Oh hello there Bay Area, I'm headed your way on x-mas day, staying until I think Jan 1? Got a hotel deal in SoMa but that will just be sleeping place; we'll spend a good chunk of time East Bay scoping out neighborhoods for Becoming Californian in approx 2021.

I have some Oakland/Berkely questions, should I ask them here or in the Oakland thread (which is currently addressing far more significant topics than Becoming Californian)?

let me amend that: almost everyone quoted who failed to even mention prop 13 in passing can fuck right off.

it's amazing to me that as this state has become completely blue that Prop 13 repeal is - still! - never on the table

so much so that people engaged to bloviate about housing seem to forget it even exists! "what's water" etc etc... but it's maddening and kmc has been one of the few clear voices on this over the past 10 years or so. how she found an outlet at techcrunch of all places is also a mystery to me.
