Meanwhile pls excuse stroughton smith tweet but MOUSE ON IPAD
Hello mouse support on iOS 13! It’s an AssistiveTouch feature, and works with USB mice. @viticci nailed this pic.twitter.com/nj6xGAKSg0— Steve Troughton-Smith (@stroughtonsmith) June 3, 2019

I’m getting this now I think; it’s really nice. Like having bindings back again, for one thing.

hockey puck mouse too
― dan selzer, Friday, 28 June 2019 00:02 (six years ago)
I actually liked the hockey puck a lot, once they added the dimple. I don’t think they’ve made a decent mouse since, come to think of it.
― stet, Friday, 28 June 2019 00:05 (six years ago)
Hockey puck was very cool

we had a laptop in flames on our floor, one of the bad batch that they are recalling.
(it's a big floor, probably two hundred macbooks in total.)
― koogs, Saturday, 13 July 2019 20:24 (six years ago)
I may have to buy that rumored 16” MacBook if it’s not too insane $$$
― calstars, Saturday, 13 July 2019 20:54 (six years ago)
I had my battery and lower case replaced for free because of the battery issue
― EZ Snappin, Saturday, 13 July 2019 21:13 (six years ago)
Unfortunately the IT supplier that we use seems to have a different set of priorities and hasn't sorted out a returns policy as yet. People who have affected laptops, according to the serial number checker, have reported it but have been told to keep using the laptop until arrangements have been made.
― koogs, Sunday, 14 July 2019 06:19 (six years ago)
I had a 17" macbook pro (last model made) that spit out a puff of flame from its FW port one day. Apple called me and asked if I was injured (presumably to head off a lawsuit). I wasn't, but every last part of that laptop was eventually replaced.

― самокритика me, daddy (||||||||), Saturday, 31 August 2019 17:04 (six years ago)
amen
I still see the iPhone 4 IRL. we socialists are too poor for the fancy new tech. though the iPhone X is almost two years old now.
everybody has AirPods now though

They tend to be a bit fatter than the real thing. But I have to say my main evidence is just "there's no way all these people can afford £150 headphones"

― stet, Tuesday, 10 September 2019 17:44 (six years ago)
"I haven't yet seen an iPhone X or anything more recent IRL."
really? maybe because I live in SF but the X is ubiquitous as are the other ones.
― akm, Tuesday, 10 September 2019 18:53 (six years ago)
another year where no phones I can comfortably use get announced, I should put a new battery in my SE sometime soon
― president of deluded fruitcakes anonymous (silby), Tuesday, 10 September 2019 19:33 (six years ago)
Trying to decide whether to trade in my too-large XS Max for an 11 Pro, or just to use my old SE that I bought for my son.
― DJI, Tuesday, 10 September 2019 20:59 (six years ago)
what do you mean 'comfortably use'?
― akm, Tuesday, 10 September 2019 21:01 (six years ago)
DJI that’s my plan
― calstars, Tuesday, 10 September 2019 21:07 (six years ago)
always-on screen is nice but multiple-day battery life would be nicer

akm I got an iPhone 6 on release and it gave me RSI in my thumb tendons, when I have been touch typing for decades with no ill-effects. Permanent veto for larger phones.
― president of deluded fruitcakes anonymous (silby), Tuesday, 10 September 2019 21:21 (six years ago)
I'm trying to think of a reason i shouldn't just pay £100 for new screen and battery on my SE and i can't think of a single one apart from the shitty front-facing camera

― Li'l Brexit (Tracer Hand), Thursday, 12 September 2019 11:04 (six years ago)
It’s going to be iPhone 8-sized though? Too big imo. SE-sized but with edge-to-edge screen is what’s wanted.
― stet, Thursday, 12 September 2019 11:58 (six years ago)
Calling bs on that report. They’re still selling the 8, which is 4.7 “
