best part was all the snakes watching in awe as Hissler's palace overflows with time travelling snake corpses

FRAUDULENT STEAKS (The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall), Tuesday, 17 December 2019 15:35 (six years ago)

i dont know if its from the new season or not

The World According To.... (Michael B), Tuesday, 17 December 2019 15:35 (six years ago)

Snake Planet was hilarious.

SQUIRREL MEAT!! (Capitaine Jay Vee), Wednesday, 18 December 2019 08:56 (six years ago)

best part was all the snakes watching in awe as Hissler's palace overflows with time travelling snake corpses

yeah i lolled at that, also when the warning note to Snake Lincoln just said "SSSS"

a very powerful woman in the dog world (Noodle Vague), Wednesday, 18 December 2019 22:48 (six years ago)

I thought the heist episode (this season) was really funny and I also thought the dragon episode was funny. I mean, they've all been funny so far.

Josh in Chicago, Wednesday, 18 December 2019 22:55 (six years ago)

omg snake jazz!!

Josh in Chicago, Thursday, 19 December 2019 21:24 (six years ago)

one month passes...

just saw my first ep of this, the heist ep, that was some silly funny shit. i’m rather mystified by who the audience is tho, references are old and rapid. if i existed in 2014 when thred started i’d have like 6 years of viewing by which to suss it out.

in a mellow, balmy way (Hunt3r), Monday, 20 January 2020 05:04 (six years ago)

I don't get some of the references and I'm older than most of the viewing audience, so I imagine much of the audience doesn't either. The sheer volume of stuff - plot, dialogue, visuals, and gags - means it's still enjoyable even if you miss some things

That said, I am a little surprised the show is as popular as it is

Vinnie, Monday, 20 January 2020 07:47 (six years ago)

I think they threw in too many ephemeral goods (boglins, ecto-coolers, etc.) this season to avoid future mulan sauce incidents, where fanatics went after the single ephemeral good they mentioned.

wasdnuos (abanana), Monday, 20 January 2020 08:28 (six years ago)

did the ch4 showing of these peter out after 4 or 5 episodes?

koogs, Thursday, 30 January 2020 18:40 (six years ago)

I've not seen a new one since Xmas

koogs, Thursday, 30 January 2020 18:40 (six years ago)

Seems to have for now, I assume it's just a hiatus

GK Chessington's World of Adventure (Noodle Vague), Thursday, 30 January 2020 18:41 (six years ago)

it was a five episode mini-season.

Fuck the NRA (ulysses), Thursday, 30 January 2020 18:44 (six years ago)

New ones due around April?

GK Chessington's World of Adventure (Noodle Vague), Thursday, 30 January 2020 18:46 (six years ago)

yea they're doing half-season rollouts.

billstevejim, Thursday, 30 January 2020 19:20 (six years ago)

I think this is probably why in the UK E4 were going to hang back and just broadcast the series in spring when it was complete. Glad they didn't wait tbf to them

GK Chessington's World of Adventure (Noodle Vague), Thursday, 30 January 2020 19:23 (six years ago)

Not unusual for animated shows. Bojack is doing a similar thing -- ending their series tomorrow with the last four eps.

billstevejim, Thursday, 30 January 2020 23:33 (six years ago)

Fuck, is it only four more BoJack? I assumed there'd be another 8

groovypanda, Friday, 31 January 2020 06:37 (six years ago)

No, it's 8.

Doubling down on out of date information (aldo), Friday, 31 January 2020 08:56 (six years ago)

Forgive the thread spam, but I wanted to note that this show's 2019 season is nominated in the 2019 ILX TV poll:

ILX's Best Television of 2019 Poll / VOTING AND CAMPAIGNING THREAD / Voting Ends January 31

If you like this show and you'd like to see it have a good showing in the poll (running in February) all you need to do is submit a ballot including it and your other favorites (4 minimum, 25 maximum, organized by your favorite to least favorite) to forksclovetofu at gmail by end of day today. It'll take five minutes; get to it!

Fuck the NRA (ulysses), Friday, 31 January 2020 14:29 (six years ago)

koogs, Friday, 1 May 2020 19:56 (six years ago)

Well that was the trollingest episode of any show ever, i am grudgingly impressed

Fuck the NRA (ulysses), Monday, 4 May 2020 04:47 (six years ago)

One anthology movie set on a train was Dr. Terror's House of Horrors. I'm sure there have been others.

wasdnous (abanana), Monday, 4 May 2020 06:09 (six years ago)

ok i laughed a bunch at this one esp towards the end

Mordy, Tuesday, 5 May 2020 02:27 (six years ago)

season 4 still isn't on UK netflix which is quite annoying seeing as this is near enough the only show I've seen on it that I like and actually consistently makes me laugh.

I was in a daft giggly mood this aft and couldn't stop laughing at the ep where he turns himself into a pickle to escape therapy and the vindicators one with the ghost train hero "all aboard!".

calzino, Tuesday, 5 May 2020 16:34 (six years ago)

xxp i was sure that it was gonna be a snowpiercer-type deal, but it pivoted rather impressively from there lol

sleight return (voodoo chili), Tuesday, 5 May 2020 17:04 (six years ago)

definitely too much to absorb in my first viewing. lots of funny gags, though, especially the bechdel test one

sleight return (voodoo chili), Tuesday, 5 May 2020 17:05 (six years ago)

man the bechdel joke one felt very much like chum for its core audience

Fuck the NRA (ulysses), Tuesday, 5 May 2020 17:11 (six years ago)

i understand that, but there were plenty of layers of irony in there--it was a shot at critics who think the show doesn't have well-drawn female characters, an in-character joke about a 14-year-old boy's idea about how women communicate with each other, etc.

sleight return (voodoo chili), Tuesday, 5 May 2020 17:18 (six years ago)

for sure, but the show DOESN'T have well-drawn female characters (or any characters really, everybody's a vehicle) and the "is lesbian part of her job description" line in tandem with the suggestion that "hey that DID meet the bechdel test, suck it feminists" all added up to

Fuck the NRA (ulysses), Tuesday, 5 May 2020 17:22 (six years ago)

(or any characters really, everybody's a vehicle)

rick is certainly a vehicle for whatever pops into the creators' heads, but come on.

sleight return (voodoo chili), Tuesday, 5 May 2020 17:30 (six years ago)

> season 4 still isn't on UK netflix

second half of season 4 starts on e4 on thursday

koogs, Tuesday, 5 May 2020 18:11 (six years ago)

VC, beyond the thin veneer of one sentence character (Jerry is a narcissist fuck-up, Summer is the renegade teen who's as smart as she thinks she is), I read ALL the characters as vehicles for whatever pops into the creators' heads! Which is fine, I'm not watching this for dramatic insight, I'm watching it for the yuks. The issue for me is when they get into 'makes u think' social commentary with particular hamhandedness on topics that they not only don't care about but that don't concern them in the slightest. This was one of those.

Fuck the NRA (ulysses), Tuesday, 5 May 2020 18:45 (six years ago)

best thing about this episode was no jerry, the worst character

wasdnous (abanana), Tuesday, 5 May 2020 19:01 (six years ago)

Calz they are on channel 4 now

a hoy hoy, Tuesday, 5 May 2020 19:02 (six years ago)

calzino, Tuesday, 5 May 2020 20:00 (six years ago)

meh still not on My4 player tho
