I thought the heist episode (this season) was really funny and I also thought the dragon episode was funny. I mean, they've all been funny so far.

just saw my first ep of this, the heist ep, that was some silly funny shit. i’m rather mystified by who the audience is tho, references are old and rapid. if i existed in 2014 when thred started i’d have like 6 years of viewing by which to suss it out.

I don't get some of the references and I'm older than most of the viewing audience, so I imagine much of the audience doesn't either. The sheer volume of stuff - plot, dialogue, visuals, and gags - means it's still enjoyable even if you miss some things

That said, I am a little surprised the show is as popular as it is

I think they threw in too many ephemeral goods (boglins, ecto-coolers, etc.) this season to avoid future mulan sauce incidents, where fanatics went after the single ephemeral good they mentioned.

I think this is probably why in the UK E4 were going to hang back and just broadcast the series in spring when it was complete. Glad they didn't wait tbf to them

season 4 still isn't on UK netflix which is quite annoying seeing as this is near enough the only show I've seen on it that I like and actually consistently makes me laugh.

I was in a daft giggly mood this aft and couldn't stop laughing at the ep where he turns himself into a pickle to escape therapy and the vindicators one with the ghost train hero "all aboard!".

i understand that, but there were plenty of layers of irony in there--it was a shot at critics who think the show doesn't have well-drawn female characters, an in-character joke about a 14-year-old boy's idea about how women communicate with each other, etc.

for sure, but the show DOESN'T have well-drawn female characters (or any characters really, everybody's a vehicle) and the "is lesbian part of her job description" line in tandem with the suggestion that "hey that DID meet the bechdel test, suck it feminists" all added up to

second half of season 4 starts on e4 on thursday

VC, beyond the thin veneer of one sentence character (Jerry is a narcissist fuck-up, Summer is the renegade teen who's as smart as she thinks she is), I read ALL the characters as vehicles for whatever pops into the creators' heads! Which is fine, I'm not watching this for dramatic insight, I'm watching it for the yuks. The issue for me is when they get into 'makes u think' social commentary with particular hamhandedness on topics that they not only don't care about but that don't concern them in the slightest. This was one of those.

best thing about this episode was no jerry, the worst character
