In all seriousness, there are so many great quotes in that interview that cutting and pasting is pointless.

Favreau has made some highly successful films recently; did you feel an element of pressure working with him?

I do not know what other films he has made.

You don’t?

No.

Josh in Chicago, Tuesday, 12 November 2019 19:57 (six years ago)

Yeah, Herzog strikes me as an abyss-gazer, for sure.

pretty sure underestimating the kardashians is a risk-free proposition, what a silly thing to convince yourself of. "It's important to keep tabs on what regular people are into", says the director of Fata Morgana

to confuse the mundane with the depraved is a common mistake

(I'm mumbling these in a Herzog impersonation voice as I type)

One must unflinchingly look into the dark heart of the culture to comprehend the behavior of the most debased among us.

hits all kinds of genre conventions in a tight 40 minutes, excellent settings and costume work, would watch many more episodes

This was fun!

SQUIRREL MEAT!! (Capitaine Jay Vee), Wednesday, 13 November 2019 00:38 (six years ago)

someone in my group dm made a salient point. herzog's future obits now to read: "star wars actor werner herzog dies age 95"

-_- (jim in vancouver), Wednesday, 13 November 2019 00:40 (six years ago)

Imagine that : a Star Wars tv series that seems more attuned to what made the original films work than the current SW films do.

SQUIRREL MEAT!! (Capitaine Jay Vee), Wednesday, 13 November 2019 00:45 (six years ago)

The blurrg CGI was... not good.

Oh Jesus Christ they're going to sell a zillion dollars in toys of the big reveal.

Greta Van Show Feets BB (milo z), Wednesday, 13 November 2019 02:02 (six years ago)

There were a couple of blurg shots that were off, true.

Getting some _Lone Wolf and Cub_ vibes off that ending.

It is good to know that Salacious Crumbs make excellent BBQ.

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 13 November 2019 04:01 (six years ago)

This was good! Surprisingly good! Some of the animation is a little wobbly and the music is overbearing but otherwise absolutely hitting the last streak of affection i have for this godforsaken universe. Would recommend.

Fuck the NRA (ulysses), Wednesday, 13 November 2019 07:02 (six years ago)

Looked cheap, badly acted, ropey dialogue. Really disappointed.

Tsar Bombadil (James Morrison), Wednesday, 13 November 2019 09:50 (six years ago)

The metal guy in the last sequence was good though (avoiding spoilers)

Tsar Bombadil (James Morrison), Wednesday, 13 November 2019 10:10 (six years ago)

why can't we have like a sitcom or a procedural or an inner city high school drama or really anything set in this universe besides Bounty Hunter Who Is Good At Shooting show

adam, Wednesday, 13 November 2019 12:27 (six years ago)

tbf looks cheap, badly acted, ropey dialogue is pretty much a description of A New Hope

good editing and music, though

mh, Wednesday, 13 November 2019 13:06 (six years ago)

a new hope looks great, wtf

Mandalorian version of Too Old to Die Young I would watch.

I was glad to see a little trash can dude again. The "cheap" look compared to the fancier planets is definitely intentional.

the CGI on the blurg cowboy guy was pretty rough though

if they really want the old look how about some puppets and miniatures

maffew12, Wednesday, 13 November 2019 14:04 (six years ago)

did I say looking cheap is bad? looking cheap is good imo

mh, Wednesday, 13 November 2019 14:45 (six years ago)

let me see here..... it was Tsar

As an adult male, watching a space fantasy on a children's streaming service, I thought this was enjoyable.

brotherlovesdub, Wednesday, 13 November 2019 14:49 (six years ago)

my baseline for evaluating it as a Lucasfilm television project is "is this better than The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles?"

mh, Wednesday, 13 November 2019 14:51 (six years ago)

Tsar Wars. Mostly big in Russia. The twist where it turns out Darth Rasputin had been Tsarevitch Alexeis father all along. Formative.

Frederik B, Wednesday, 13 November 2019 14:52 (six years ago)

going in with low expectations I was able to enjoy this as well.

I'm psyched they let Dave Filoni direct the kickoff to their live action project

Not to call you out in particular, but my optic nerves are fit to snap from all the eye-rolling induced by this arms-length approach to so-called 'children's entertainment' errbody is engaged in of late. As if the bulk of so-called 'adult entertainment' isn't hot + steamy compost. If it isn't promoting hate or something, there's really no need to apologetically qualify one's enjoyment of a cultural object. IMVHO.

Yul, Tied: A Celebration of Brynner in Bondage (Old Lunch), Wednesday, 13 November 2019 15:22 (six years ago)

it does weird me out when 100% of an adult's cultural interests are like, pixar movies and harry potter, though

mh, Wednesday, 13 November 2019 15:46 (six years ago)

throw some star war in there, buddy

mh, Wednesday, 13 November 2019 15:47 (six years ago)

I assume the people you describe must exist but I don't know that I've personally encountered them. Not since like high school, at least.

That'll be Ewan's Obi-Wan show. Wanders Tatooine and helps people out with their personal problems.

Special mention to the scoring in this, the music was excellent throughout, with a lot of departures from what's typically considered "Star Wars music."

Surprised, but not unpleasantly so, by prominent usage of 'Jingle Dogs' on the soundtrack.

Yul, Tied: A Celebration of Brynner in Bondage (Old Lunch), Wednesday, 13 November 2019 16:10 (six years ago)

This was fun! And, let's be honest, I feel like they threw out the "life day" fan service bone in a way that wasn't nearly as cringe-worthy as it easily could have been.

soaring skrrrtpeggios (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Wednesday, 13 November 2019 16:22 (six years ago)

Gotta love a Star Wars show that stuffs in not only all the people we knew about, but Horatio Sanz and Brian Posehn.

And am I crazy or did they actually design that Ugnaught to look like Nick Nolte? OR WAS THAT NOT MAKEUP?

Isn't this the case of 99.9% of fantasy and sci fi (whether TV, film or literature)? Is the next Game of Thrones book going to be a farmer's meditation on the emptiness he feels as his children move away to the city?

It sounds like a '70s sitcom.

Hideous Lump, Monday, 22 September 2025 20:43 (eight months ago)

grogu took down that AT-AT thing hardcore

, Monday, 22 September 2025 20:45 (eight months ago)

that is a dud trailer, expects you to be delighted by baby yoda but that is a very 5 years ago expectation

presumably the actual film will have a plot though

feel like the title font is going for “rollicking retro-tinged adventure” which was what the OG show did best

Cod:Shellfish (emsworth), Monday, 22 September 2025 20:47 (eight months ago)

Yeah this trailer didn’t excite me at all. Very much the goofy Grogu show and not showing me any action set pieces I haven’t seen before. I mean, I’ve seen a lot of AT-AT’s fall down before. Just because this one’s on a cliff doesn’t really juice it up.

sctttnnnt (pgwp), Monday, 22 September 2025 23:38 (eight months ago)

what if... two AT-AT fall off cliff

slowly imploding (mh), Monday, 22 September 2025 23:46 (eight months ago)

What if Grogu meets a baby AT-AT?

Baronet Drowned in Night Frolic (President Keyes), Tuesday, 23 September 2025 02:28 (eight months ago)

ok now we're talking

Cod:Shellfish (emsworth), Tuesday, 23 September 2025 02:29 (eight months ago)

Let me see an AT-AT wobble

Now Tano I can get into

Vinnie, Tuesday, 23 September 2025 10:19 (eight months ago)

Imagine if Grogu uses his force powers to mentally enslave a burly guy, so that they end up like Master-Blaster from Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome, with Grogu riding on his back like a human Tauntaun.

It would be The Adventures of Grogu Adultman. In the final scenes Blaster will sustain a mortal injury, and Grogu will comfort him by brushing him with a brush and saying "you're a good horsey".

And then in the post-credits scene Werner Herzog will do something funny.

Ashley Pomeroy, Wednesday, 24 September 2025 18:09 (eight months ago)

No, post-credits will flash forward 500 years to full-grown Grogu visiting the Mandalorian's grave and then turning on his Sith lightsaber.

Baronet Drowned in Night Frolic (President Keyes), Wednesday, 24 September 2025 18:13 (eight months ago)

I can't convince my wife to watch Andor because I lost all credibility with my early excitement for this show.

Jordan s/t (Jordan), Wednesday, 24 September 2025 18:51 (eight months ago)

i hate these kind of teasers where it’s just production slop stapled together like “heres your thin gruel NERDS”

like i’m not even anticipating this movie & now i’m actively annoyed that it exists

werewolves of laudanum (VegemiteGrrl), Wednesday, 24 September 2025 19:01 (eight months ago)
