who is badass on a friday night two weeks later? the house democrats, that's who

Who is this guy and why is he explicitly singling out a Native American woman of color?

Her name is Congresswoman Davids, not Sharice.

She is a phenomenal new member who flipped a red seat blue.

Pence comes through

CNN is so dishonest. Today we took reporters to a detention facility on the border for families and children and all told us they were being treated well.

— Vice President Mike Pence (@VP) July 13, 2019

JoeStork, Saturday, 13 July 2019 18:42 (six years ago)

iirc when someone says “my captors are treating me well” you’re not supposed to take that at face value

Larry Elleison (rogermexico.), Saturday, 13 July 2019 19:57 (six years ago)

I feel like Pence doing the “who are you gonna believe, me or your own eyes” bit deserves a little more attention than AOC/Pelosi bullshit but oh well.

Also a dude got shot and killed after throwing IEDs at the NW Detention Center in Tacoma this morning.

iirc when a captor says “someone says my captors are treating me well” you’re not supposed to take that at face value

especially when every other reporter says “they said their captors are treating them inhumanely”

quelle sprocket damage (sic), Sunday, 14 July 2019 00:26 (six years ago)

I read that several times and I wonder if one or more of your 'captors' was intended as 'captives'?

A is for (Aimless), Sunday, 14 July 2019 01:52 (six years ago)

no, I don’t think so

quelle sprocket damage (sic), Sunday, 14 July 2019 02:57 (six years ago)

uh, OK

nest some more quotes around the “my captors” bit though

quelle sprocket damage (sic), Sunday, 14 July 2019 04:11 (six years ago)

so then, your intention was to convey:

when a captor (Pence) says, "someone (a captive) says, 'my captors (Border Patrol) are treating me well.'", you’re not supposed to take that at face value.

?

A is for (Aimless), Sunday, 14 July 2019 04:19 (six years ago)

yep!

I was on a bus and missed adding the single quote

quelle sprocket damage (sic), Sunday, 14 July 2019 04:55 (six years ago)

(then on another bus and just paying attention to each captor when reading it back after your explicable confusion)

”So interesting to see ’Progressive’ Democrat Congresswomen, who originally came from countries whose governments are a complete and total catastrophe, the worst, most corrupt and inept anywhere in the world (if they even have a functioning government at all), now loudly and viciously telling the people of the United States, the greatest and most powerful Nation on earth, how our government is to be run,”

(•̪●) (carne asada), Sunday, 14 July 2019 16:25 (six years ago)

“Why don’t they go back and help fix the totally broken and crime infested places from which they came. Then come back and show us how it is done,” he continued. “These places need your help badly, you can’t leave fast enough. I’m sure that Nancy Pelosi would be very happy to quickly work out free travel arrangements!”

There's a subreddit called 'Ask Trump Supporters' where you can interact with some of America's finest. Someone asked 'In a recent tweet, Trump said that progressive congresswomen should go back to the corrupt countries they came from and fix them before trying to reform our government. Do you agree?' Here's a selection of replies:

Do you really take that statement literally? Or do you understand the context and point being made.

[q]What do you think about the tweets?

Love it.

Is this appropriate behavior from the President?

Completely fine by me. Someone needs to put these people in their place.

Is it a racist remark?

To you progressives and liberals? Probably. Do I care? Not one bit.[/q]

“Racism” is a code word for anti-white. Liberals use it relentlessly to silence conservatives and whites. Liberals have even gone so far as to say that racism is “power plus privilege” and thus minorities can not possibly be racist towards whites.

I’ve simply had enough. I won’t apologize for the privileges I’ve had in my life and I don’t feel bad for the failures of others. Im proud of my glorious heritage and no one is going to change that. The age of guilt is over.

I also do not see what is racist about it, he didnt comment about the color of her skin. Is anyone that is a minority shielded from any criticism because of their skin color??

Also, I find it incredibly disrespectful to the country that litterally saved Omars family to suggest that americans are racists bigot etc etc.. Her family owes a gigantic debt to this country and the citizen that opened their arms to her family.

I truly echoe the remarks of Trump and also those remarks coming from Tucker Carlson as well.

On a sidenote, I am quite enjoying this civil war between the unhinged progressives and Pelosi.

etc.

I think you can't understand "a bunch of House Democrats/staffers think AOC is making them look bad and should shut up" without remembering that they have cable news on in their offices 24/7 and are deeply brain poisoned by it

Muswell Hillbilly Elegy (President Keyes), Monday, 15 July 2019 12:55 (six years ago)

Pelosi's comments about how they're "Twitter famous" or whatever still piss me off, as though we don't currently have a president who tweeted his way to the White House

frogbs, Monday, 15 July 2019 13:26 (six years ago)

Meanwhile, Trump's doubling down on the "Radical Left Congresswomen" this morning just reinforces a.) how deliberate a strategy this is and b.) how much the 2020 race is going to be nothing but unvarnished racist/sexist chest thumping, and how ugly it will be. It's gonna make 2016 Trump look tame.

a man often referred to in the news media as the Duke of Saxony (tipsy mothra), Monday, 15 July 2019 13:29 (six years ago)

that's all he has to go with at this point other than the economy being what it is .

(•̪●) (carne asada), Monday, 15 July 2019 13:34 (six years ago)

Yeah, it's how he dominates the cycle. He says something shocking, then what he says becomes news for a couple of days, and all the idiot press keeps hounding people for comment. If someone doesn't comment then it's "omg, Pelosi mum on Trump racism!" And then if you do comment, it's almost pointless, because Trump doesn't give a shit and will just move on to his next mouth fart. The only way to win is to not say anything, which for both the press and politicians is practically impossible. Or change the subject, which takes some savvy that press and politicians often lack. "Yeah, he's racist, but we can talk about that some other time, because thousands of people are being held in cages and health care is once again on the chopping block and no one wants that."

Josh in Chicago, Monday, 15 July 2019 13:35 (six years ago)

"The only way to win"...man, fuck that, this isn't a game for immigrants or kids of immigrants. This is worth fighting independent of the politics "game".

L'assie (Euler), Monday, 15 July 2019 13:46 (six years ago)

Well, yeah. Obviously. But I'd like to know how Trump winning election will help any of those victims of his policies.

Josh in Chicago, Monday, 15 July 2019 14:00 (six years ago)

Building consensus against thinking that citizens should "go back to their own country" is what matters. Electoral politics are a consequence of that consensus, not the goal in themselves.

L'assie (Euler), Monday, 15 July 2019 14:17 (six years ago)

I don't even know what you mean by consensus. He is not a popular president. His policies are not popular. They are not driven by consensus. They are driven exclusively by his power.

Josh in Chicago, Monday, 15 July 2019 14:24 (six years ago)

It's not consensus so much as a redefining of The Center such that now as Americans we define "keeping children well fed and bathed in pens" as the center.
