― -_- (jim in vancouver), Tuesday, 19 November 2019 23:48 (yesterday) bookmarkflaglink

would say yes

mourinho looks done

cant say im optimistic that hes willing to change, or that a squad unwilling to follow poch will fawn over jose like he seems to require

yknow tho

those players getting moud

levy getting moud

is a fair penance after how each side treated poch, who lets not cry for, hes off to see if his "run into the ground, pass sideways and score every chance or we lose" will motivate some superstars elsewhere for his 8m a year

deems of internment (darraghmac), Wednesday, 20 November 2019 00:19 (six years ago)

would be genuinely sorry to see mou happen to spurs

Wee Bloabby (NickB), Wednesday, 20 November 2019 00:25 (six years ago)

Wee Bloabby (NickB), Wednesday, 20 November 2019 00:25 (six years ago)

leaks suggest poch expressed desire to leave but not lose his payout

well yeah. in a press conference, most days.

also by selecting aurier. any day.

deems of internment (darraghmac), Wednesday, 20 November 2019 07:24 (six years ago)

Why would any club want to go full nihilism w/ Mou after having witnessed the hellscape he created at ManU?

You were saying?

'Skills' Wallace (Tom D.), Wednesday, 20 November 2019 07:31 (six years ago)

Amazing.

Speaking on his appointment, Jose said: “I am excited to be joining a club with such a great heritage and such passionate supporters. The quality in both the squad and the academy excites me. Working with these players is what has attracted me.”

Trolling from day one A+

Le Bateau Ivre, Wednesday, 20 November 2019 07:43 (six years ago)

Talking of hellscapes, how better to describe an ILX stuffed full of Mourinho camp followers?

'Skills' Wallace (Tom D.), Wednesday, 20 November 2019 07:44 (six years ago)

I’ve long lost any frame of reference for whether Mourinho is a good manager or not. Looking forward to seeing how he gets on with Levy though.

Srinivasaraghavan VONCataraghavan (ShariVari), Wednesday, 20 November 2019 07:50 (six years ago)

we're not all camp

deems of internment (darraghmac), Wednesday, 20 November 2019 07:50 (six years ago)

deems of internment (darraghmac), Wednesday, 20 November 2019 07:51 (six years ago)

Resistance is futile.

It will be glorious. Props to Levy for injecting poison breathing new life into ilx's footy threads.

Le Bateau Ivre, Wednesday, 20 November 2019 07:55 (six years ago)

Man United v Spurs on Dec 4 btw

Wee Bloabby (NickB), Wednesday, 20 November 2019 07:59 (six years ago)

Bring it!

Wee Bloabby (NickB), Wednesday, 20 November 2019 07:59 (six years ago)

Who do we think is going to be the Luke Shaw/Juan Mata sacrificial lamb? Eriksen would be the easy option but I think Mourinho might get more pleasure out of destroying Danny Rose or Son instead.

Ndombele though - he's the one player in the squad who I can see Mourinho turning into one of the best midfielders in Europe.

First presser of pre-season... "This isn't my squad, none of these will play, my squad is at the Euros still."

First presser of new season... "I needed four new players, Mr Levy worked very hard to get me the zero we got. I don't know what happened with Perisic."#THFC

wonder how much amazon slipped levy for this plot twist?

oscar bravo, Wednesday, 20 November 2019 11:25 (six years ago)

The news from THFC is utter madness.

Utter disgrace.

The worst decision re: managerial tenure / appointments that I have witnessed in over 30 years as a soccer fan.

Some people have been undermining MP and calling for him to go for some time. Though they didn't make the decision, I suppose indirectly they are part of this madness too.

Contemptible.

Tim sherwood for assistant manager?

Wee Bloabby (NickB), Wednesday, 20 November 2019 12:05 (six years ago)

I doubt Jose is going to be a fan of Dele

Number None, Wednesday, 20 November 2019 12:20 (six years ago)

Forking over, what, £15m odd per annum for fucking Mou, tied to a 3,5 year contract (as if he'll even get to two years lol). He'll destroy two or three key players and will pull a McTominay w/ using one academy player to counter criticism. Lose out £120 on Eriksen, Alderweireld and Vertongen walking out as free agents. Sign Bale in January - another overpaid sack of dung. And this hellscape is forming nicely.

I don't even have a stake in this except for the lols, but it still feels very much surreal.

Le Bateau Ivre, Wednesday, 20 November 2019 12:20 (six years ago)

*£120m

Le Bateau Ivre, Wednesday, 20 November 2019 12:22 (six years ago)

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy, announcing Mourinho's arrival, said:

"We believe he will bring energy and belief to the dressing room."

Number None, Wednesday, 20 November 2019 12:25 (six years ago)

lol

It looks very much like the players forced him out, which sucks, but part of being a manager is maintaining / building the confidence the squad has in you. I don't think that Mourinho is going to get on better with them but the status quo was unsustainable. It's not just lack of investment. Spurs aren't only getting worse relative to everyone else. Barring a few players, almost the entire team is playing worse this year than they did last year and played worse last year than they did the year before. The regression in Alli, for example, is damning. Poch deserves huge credit for capitalising on their potential, i don't think he can avoid blame for them going backwards.

Srinivasaraghavan VONCataraghavan (ShariVari), Wednesday, 20 November 2019 12:26 (six years ago)

Which dressing room though? (xp)

'Skills' Wallace (Tom D.), Wednesday, 20 November 2019 12:27 (six years ago)

Mourinho ffs

gyac, Wednesday, 20 November 2019 12:36 (six years ago)

xp All true. Which is why Poch should've left last summer, as I've previously said on here. Would've been the best for both parties. For Spurs also because it'd give them time to actually think about a new manager who'd somewhat fit with the squad, playing style, club etc. Ie. anyone except Mourinho.

Le Bateau Ivre, Wednesday, 20 November 2019 12:36 (six years ago)

Le Bateau Ivre, Wednesday, 20 November 2019 13:47 (six years ago)

My suspicion is that Poch took the defeat to Liverpool very badly indeed and said things he shouldn't have - if that's the case then it at least makes sense. What doesn't make sense is concluding that the solution is Mourinho, which would be like pouring oil on the fire at this point.

The squad is considerably better than the one Mourinho had at United, but Poch has also outperformed Mourinho several times over the last few years on lesser resources.

Matt DC, Wednesday, 20 November 2019 14:09 (six years ago)

only way i can make sense of jose is that he, it can be argued, has excelled with senior players who are driven to win

pochettino, who in most other situations id think a better manager, coach, person etc, seemed to stall at spurs once he had to deal with i dont wanna say grown men but say once the majority of players had a few years under their belts and gotten established.

the effect of kyle walker getting his wages doubled to win trophies by working less hard probably started the rot too. did any significant players sign a contract since?
