Corbz has become a septuagenarian today, so obv he is too old. Even though he will probably end up outliving Wes Streeting.

lol?

Has Tom Watson got ANY ideas of his own? Or does Alastair Campbell write all his articles? pic.twitter.com/9exV1nqAo7

lol! after all the hubris of "new way of doing politics" the whole shebang turns out to be a discarded week old sandwich next to a moldering white dog shit.

calzino, Sunday, 26 May 2019 20:14 (seven years ago)

so there weren't any exit polls or am I missing something?

seandalai, Sunday, 26 May 2019 20:30 (seven years ago)

Gosh Tory source saying looks like party about to lose all MEPs apart from maybe one in south east tonight in #EuropeanElection2019 . Almost total wipe out. 😼

soft brexit 23/5

FFS etc

The Blairites can be relied on to take a point in time where the Tories are about to inflict great self harm and then inflict it on the Labour Party instead. Almost as if they'd rather the Tories stay in power https://t.co/Me40pnRm43

Extremely amused at the eat the book cunt getting owned

Salvini polled 6% in 2014 - just six per cent.
He is about to poll above 25%.

If you only look at recent snapshot polls and not the longer-term trends that are rumbling through Europe then you miss the real story. https://t.co/RBsjiauppe

The BBC has forecast that the Brexit Party will top the polls, with the pro-EU Liberal Democrats set to come second and the ruling Conservative party set to receive between 10 and 12% of the vote, down from 24% in 2014.

sure fine whatever

NEW: Following Tom Watson / People's Vote collusion earlier, Remain supporting Labour source says there will now be a fresh move by MPs against Corbyn

Says the focus will be on changing Labour policy to support a second ref, challenging Corbyn's leadership if he refuses

xp Wes Streeting has been very restless recently

tbh a lot of Labour decrease will be remain voters making a point by voting LD/Green? And with a Tory headbanger incoming they’d probably want to move on it, but idk I’m not an electoral genius or w/e.

gyac, Sunday, 26 May 2019 21:50 (seven years ago)

FBPErs gonna be extra insufferable tomorrow.

xyzzzz__, Sunday, 26 May 2019 21:54 (seven years ago)

Don’t know why they should be, the vote splitting cost them at least two seats that I saw so far.

gyac, Sunday, 26 May 2019 21:58 (seven years ago)

Re that North East result:

North East result: 2 Brexit 1 Lab. Fiona short by 15,000 - Change UK got 25,000. A pity that they have prevented a Remain MEP being elected. Lib Dem share rose from 6% to 17% - would have been enough to win a seat in other regions

— North East Lib Dems đŸ”¶ (@NELibDems) May 26, 2019

gyac, Sunday, 26 May 2019 21:59 (seven years ago)

I know that Goodwin tweet is funny but actually apart from Salvini he seems wrong on trends -- Le Pen and Wildeers are down. AfD about the same. Like this is not quite pointing at populists or what have you.

Brexit party are a bit of an outlier -- the elections here have a totally different feel.

xyzzzz__, Sunday, 26 May 2019 22:02 (seven years ago)

gyac, Sunday, 26 May 2019 22:05 (seven years ago)

FPBEs are always insufferable, but particularly when crowing about Islington results.

suzy, Sunday, 26 May 2019 22:05 (seven years ago)

As pointed out elsewhere on twitter, Islington south was a Lib Dem marginal when Thornberry first won it.

Absolutely tragic that this Conservative MEP trooper won’t be returning to Brussels:

Members of European Parliament in Strasbourg reacted with rage after Syed Kamall, the leader of the European Conservatives and Reformists (ECR), said Nazis subscribed to a “left-wing ideology” and “want the same things” as Socialists do.

Kamall, the voice of the U.K. Conservative Party in the Parliament, was responding to an earlier speech by German MEP Udo Bullmann, the leader of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats, during which he said that “right-wing nationalism and extremists” are “undermining the European Union.”

In reply, Kamall told Bullmann: “When you talk about right-wing extremists, we have to remember that Nazis were national socialists. It’s a strain of socialism.”

He then added: “It’s a left-wing ideology, they want the same things as you, let’s be quite clear.” When the chamber erupted in outrage, with some MEPs shouting out “rubbish,” Kamall said: “You don’t like the truth, do you?”

gyac, Sunday, 26 May 2019 22:09 (seven years ago)

Totally confident it will be fine for Labour:

We’re witnessing a nightmare future for the Labour Party. Its metropolitan Hampstead voters have fled to the Liberal Democrats; the provincial Humberside heartlands to the Brexit party. The fence Jeremy Corbyn has been sitting on has been taken away. #EuropeanElectionResults

Batshit Batten's unseated.

nashwan, Sunday, 26 May 2019 22:41 (seven years ago)

Yorkshire & the Humber get 6 MEPs and the 6th one is @MagicMagid for the Greens, so that (and the Batten result) is some good news which might mean it's a good time to go to bed...

a passing spacecadet, Sunday, 26 May 2019 22:54 (seven years ago)

Daniel Hannan out?

gyac, Sunday, 26 May 2019 23:01 (seven years ago)

The Lib Dem results are arguably good for the main parties - because they act as a reminder that this is a single-issue election, and we should no more fear rule by the Brexit Party than we should fear rule by the Lib Dems.

Andrew Farrell, Sunday, 26 May 2019 23:01 (seven years ago)

btw this is from over an hour ago on the Graun liveblog but I felt the need to paste it here

an election agent ... found one ballot which had ‘wank’ written in every single box apart from that of the Green party. The voter left a note saying ‘not wank’ for the environmentalist party which was deemed acceptable as a vote.

a passing spacecadet, Sunday, 26 May 2019 23:03 (seven years ago)

Claire Fox MEP. The most depressing aspect of this election.

Ned Caligari (Tom D.), Sunday, 26 May 2019 23:34 (seven years ago)

Apart from namby pamby Remoaners voting for a pro-austerity party.

Soubz is a mess. First talking usual bollox about CuKs lack of party tribalism and new way of doing politics etc, then angrily dismissing Heidi Allen's LibDem pact/tactical voting talk as "bizarre". It sounds like they might even split into two more parties before next GE.

calzino, Monday, 27 May 2019 06:07 (seven years ago)

is it bad? I can't even really tell - has that feeling of people seeing what they want to see

that Brexit party logo is good - massive improvement on ukip branding

anvil, Monday, 27 May 2019 06:13 (seven years ago)

it does sound like Corbyn is going to be put under increasing 2nd ref pressure. And Farage says He's Ready.

calzino, Monday, 27 May 2019 06:33 (seven years ago)

I’m VERY curious to know which agency did the Brexit Party PPB and branding, and who paid for it.

If Seumas (still daily calls up his best pal/guru Galloway .. or Chief is it?) then he has only one degree of separation between himself and Farage and fucking Bannon. Just saying!

calzino, Monday, 27 May 2019 06:55 (seven years ago)

They’re all projecting based on Campbell’s role back when, yes?

suzy, Monday, 27 May 2019 06:55 (seven years ago)

that’s as may be. labour’s policy is formed democratically by conference though - not by the whims of the corbyn whisperer. this idea that policy is being held hostage by “lexit cranks” is conspiracist nonsense
