Congratulations Neil!

jou're much too jung, girl (Noodle Vague), Sunday, 14 July 2019 20:23 (six years ago)

Congratulations!

Both Wimbledon going to a deciding t/b (which wasn’t possible before this year) and this going to a super over (which I didn’t even know was a thing) at basically the same time is something I am having trouble conveying the craziness of to my sports-agnostic partner.

Michael Jones, Sunday, 14 July 2019 20:24 (six years ago)

Does anyone know what happened in the cricket? I was watching the Grand Prix.

Good cop, Babcock (Chinaski), Sunday, 14 July 2019 20:30 (six years ago)

Congratulations, Neil. Daughter born at the point of some sort of sports conjuncture.

Fizzles, Sunday, 14 July 2019 20:31 (six years ago)

That was some extraordinary sport. So much to process. I think I agree that they should have shared it.

Good cop, Babcock (Chinaski), Sunday, 14 July 2019 20:36 (six years ago)

I don't even enjoy watching cricket or even care that much for it as a sport, but perversely enjoy listening to it on the radio a hell of a lot. Earlier was a good reminder how exciting and fun it can be as an audio experience. Pisser that England won tho!

Congrats Neil.

calzino, Sunday, 14 July 2019 20:37 (six years ago)

thanks online buddies, it has been a real trip, long may it continue!

Captain ACAB (Neil S), Monday, 15 July 2019 07:52 (six years ago)

'grats, Neil

Yesterday was one-for-the-ages craziness. TB ending about 20 minutes before the cricket.

xyzzzz__, Monday, 15 July 2019 08:01 (six years ago)

btw this would've been shared had it been any other WC. The golden over was only introduced this year.

xyzzzz__, Monday, 15 July 2019 08:03 (six years ago)

The golden over and then decision by number of boundaries is an even less satisfactory way of deciding a title than penalties tbh

jou're much too jung, girl (Noodle Vague), Monday, 15 July 2019 08:35 (six years ago)

The golden over was fine. Boundary count was robbery though

imago, Monday, 15 July 2019 08:44 (six years ago)

Golden over is a terrible way to decide anything lol - why in god's name introduce this when scores are seldom tied in cricket? Capitalism needing winners and losers again is it.

xyzzzz__, Monday, 15 July 2019 08:49 (six years ago)

Congratulations Neil.

Still reeling to be honest and still feel awful for the Kiwis.

Good cop, Babcock (Chinaski), Monday, 15 July 2019 09:09 (six years ago)

yeah

imago, Monday, 15 July 2019 09:15 (six years ago)

Literally robbed

jou're much too jung, girl (Noodle Vague), Monday, 15 July 2019 14:12 (six years ago)

ol' perfidious Albion at it again!

calzino, Monday, 15 July 2019 14:17 (six years ago)

wouldn't go so far as to blame the England team but imagine if NZ had benefited from that situation.

jou're much too jung, girl (Noodle Vague), Monday, 15 July 2019 14:20 (six years ago)

(xp) He would say that, wouldn't he?

Orpheus Knutt (Tom D.), Monday, 15 July 2019 14:23 (six years ago)

Maybe cricket needs to adopt a VAR system to prevent these kinds of mistake

jou're much too jung, girl (Noodle Vague), Monday, 15 July 2019 14:39 (six years ago)

someone once told me W C Fields was a total cheat who would bully umpires. And once he bullied one into letting him play on after getting caught out for a duck, because this crowd is here to appreciate my skills, not yours, you fucking pleb!

calzino, Monday, 15 July 2019 14:45 (six years ago)

Lol W G Grace I meant!

calzino, Monday, 15 July 2019 14:46 (six years ago)

he was bowled and replaced the bails as I heard it

Captain ACAB (Neil S), Monday, 15 July 2019 16:41 (six years ago)

Might have been how I heard it tbh, my memories are sometimes quite jumbled these days but the crux of the story was I think he'd not been batting for long. there is something that makes me chuckle at the schoolboy cap/full beardage w/ owls nest combo of his, one hell of a look.

calzino, Monday, 15 July 2019 18:43 (six years ago)

Congrats Neil!

[goes back to reading overly optimistic thinkpieces about the Australian batting order] hmmm hmmm yes Matty Wade will get called up for The Ashes

Tokyo Ghetto Stüssy (King Boy Pato), Wednesday, 17 July 2019 09:45 (six years ago)

btw the real winners are NZ because they have Jacinta Ardern as their Prime Minister while England has... er...

Tokyo Ghetto Stüssy (King Boy Pato), Wednesday, 17 July 2019 09:47 (six years ago)

thanks man! Looks like Mitch Marsh has been pulling up some trees for the seconds, Aus should definitely get him in the team

Captain ACAB (Neil S), Wednesday, 17 July 2019 21:07 (six years ago)

Ireland already got a wicket! Promising signs.

Tokyo Ghetto Stüssy (King Boy Pato), Wednesday, 24 July 2019 10:23 (six years ago)

the test nation that will remain in Europe is doing well!!

Tokyo Ghetto Stüssy (King Boy Pato), Wednesday, 24 July 2019 10:50 (six years ago)

imago, Wednesday, 24 July 2019 11:08 (six years ago)

dunno if this is a metaphor or something but

Tokyo Ghetto Stüssy (King Boy Pato), Wednesday, 24 July 2019 11:09 (six years ago)

tbf your batsmen didn't do much better yesterday, admittedly against your bowlers

imago, Wednesday, 24 July 2019 11:12 (six years ago)

marcus larberchange got er 40-something

winning a world cup then end up 6/42 to Ireland in less than two weeks is very English cricket

imago, Wednesday, 24 July 2019 11:17 (six years ago)

Tokyo Ghetto Stüssy (King Boy Pato), Wednesday, 24 July 2019 11:45 (six years ago)

New PM, new English cricket hilariousness.

Arthur Lowe & Love (Tom D.), Wednesday, 24 July 2019 11:50 (six years ago)

More portent than metaphor.

Arthur Lowe & Love (Tom D.), Wednesday, 24 July 2019 11:53 (six years ago)

Good time to try 4 day tests. This might not make it to Friday

American Fear of Pranksterism (Ed), Wednesday, 24 July 2019 11:55 (six years ago)

plucky English fighting back against all odds

Captain ACAB (Neil S), Wednesday, 24 July 2019 15:51 (six years ago)

:(

imago, Friday, 26 July 2019 12:46 (six years ago)

The Irish'll need more than a backstop.

Arthur Lowe & Love (Tom D.), Friday, 26 July 2019 12:49 (six years ago)

Boris is going to fuck the Paddies to death! Rah!

imago, Friday, 26 July 2019 12:51 (six years ago)

Gumph!

Arthur Lowe & Love (Tom D.), Friday, 26 July 2019 12:57 (six years ago)

Far more interested in the European Cricket League than The Ashes tbh.

Tokyo Ghetto Stüssy (King Boy Pato), Wednesday, 31 July 2019 12:17 (six years ago)

It’s unorthodox action in cluj every Saturday

American Fear of Pranksterism (Ed), Wednesday, 31 July 2019 12:35 (six years ago)
