Will that guy on Jeopardy ever lose?

saw one show with him, didn't even realize it until the end -- he was actually down a fair bit after the first round. tbh he seemed considerably less smug/annoying than i'd have expected of a professional gambler kicking everyone's asses

He seems like a decent enough guy and all but I stopped watching a few weeks ago because it just felt kind of boring - which seems kind of fickle on my part but still.

he comes off as extremely sweet and endearingly awkward, don’t really see smugness at all

so tonight: exactly one wrong response all night between the three contestants. 59/60 correct responses during regular play, plus 3/3 correct responses in final jeop. two of the three daily doubles were successful true daily doubles. is that as close as jeopardy has ever come to a perfect game?

(xp) i'm with you on sweetness, awkwardness and, above all, normal dudeness. but i do think a tiny bit of smugness crept in over the last 10 or so games. and it didn't bother me at all.

i was bummed when dude lost... but it's pretty cool that Emma has three wins in a row since beating him, hope she can run off a nice streak as well.

loved how he gave her a big high five after she nailed the final jeopardy. his 'smugness' was always endearing.

Netflix has just the season openers of each year in a set. It's a trip watching Alex, the sets, and people's hair/fashion rapidly change upon binge watching.

There's a few random episodes of the 70s version on YouTube. Man, the questions, er I mean answers were a lot harder then!

Ken Jennings is interviewed on Andy Richter's podcast and seems like a cool guy.

yeah, he was pretty emotional the whole time. i'm glad he's kicking ass cause i was worried holhauzer would steamroll through, but the first night was fairly dramatic.

Brad constantly throwing himself on grenades probably helped. James can't steamroll if he doesn't hit the Daily Doubles

who won the second match? i only caught the first. jennings getting the stupid "before and after" daily double right was clearly the turning point though it was pretty dramatic that brad made it to exactly half ken's "points" for final jeopardy

James won the second game but not by enough to overtake the lead

both the before/during/after & triple rhyme time categories demonstrated just how much good these guys are, even the easy ones would've taken me more time to figure out than you get on the show. and they got them in like half a second

James can't steamroll if he doesn't hit the Daily Doubles

yeah, a huge part of james' strategy was hitting as many daily doubles as possible, which is easy to do when you control the board for nearly the entire game, which he tended to do for most of his run. you can't do that against these guys, obviously.

brad also lucked into daily doubles very early on in both games
