Has Keanu played a light-hearted or goofy (or even expressive) character in the last two decades? the Wicks are the only things I've seen since the first Matrix on VHS, but I get the impression that he's pretty much all stonefaced all the time. RIP Parenthood Keanu.

Destination Wedding, a two-hander with Winona Ryder (no other character gets even a single line of dialogue, IIRC), was surprisingly funny.

Destination Wedding was weird. I remember laughing really hard one time but otherwise it was about two very attractive, miserable people that seem to give up on life and decide to be together.

It was a weird one for sure, ultra minimalist romcom. Not that memorable tbh

Maybe him screaming during the sex scene was what I thought was funny. I can't remember.

He must have a good netflix deal. He appears super briefly in a bunch of their movies now. Like SPF-18 (the one where the teens are housesitting for him and he appears right at the end).

Destination Wedding was bearable bc of the chemistry btw Keanu & Winona , but the script itself was pretty dire.

Part of them reviving the romcom is feeling the necessity to do it in the most rote, by the numbers fashion possible so everyone recognizes what they're doing (and they can crank em out as fast as possible)

A lot of people seem unaware of this but aside from the KID profiles, Netflix also has parental controls. You can set shows above a certain rating to be accessible only with a PIN.

Lol. That Keanu scene in the preview was filmed in my place of work. They shot it late at night/early morning so I never saw him but the security guards said he was super friendly.

MPAA ratings allow a movie to be shown in a big chain/“normal” theater which is important when ur trying to get nominated for AWARDZ

OK, I missed that. But the idea that more than 5-6 of the many movies they produce annually will ever be submitted for serious awards consideration is wrong.

I used to work somewhere (mid 2000s?) that had a lot of celebs regularly wandering around. Keanu was the only one where people dropped what they were doing and ran out trying to get a glimpse.

Oddly enough Vanessa Paradis was the only one that I ever saw that had photogs surrounding her.

He filmed a particularly dumb movie on my college campus in the '90s, at just about peak Keanu, and so many people were jockeying for assistant/coffee type positions on the production to be around him.

Heard a story from a friend who canvassed/fundraised for Obama and ended up at Keanu's house, and apparently K invited him in and was extremely nice.

He was charming in a supporting role in Something's Gotta Give, and the movie is so chickenshit about EWWW GRANNIES HAVING SEX that Nancy Meyers couldn't conceive of a scenario where Diane Keaton and Keanu end up married fucking the shit out of each other.

Keanu is awesome for keeping himself out of the spotlight so well. I don't know much about him or his private life, but he does seem to be massively generous. I remember hearing the stories of him gifting the Matrix FX team millions of dollars, among other things, and thinking: this is a good guy. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if he got John Wick 1 made as a favor to his Matrix friends. Wasn't the director his stunt double?

Basically, Keanu seems like Tom Cruise if Tom Cruise were not a weirdo trying to lure people into Scientology. Unless Keanu is a total weirdo, too, but is keeping it quiet.

i saw keanu in the lobby of a staging of Robert Wilson's Tom Waits/WSB musical The Black Rider in SF about 16 years ago and the excitement among others who also saw him was palpable. He was just standing around by himself looking like a dude.

I haven't seen it but he apparently did 13 episodes of detective comedy Swedish Dicks, basically as a favour for Peter Stormare.

And it's divisive but I loved his deadpan, depressive Constantine. Plus goofy voice-over work as Keanu the cat, the upcoming Toy Story 4, etc.

I love Constantine.

JW3 - easily the most violent movie I've ever seen, and the gunshots and explosions were so loud in my super-Dolby theater I felt like I should have worn earplugs.
