lol didn't have a campaign pause for Jo Cox either really as the leave campaign didn't respect it

Bash Street Kids: Endgame (Bananaman Begins), Thursday, 30 May 2019 19:29 (seven years ago)

So for the cucks who ran the remain campaign it's like: 'oh, a prominent remain supporter has been murdered by a fascist... let us immediately cease campaigning for a spell and leave the field clear for the people who are privately pleased by her murder'

Bash Street Kids: Endgame (Bananaman Begins), Thursday, 30 May 2019 19:33 (seven years ago)

Or the majority of remain campaigners were upset and horrified by the brutal murder of one of their colleagues?

Anyway, sorry but John McDonnell is bad now.

My mum worked for 30 years on the biscuit counter at BHS. She will be spinning in her grave. I can’t believe that Rich Tea and Jammy Dodgers didn’t come top. Moral of this story: never trust opinion polls

it's rough when you get old and have vivid memories of things that most young ppl are completely incredulous about. I'm an old bastard and have never seen a fucking biscuit counter in my life - but know many ppl (including my partner) who have done stints at Foxes Biscuits and they might have done some biscuit counting :p

calzino, Thursday, 30 May 2019 22:07 (seven years ago)

Rich Tea?

The biscuit everyone puts up with if there's nothing else?

Alastair Campbell has alleged the Labour party was discriminatory when expelling him for voting for the Liberal Democrats, given the number of other members who have not faced similar action despite publicly admitting they voted for another party.

Campbell, Tony Blair’s former spin doctor, has lodged an appeal against the expulsion, which came within 48 hours of him saying he had voted for the Lib Dems in the European parliamentary elections last week.

“I am told by my friends in the Labour party that they have been inundated with people resigning,” Campbell told BBC Radio 4’s Today programme on Friday. “Are they too going to be expelled within 48 hours of saying so?”

He said his lawyer had advised him to include a point about discrimination in his formal appeal.

“Is Cherie Blair going to be expelled? Is Bob Ainsworth going to be expelled? Is Charles Clarke going to be expelled?” Campbell asked, listing other Labour members who had spoken of voting elsewhere in the European elections.

god let's fuckin hope so

Can't expel them fast enough.

Like just join the lib dems

I wish Labour’s soft Brexit punt had worked, and unified Leavers and Remainers so the left could focus on fixing our broken economy.

But it hasn’t. Brexit is polarised between No Deal/Remain, and now the compromise position is a second referendum. Corbyn should campaign for one. https://t.co/oEZikgM1Ta

— Ash Sarkar (@AyoCaesar) May 31, 2019

Sarkar and Owen Jones are jumping the gun on this.

xyzzzz__, Friday, 31 May 2019 08:29 (seven years ago)

And it's only going to get worse. From the tweets I have seen Brexit Party will win in Peterborough next week.

xyzzzz__, Friday, 31 May 2019 08:31 (seven years ago)

With Peterborough only a week ago, can see Sakar and Jones are jumping the gun - but then the question becomes "when would it not be jumping the gun?"

or, maybe, "is there no gun to jump?'

||||||||, Friday, 31 May 2019 08:39 (seven years ago)

can see the LDs jumping into bed with the tories again, tories then argue sacrificing no deal is the price of giving the country a stable government and now is the time to bring the country together in the national interest. going to be extremely edifying watching the whole swathe of sensible commentariat applaud this pivot to soft brexit as grown up statesmanlike leadership

||||||||, Friday, 31 May 2019 08:43 (seven years ago)

I mean, if they can post things like this now with a straight face...

My position is I voted remain but I lost. I would like a compromise deal to leave on the softest possible terms, preserving as much as we can of the value of membership while also leaving. There is no party remotely close to this view.

idiots like him have cynically muddied the waters on labour policy for the past three years. coupled with the hard remain wing of the party signal boosting this performative confusion at all turns - this has led to the collapse of the centre on brexit that matt DC was talking about above. worryingly, however, the aggro remainers’ leaning into the culture war has polarised the debate so much that any second ref looks increasingly likely that it will be fought between no deal and no brexit.

considering that (1) the underlying causes which led to the brexit vote in the first place have not been addressed and (2) there’s nothing in the past however many years that suggests the sensible establishment centre are well equipped to fight a culture war against the faragist right... well, may god have mercy on our souls.

xyzzzz__, Friday, 31 May 2019 10:28 (seven years ago)

I mean, you're the one who wants a Labour government and Corbyn as the leader - both at the same time is fairly unlikely.

Andrew Farrell, Friday, 31 May 2019 11:40 (seven years ago)

because of the latest YouGov poll?

calzino, Friday, 31 May 2019 11:42 (seven years ago)

there is a round up of latest polls on this page and the YouGov one with crazy LibDem surge is an outlier, although some of them are a couple of weeks older which is a long time in ..etc..

I'd expect a good chunk of Lab people to go Lib dem as I expect Tories to go to the Brexit party (or Lib dem if they are Tory Remainers). Nobody knows what the end of game of all this will be.

I don't see what potential electoral outcomes have to do with me saying how utterly inept it is to be 'fine' with a no deal Vs no Brexit vote.

Rory Stewart has outlined plans to play for Liverpool as a late first half substitution tomorrow night, and again for Spurs in the second half, as part of a new grassroots campaign. There are plans to livestream both substitutions, and if things go well, a free kick. In the spirit of spontaneity, Stewart has not yet revealed which corner he will be scoring in, or for which team.
