I bought a frozen cappuccino slushy drink at the convenience store today and then poured it into a normal coffee at work

mh, Wednesday, 3 July 2019 00:09 (six years ago)

Another vexing thing about Japanese coffee is a lot of good coffee places don’t open until lunchtime, sometimes even mid afternoon.

does this make sense in local context somehow

but everybody calls me, (lukas), Wednesday, 3 July 2019 00:19 (six years ago)

lil pick-me-up

president of deluded fruitcakes anonymous (silby), Wednesday, 3 July 2019 16:04 (six years ago)

We sell coffee at our shop now. I had been begging the boss to do it for ages.

nathom, Wednesday, 3 July 2019 16:53 (six years ago)

Squeaky Fromage (VegemiteGrrl), Wednesday, 3 July 2019 20:42 (six years ago)

president of deluded fruitcakes anonymous (silby), Wednesday, 3 July 2019 22:02 (six years ago)

i was kind of worried about it at first - i could 'feel my heart' as a muscle sort of - but it's really nice i'm kind of just going to go with it

flappy bird, Wednesday, 3 July 2019 22:19 (six years ago)

two months pass...

i'm looking for a new travel mug and can't find all the attributes i want in one. must be microwaveable, for starters.

forensic plumber (harbl), Saturday, 14 September 2019 14:15 (six years ago)

Probably you want a glass one with a sleeve you can slide off

president of deluded fruitcakes anonymous (silby), Saturday, 14 September 2019 14:27 (six years ago)

wow

Question: How long does coffee stay hot?
Answer: Coffee stays horrible for two maximum

forensic plumber (harbl), Saturday, 14 September 2019 14:38 (six years ago)

Can a straw be used with this cup?
Answer: Thank you for your question.
Of course it is. But you need to pay attention to the diameter of the straw, and the width of the mouth is 0.196inch/5mm.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact us, we are glad to assit you.

forensic plumber (harbl), Saturday, 14 September 2019 14:38 (six years ago)

glass keep cup?

Li'l Brexit (Tracer Hand), Saturday, 14 September 2019 15:55 (six years ago)

are those things actually good? they look kind of bad. i'm suspicious.

forensic plumber (harbl), Saturday, 14 September 2019 16:17 (six years ago)

i like mine. with a rubber grip rather than cork (according to Ed the cork can be hard to clean). you can get a double-walled one.

Li'l Brexit (Tracer Hand), Saturday, 14 September 2019 16:26 (six years ago)

theyre cute

lag∞n, Saturday, 14 September 2019 17:12 (six years ago)

the width of the mouth is 0.196inch/5mm.

that is quite small

fremmes with neppavenettes (rip van wanko), Saturday, 14 September 2019 18:49 (six years ago)

Big fan of my keep cup. If you are looking for an insulated mug that keeps coffee hot for a long time this isn’t it. It’s more of a disposable espresso drinks cup. If I were in a the market for a insulated bu type thing I’d get one of the Chinese/Japanese bottle style ones. Kinto makes a good one, I bought my brother one for Xmas a few years back and he loves one. I was just in a Japanese kitchen things store and the T-Fal ones look great. Good spring loaded flippy lid.

American Fear of Pranksterism (Ed), Sunday, 15 September 2019 04:22 (six years ago)

What is now my daily coffee place in Sapporo does a great drip coffee service. Pick up your own stainless steel Insulated coffee bottle filled with coffee to your liking, (beans of choice, hot, iced, milk sugar, whatever) every morning as you pass by, drop it back on your way home and settle up once a week.

American Fear of Pranksterism (Ed), Sunday, 15 September 2019 04:25 (six years ago)

holy utopia batman

Squeaky Fromage (VegemiteGrrl), Sunday, 15 September 2019 04:35 (six years ago)

I teach early this semester and realized that neither my aeropress nor my pourover thing fit the mouth of my insulated travel mug so I have to make coffee in some other vessel and pour it in which makes me irrationally angry

joygoat, Sunday, 15 September 2019 16:34 (six years ago)

oof that really grinds my beans

provisional ilx (darraghmac), Sunday, 15 September 2019 16:46 (six years ago)

I've had my French press for awhile, it doesn't show how many cups the water level is, but I have a good sense of where to pour it til so that it's strong and that I'm not using too many beans.

Piano Mouth, Sunday, 15 September 2019 17:03 (six years ago)

that's a good place to be

Li'l Brexit (Tracer Hand), Sunday, 15 September 2019 17:47 (six years ago)

three months pass...

My God! I made my bustelo a bit strong today - acrid

| (Latham Green), Tuesday, 14 January 2020 17:52 (six years ago)

I spaced out and poured tepid water into my Aeropress this morning; thereby ruining 21 grams of my current favorite beans (Counter Culture's "Big Trouble" blend) that I just spent 2 minutes hand-grinding. I wanted to weep. Life is brutal.

beard papa, Tuesday, 14 January 2020 22:50 (six years ago)

I've done the same. The "must have coffee to remember how to make coffee" dilemma is something we all fall to

babu frik fan account (mh), Tuesday, 14 January 2020 23:04 (six years ago)

bp soothe yourself by buyin an electric burr grinder imo.

Swilling Ambergris, Esq. (silby), Tuesday, 14 January 2020 23:17 (six years ago)

I have done that in my aeropress before but I have low standards so I just press out the tepid water out and use the same grounds and do it again.

Yerac, Tuesday, 14 January 2020 23:18 (six years ago)

I also don't understand this 'measuring' coffee grounds concept.

Yerac, Tuesday, 14 January 2020 23:19 (six years ago)

I recently came back to the coffeepot realizing it be clear water in the beaker - not having ppoured water into the correct spot on top

| (Latham Green), Wednesday, 15 January 2020 20:43 (six years ago)

I sustained an actual bodily injury this morning (sliced pinky) opening a ring-pull tin of ground roast.

― Yerac

do you mean with a scale, or do you just pour grounds into your vessel of choice without any measurement?

I don't think I could do that latter. And haven't yet bothered getting a scale, but then if you weigh the coffee you may as well weigh the water and then it just starts getting a bit too much minutae.

medicate for all (outdoor_miner), Wednesday, 15 January 2020 23:42 (six years ago)

it takes like one second!

lag∞n, Wednesday, 15 January 2020 23:46 (six years ago)

fair enough. i thought i would've gotten a scale by now to do all that. but it's winter and want the cof asap in the morning so i just keep making turkish coffee with cardamom in the morning. that is literally <2 minutes from start to finish

medicate for all (outdoor_miner), Wednesday, 15 January 2020 23:55 (six years ago)

sorry second (superfluous) "in the morning"

medicate for all (outdoor_miner), Wednesday, 15 January 2020 23:56 (six years ago)

I don't measure, just use a scoop and eyeball the amount to generally correlate with the amount of water I use

Dan S, Wednesday, 15 January 2020 23:57 (six years ago)

post, yeah I don't measure coffee. I just kind of eyeball it. I try not to make it for anyone else or even myself if I can get away with it.

Yerac, Wednesday, 15 January 2020 23:57 (six years ago)

I think somewhere above or another another thread I was complaining about a previous roommate throwing out hot water in a kettle, after I just made myself coffee, every single time because they needed the water to be the perfect temp and needed to start the boiling from scratch. I always had to walk away. I already have my subjects I am very uptight about and coffee is not one of them.

Yerac, Thursday, 16 January 2020 00:01 (six years ago)

scoop and "close enough" temperature is fine, pre-ground is fine, the planet is dying for gods sake

Banáná hÉireann (darraghmac), Thursday, 16 January 2020 00:03 (six years ago)

yes x2

Dan S, Thursday, 16 January 2020 00:05 (six years ago)

I always scoop in a little bit more when I have guests because most of my friends like really strong coffee

Dan S, Thursday, 16 January 2020 00:05 (six years ago)

Planet is dying so I take pleasure in the things I can such as makin coffee like I’m a damn scientist

Swilling Ambergris, Esq. (silby), Thursday, 16 January 2020 01:01 (six years ago)

not saying u have to measure i actually do not even possess a scale rn but i have measured in the past and tuning yr recipe can make u a nice cup of coffee if u like such things, and its not much effort
