I meant like Vegas-style, not Disney style. Or is there a Vegas Star Wars resort opening, too?

Josh in Chicago, Tuesday, 29 October 2019 14:36 (six years ago)

I agree with Moodles that this should ideally be a musical, set in 1920s Chicago, and if possible called Chicago the Musical: a Star Wars Story.

Andrew Farrell, Tuesday, 29 October 2019 14:43 (six years ago)

That's exactly what I was saying

Start the speeder
I know a yubnub spot
Where the milk is blue
Cause Tatooine is hot
Bring a droid, you're a fool
And there's a nightly duel
And all
That
Jizz

xpost Except way, way gayer.

They really just need to keep piling on the gay until the toxic fans all collapse from rage strokes.

You didn't need the xpost there, really.

I realized as soon as I xposted.

I was born with stars in my eyes, watching the skies, asking myself why was I born with these feeeeeeeelings?
Dreams of death stars, outer space wars, battles that would leave you reeeeeeeeeling.
One of these days I will be one of them, one of these days I'll be outgunning them ...
One of these days I'll be outmanning them, every last one-man of them, again and again, you can't force me to stop when the heavens they have no clear ceeeeeeeeiling ....

Do you watch any television?

I do, I watch the news from different sources. Sometimes I see things that are completely against my cultural nature. I was raised with Latin and Ancient Greek and poetry from Greek antiquity, but sometimes, just to see the world I live in, I watch “WrestleMania.”

An unexpected choice.

You have to know what a good amount of the population is watching. Do not underestimate the Kardashians. As vulgar as they may be, it doesn’t matter that much, but you have to find some sort of orientation. As I always say, the poet must not close his eyes, must not avert them.

So you’ve been watching “Keeping Up With the Kardashians?”

I’m starting to discover it. I’m curious; that’s my guiding principal.

-_- (jim in vancouver), Tuesday, 12 November 2019 19:54 (six years ago)

In all seriousness, there are so many great quotes in that interview that cutting and pasting is pointless.

Josh in Chicago, Tuesday, 12 November 2019 19:56 (six years ago)

Favreau has made some highly successful films recently; did you feel an element of pressure working with him?

I do not know what other films he has made.

You don’t?

No.

Josh in Chicago, Tuesday, 12 November 2019 19:57 (six years ago)

Yeah, Herzog strikes me as an abyss-gazer, for sure.

pretty sure underestimating the kardashians is a risk-free proposition, what a silly thing to convince yourself of. "It's important to keep tabs on what regular people are into", says the director of Fata Morgana

Imagine that : a Star Wars tv series that seems more attuned to what made the original films work than the current SW films do.

There were a couple of blurg shots that were off, true.

Getting some _Lone Wolf and Cub_ vibes off that ending.

It is good to know that Salacious Crumbs make excellent BBQ.

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 13 November 2019 04:01 (six years ago)

This was good! Surprisingly good! Some of the animation is a little wobbly and the music is overbearing but otherwise absolutely hitting the last streak of affection i have for this godforsaken universe. Would recommend.

why can't we have like a sitcom or a procedural or an inner city high school drama or really anything set in this universe besides Bounty Hunter Who Is Good At Shooting show

I was glad to see a little trash can dude again. The "cheap" look compared to the fancier planets is definitely intentional.

the CGI on the blurg cowboy guy was pretty rough though

if they really want the old look how about some puppets and miniatures

As an adult male, watching a space fantasy on a children's streaming service, I thought this was enjoyable.

brotherlovesdub, Wednesday, 13 November 2019 14:49 (six years ago)

my baseline for evaluating it as a Lucasfilm television project is "is this better than The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles?"

mh, Wednesday, 13 November 2019 14:51 (six years ago)

Tsar Wars. Mostly big in Russia. The twist where it turns out Darth Rasputin had been Tsarevitch Alexeis father all along. Formative.

Not to call you out in particular, but my optic nerves are fit to snap from all the eye-rolling induced by this arms-length approach to so-called 'children's entertainment' errbody is engaged in of late. As if the bulk of so-called 'adult entertainment' isn't hot + steamy compost. If it isn't promoting hate or something, there's really no need to apologetically qualify one's enjoyment of a cultural object. IMVHO.

Hello I'm shitty gatsworth (aldo), Thursday, 20 April 2023 19:02 (three years ago)

Caught up finally. Would be pretty happy honestly if that was the end of the show, everything feels pretty wrapped up, but I know that Disney probably won't let a massively successful show like this die gracefully. Rumor has it the Rangers of the New Republic stuff will be repurposed here - it looks like they already started with all the Coruscant stuff, Carson Teva, etc.

Really glad terribly-named Nite Owl AXE WOVES didn't die pointlessly as it looked like was gonna happen

And if Gideon survived that shit, or it was a clone, I will be pretty pissed off honestly

epic bacon, the movie?

slowly imploding (mh), Monday, 22 September 2025 13:54 (eight months ago)

So it actually is called The Mandalorian and Grogu? And it's a feature film? On the one hand it's great that they got to the point, but on the other and it's very basic. The trailer has the whiff of AI. It has things happening, but nothing happens.

Imagine if it was called A Star Wars Story: Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu: Episode Four: Grogu and The Mandalorian: The Mandalorian. They could probably extend it so that the title fills the entire opening crawl.

Ashley Pomeroy, Monday, 22 September 2025 18:30 (eight months ago)

THIS

IS

THE

WAY

Baronet Drowned in Night Frolic (President Keyes), Monday, 22 September 2025 18:36 (eight months ago)

following Andor, this just seems insanely goofy

I was joking with a friend this morning that they should just make it as goofy as possible. Grogu gets a girlfriend. She's a reboot of the Gina Carano character from the earlier episodes.

my friend is lobbying for the inclusion of Jar Jar Binks' cousinn Jib Jorp

slowly imploding (mh), Monday, 22 September 2025 18:42 (eight months ago)

recycle all the gags from Gremlins--

Grogu tries to stand on a record player but gets thrown against the wall when it starts revolving

Grogu is visited by ghost Yoda and they dance

Baronet Drowned in Night Frolic (President Keyes), Monday, 22 September 2025 18:52 (eight months ago)

It feels loose for sure but I think I'm fine with that -- like it'll allow for that a bit more than Solo did, not having to backstory it up.

that is a dud trailer, expects you to be delighted by baby yoda but that is a very 5 years ago expectation

presumably the actual film will have a plot though

feel like the title font is going for “rollicking retro-tinged adventure” which was what the OG show did best

Cod:Shellfish (emsworth), Monday, 22 September 2025 20:47 (eight months ago)

Yeah this trailer didn’t excite me at all. Very much the goofy Grogu show and not showing me any action set pieces I haven’t seen before. I mean, I’ve seen a lot of AT-AT’s fall down before. Just because this one’s on a cliff doesn’t really juice it up.

sctttnnnt (pgwp), Monday, 22 September 2025 23:38 (eight months ago)

Vinnie, Tuesday, 23 September 2025 10:14 (eight months ago)

Vinnie, Tuesday, 23 September 2025 10:19 (eight months ago)

Imagine if Grogu uses his force powers to mentally enslave a burly guy, so that they end up like Master-Blaster from Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome, with Grogu riding on his back like a human Tauntaun.

It would be The Adventures of Grogu Adultman. In the final scenes Blaster will sustain a mortal injury, and Grogu will comfort him by brushing him with a brush and saying "you're a good horsey".

And then in the post-credits scene Werner Herzog will do something funny.

Ashley Pomeroy, Wednesday, 24 September 2025 18:09 (eight months ago)

No, post-credits will flash forward 500 years to full-grown Grogu visiting the Mandalorian's grave and then turning on his Sith lightsaber.

Baronet Drowned in Night Frolic (President Keyes), Wednesday, 24 September 2025 18:13 (eight months ago)

I can't convince my wife to watch Andor because I lost all credibility with my early excitement for this show.
