#1 no surprise
Souvenir at #6 is fine but still too low

Still a bit perplexed by how well High Life (FC's #7) is doing. Belated recognition of the director? It's probably in the poorer half of Denis's output, and among 2019's "lost in space" art films I liked Aniara more.

I hear great things about a couple of these but I wouldn't mind if they took a year off from Dolan worship

well he is only director on that list that most of us down south have heard of
― a Mets fan who gave up on everything in the mid '80s (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 11 December 2019 15:46 (six years ago)
The Body Remembers... is on Netflix, at least in Canada. I suspect Anne at 13,000 Ft will make some waves when it makes the rounds theatrically next year. (I haven't seen it but ppl I trust loved it, and it earns automatic points for its 75-minute runtime.)

(I'll say that, for the first time, I now feel Parasite actually will get that best picture nod.)
i thought everyone was unthrilled by Harriet
Just Mercy?

Classic industry awards gravitating toward the wrong middlebrow candidates. Ergo...
I know CLEMENCY is neither widely seen nor easy to watch, but to those who have, Alfre Woodard's near no-show in this year's awards season so far looks close to absurd: no American actor this year is working at a higher level of detail, complexity and emotional intuition.— Guy Lodge (@GuyLodge) December 11, 2019

Harriet, many have been quick to point out, actually made a fairly large chunk of change. More than any other best actress candidate outside of Lupita, so far.
This feels early this year:

At this point each year's Nat'l Film Registry list is about half eye-opening and incredibly cool-looking a-g or documentary works from the first half of the century, and half I Love the 80s/90s fodder.

what does the film registry actually do with the things it preserves? Obtain celluloid prints and place them in cold storage?

in NYC, Lincoln Center split La Flor into 5 parts, I think. Took me 13 days, I think.

it would be hilarious to watch one "part" per night considering the wildly divergent lengths of the parts
