Mr Derek and Mr Roy are my era. It's weird that despite all his other acting achievements my first thought of him was of being Mr Derek.

It's a strange feeling, watching your childhood disappear piece by piece. RIP.

This led to my partner and I discovering that we both fancied "Mr Derek" in his Basil Brush days. The things you learn.

Chris Darrow of Kaleidoscope:

I won't lie--until five minutes ago, I couldn't have named anyone in the band except David Lindley. Anyway, one of '67's greatest and weirdest songs:

Yup. One of the Kaleidoscope guys (maybe even Darrow himself) said in Unterberger's Wayfaring Strangers that they felt CVB best carried their influence.

He cast a long shadow over here, first and foremost for running the Jazz performance program at Queens College for so many years, even for those of us who didn't go to that program.

Holy crap, the way it's been reported he supposedly closed his eyes, apologized, and ... just died.

Directed it, cowrote it with the team and had to pull off this scene in particular wearing nothing but a fake beard. (The sheer physical comedy of him capering off towards the juniper bush is amazing.) Hero.
