So, are they going to parade or just be there for the in-crowd to ogle?
Possibly cause less damage if they do remain stationary iof course.

“There must be a million of us,” said Ron Beauchemin, 53, hyperbolizing as he swept his eyes over the crowd streaming through security, and lined up 90 deep at a nearby hot-dog stand.

Mr. Beauchemin and his wife, Crystal, 56, who own a moving business, had come up from Sarasota, Fla., for the weekend, accompanied by Darlene Izzo, a 53-year-old accountant from Sanibel Island, whom they had met at a Trump rally.

“God sent Darlene to me,” Ms. Beauchemin said. The group had chipped in on a $25 Chick-fil-A gift card for Mr. Trump, and planned to deliver it during a White House tour they had booked for Friday. “He likes burgers and fast food,” Mr. Beauchemin said.

“I have three sons in the Marines, and I wanted to bring my grandchildren to the White House,” Ms. Beauchemin said. But she left them at home, afraid of anti-Trump demonstrators “hitting people with crowbars and throwing cement on them,” she said.

hey everyone i heard there's a PARTY AT THE BEAUCHEMINS ON SATURDAY

Seems to me that a $25 gift card is a pretty cheap-ass gift for a billionaire.

Velcromancer (Ye Mad Puffin), Friday, 5 July 2019 15:14 (six years ago)

One of the reasons Florida is less purple is thanks to Midwestern transplants like Darlene who've moved to the Gulf coast with their god and Chik-Fil-A.

My mom sold up her place in Fort Myers Beach because although she votes Republican, she loathed having this type of person for neighbours (the activity room in the condo was full of shit books by authors on wingnut welfare). The last straw for her was watching some 80-year-old snowbird hurl abuse at a Vietnamese nail bar technician administering a pedicure for having the audacity to ask the customer to move her feet just so. My mom believes a lot of Fox News bullshit and definitely says racist things every time I talk to her but she totally called this woman out as a racist in front of the entire salon.

trump on the idea of using an executive order for the census question:

“We’re thinking about doing that. It’s one of the ways — we have four or five ways we can do it,” he said. “We’re thinking of doing it very seriously. We’re doing well on the census.”

i will never make a typo ever again (Karl Malone), Friday, 5 July 2019 15:55 (six years ago)

"look, I'm not a heartless racist conservative, but I don't think we should even think about the conditions illegal immigrants endure during detention when there's so many American citizens who are suffering from homelessness. why should people from another country be given living conditions that are better than those of our own citizens??"

hmmm ok so you think our tax dollars should be redirected towards ending poverty and homelessness?

"lol oh hell no, those lazy fuckers deserve to be poor"

one of Britain's top diplomats, used secret cables and briefing notes to impugn Trump's character, warning London that the White House was 'uniquely dysfunctional' and that the President's career could end in 'disgrace'

As I hear it, the US has a very special, close relationship with Great Britain. And yes, I can see the family resemblance.

A is for (Aimless), Sunday, 7 July 2019 03:52 (six years ago)

Britain's Ambassador to Washington has described Donald Trump as 'inept', 'insecure' and 'incompetent' in a series of explosive memos to Downing Street.

Are there any countries with ambassadors who aren't saying this?

This Epstein case is horrific and the young women deserve justice. It is quite likely that some of our faves are implicated but we must follow the facts and let the chips fall where they may - whether on Republicans or Democrats. #WeSaidEnough #MeToo https://t.co/2mvskwQwW1

In a new book, Trump claims that he foresaw AOC's political rise. Of course it's bullshit from beginning to end. The only interesting things about this story are a) Trump's bottomless thirstiness, and b) that the ads for Evita, inescapable on NY local TV in the late 70s and early 80s, are still stuck in Trump's senile brain 40 years later.

shared unit of analysis (unperson), Sunday, 7 July 2019 15:07 (six years ago)

have to assume Pelosi is talking about Clinton there. Which isn't surprising but is still disappointing and as happy as I am to see this Epstein stuff coming to a head it's also unsettling that some of this is the root of the child trafficking online conspiracy nonsense that wound up involving that Pizza place.

Nance says

“All these people have their public whatever and their Twitter world. But they didn’t have any following. They’re four people and that’s how many votes they got. If the left doesn’t think I’m left enough, so be it. As I say to these people, come to my basement. I have these signs about single-payer from 30 years ago. I understand what they’re saying. But we have a responsibility to get something done, which is different from advocacy. We have to have a solution, not just a Twitter fight.”
