¯\_(ツ)_/¯

gyac, Saturday, 25 May 2019 14:39 (seven years ago)

Josie Long did a good appreciation of Hedges where she talked about the feeling of seeing the stupidest tweet, noticing one person you follow liked it, and how it's always Hedges. I admire the determination to keep in character.

Daniel_Rf, Saturday, 25 May 2019 14:39 (seven years ago)

Yeah Hedges isn't often that funny in his tweets (again that tweet wasn't meant to be funny, only became so because Stewart retweeted - it's what happens when someone who doesn't know about online wants to now navigate and use it cynically for his own ends) but it's his likes and actually if you look at his follow list it's a fucking hilarious collection of people/orgs.

xyzzzz__, Saturday, 25 May 2019 14:46 (seven years ago)

I saw someone was doing T-shirts of the classic Hedges follow, and I have to admire that sort of incredibly niche targeting

gyac, Saturday, 25 May 2019 14:48 (seven years ago)

Yes and to add to what comrade alphabet says, there’s a lot of effort gone into to interacting with the kind of accounts and brands etc that he would like if he was real. He got blocked by Hugo Rifkind by tagging him into some banal beer banter, and that was funnier than the actual tweet about him.

gyac, Saturday, 25 May 2019 14:50 (seven years ago)

not being funny is my comedy - so he often makes me laugh.

calzino, Saturday, 25 May 2019 14:51 (seven years ago)

Funnier than Josie Long, but who isn't?

Ned Caligari (Tom D.), Saturday, 25 May 2019 14:51 (seven years ago)

Well I hope this has been educational for Andrew. A lot to take in here.

xyzzzz__, Saturday, 25 May 2019 14:58 (seven years ago)

Hedges is funny

shhh / let peaceful like things (wins), Saturday, 25 May 2019 15:16 (seven years ago)

It’s straightforward parody, very well done, of a quite specific type of poster

shhh / let peaceful like things (wins), Saturday, 25 May 2019 15:17 (seven years ago)

it's what happens when someone who doesn't know about online wants to now navigate and use it cynically for his own ends

Wait hold on, it's not Rory Stewart that's being cynical in this exchange!

Andrew Farrell, Saturday, 25 May 2019 16:38 (seven years ago)

What planet do you live on

xyzzzz__, Saturday, 25 May 2019 16:39 (seven years ago)

Rory Stewart doesn't know the meaning of the word.

Ned Caligari (Tom D.), Saturday, 25 May 2019 16:40 (seven years ago)

Come on he knows his way around Latin!

xyzzzz__, Saturday, 25 May 2019 16:42 (seven years ago)

Cynicism is an infinitely more accurate description of careerist bellends like Stewart than an open-hearted liberal like Hedges who merely wants to add to the gaiety of the internet

how many times have i read this exact same article? it's unreal!!

Lil' Brexit (Tracer Hand), Saturday, 25 May 2019 22:20 (seven years ago)

One member I met in Bristol broke down in tears as he told me that after 44 years of voting Labour he was going to vote Lib Dem for the first time.

You voted for Blair and Brown, voting Lib Dem must've been a doddle

specific goats my way (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 25 May 2019 23:03 (seven years ago)

Observer editors just mad they couldn't do it as a main headline because the government is on the brink. xp lol

When do the EU election results come out tomorrow?

suzy, Saturday, 25 May 2019 23:06 (seven years ago)

I've been wondering that. On Friday morning I checked various news sites and you'd think there hasn't been an election there was literally nothing about it. I know turn out was low, I voted at about 9pm and I was the only name crossed out on my street

Colonel Poo, Saturday, 25 May 2019 23:09 (seven years ago)

Tomorrow night.

Ned Caligari (Tom D.), Saturday, 25 May 2019 23:47 (seven years ago)

that is why there was no exit poll on friday, we have to wait for Farage siegesparade after they've finished voting and counting in the EU.

calzino, Sunday, 26 May 2019 06:00 (seven years ago)

uk press has explicitly stated in places that legally ye can't have coverage until sunday night when polls close in idk latvia or whatever.

which is incorrect-theres only aiui a ban on reporting results not eg exit polls- but if thats what they have agreed with ur govt then thats what theyve agreed i guess

daenerys baker (darraghmac), Sunday, 26 May 2019 09:00 (seven years ago)

UK govt in uncontested agreement with EU shocker.

calzino, Sunday, 26 May 2019 09:21 (seven years ago)

wouldn't there be a risk that reports that UK main parties having their arse handed to them by Farage in the exit polls could be useful hoopla for EU fash-bloc, in countries where they are still voting?

calzino, Sunday, 26 May 2019 09:28 (seven years ago)

if thats the angle then thats the angle, all i know is ive seen it written in uk press that they cant legally publish info or reportage until day x which isnt true

daenerys baker (darraghmac), Sunday, 26 May 2019 09:43 (seven years ago)

do we reckon there’s another labour leadership challenge incoming this summer ?

||||||||, Sunday, 26 May 2019 14:45 (seven years ago)

specific goats my way (Noodle Vague), Sunday, 26 May 2019 14:47 (seven years ago)

Corbz has become a septuagenarian today, so obv he is too old. Even though he will probably end up outliving Wes Streeting.

calzino, Sunday, 26 May 2019 14:51 (seven years ago)

lol?

calzino, Sunday, 26 May 2019 20:14 (seven years ago)

so there weren't any exit polls or am I missing something?

seandalai, Sunday, 26 May 2019 20:30 (seven years ago)

Gosh Tory source saying looks like party about to lose all MEPs apart from maybe one in south east tonight in #EuropeanElection2019 . Almost total wipe out. 😮

hard brexit 25
soft brexit 23/5
remain 23/5

daenerys baker (darraghmac), Sunday, 26 May 2019 20:51 (seven years ago)

FFS etc

The Blairites can be relied on to take a point in time where the Tories are about to inflict great self harm and then inflict it on the Labour Party instead. Almost as if they'd rather the Tories stay in power https://t.co/Me40pnRm43

Extremely amused at the eat the book cunt getting owned

Salvini polled 6% in 2014 - just six per cent.
He is about to poll above 25%.

If you only look at recent snapshot polls and not the longer-term trends that are rumbling through Europe then you miss the real story. https://t.co/RBsjiauppe

The BBC has forecast that the Brexit Party will top the polls, with the pro-EU Liberal Democrats set to come second and the ruling Conservative party set to receive between 10 and 12% of the vote, down from 24% in 2014.

xp Wes Streeting has been very restless recently

tbh a lot of Labour decrease will be remain voters making a point by voting LD/Green? And with a Tory headbanger incoming they’d probably want to move on it, but idk I’m not an electoral genius or w/e.

gyac, Sunday, 26 May 2019 21:50 (seven years ago)
