago)

can't wait

ingredience (map), Monday, 20 January 2020 05:15 (six years ago)

this was pretty fucking funny though

ingredience (map), Monday, 20 January 2020 05:16 (six years ago)

So there was a vote of the whole board, and the top 4 was Warren, Klobuchar, Booker, and Buttigieg.

Pretty interesting that Biden and Sanders, the two candidates pretty consistently leading in the polls, were both this far down the list.

Guayaquil (eephus!), Monday, 20 January 2020 05:17 (six years ago)

Almost makes me feel like they should have just gone ahead and endorsed Booker in a "You fools won't listen what does it matter" kind of spirit.

Guayaquil (eephus!), Monday, 20 January 2020 05:18 (six years ago)

Ms. Warren often casts the net far too wide, placing the blame for a host of maladies from climate change to gun violence at the feet of the business community when the onus is on society as a whole. The country needs a more unifying path.

difficult listening hour, Monday, 20 January 2020 05:35 (six years ago)

omfg

Suggest Banshee (Hadrian VIII), Monday, 20 January 2020 05:41 (six years ago)

would it be more or less unifying to place the blame for climate change on society as a whole

j., Monday, 20 January 2020 05:44 (six years ago)

There will be those dissatisfied that this page is not throwing its weight behind a single candidate, favoring centrists or progressives. But it’s a fight the party itself has been itching to have since Mrs. Clinton’s defeat in 2016, and one that should be played out in the public arena and in the privacy of the voting booth. That’s the very purpose of primaries, to test-market strategies and ideas that can galvanize and inspire the country.

Ms. Klobuchar and Ms. Warren right now are the Democrats best equipped to lead that debate.

May the best woman win.

did the nyt editorial board just make a verb out of test-market

But guess what? Nobody gives a toot!😂 (Karl Malone), Monday, 20 January 2020 05:52 (six years ago)

The embarrassing breakdown of NYT Editorial Board members' "top two candidates" picks - 30 votes in total - are as follows:

Warren: 8
Klobuchar: 7
Booker: 6
Buttigieg: 4
Biden: 3
Sanders: 1
Bloomberg: 1

— Nima Shirazi (@WideAsleepNima) January 20, 2020

But guess what? Nobody gives a toot!😂 (Karl Malone), Monday, 20 January 2020 05:55 (six years ago)

"Many Democratic voters are concerned first and foremost about who can beat Mr. Trump. But with a crowded field and with traditional polling in tatters, that calculation calls for a hefty dose of humility about anyone’s ability to foretell what voters want."

haha, ok then. i'm going to bed

But guess what? Nobody gives a toot!😂 (Karl Malone), Monday, 20 January 2020 06:03 (six years ago)

The NYT opinion page is broken beyond repair.

a Mets fan who gave up on everything in the mid '80s (Dr Morbius), Monday, 20 January 2020 08:55 (six years ago)

It's pretty hilarious. They think both Bernie and Biden are too old, but 'good news!' there's someone else ready to take over as leader of that wing of the party. Except with Klobuchar it's clearly not true, she is absolutely nowhere in the polls. They are just trying to will a centrist standard bearer into existence, because, well, they would like for it to seem like centrism isn't completely debunked. It's the definition of insanity.

This is not a serous intellectual exercise. This is the losers of history, grappling for relevancy..

Frederik B, Monday, 20 January 2020 08:58 (six years ago)

So, I guess @AmyKlobuchar and I are now both undefeated in elections and undefeated in New York Times endorsements! https://t.co/8848fMGc16

It’s probably just my own faulty memory, but can anyone remember the media collectively trying this hard to will a candidate into existence in the past? AMY KLOBUCHAR IS NOT GOING TO BE PRESIDENT.

this is great

totally unnecessary bewbz of exploitation (DJP), Monday, 20 January 2020 14:34 (six years ago)

Also a possibility

Betcha anything that the NYT Ed. Board itself overwhelmingly chose Warren, but Sulzberger, who has the last word, couldn't abide that so insisted they dilute the value of the endorsement by also giving it to the corporate, non-viable Dem Klobuchar.

And this is why plutocracy sux

That's not the case, if the vote breakdown I spotted somewhere is accurate.

bold caucasian eroticism (Simon H.), Monday, 20 January 2020 14:56 (six years ago)

(I don't remember all the specifics, except that Warren and the Klobberer got 7 apiece. Bernie got 1, presumably Liz Bruenig if she got a vote.)

bold caucasian eroticism (Simon H.), Monday, 20 January 2020 14:58 (six years ago)

opinion columnists don't have seats on the editorial board apparently

international sword swallower, producer and creative director (bizarro gazzara), Monday, 20 January 2020 15:02 (six years ago)

warren got 8 in that breakdown. klob still inexplicably 7

american bradass (BradNelson), Monday, 20 January 2020 15:04 (six years ago)

vote breakdown is upthread, apparently EW got 8 to Klobber's 7

as someone asked, why would Bernie want the NYT's endorsement?

the klobmentum is palpable
