is change UK banksy

||||||||, Wednesday, 15 May 2019 09:19 (seven years ago)

Should have stood as a ChangeSco candidate.

Ned Caligari (Tom D.), Wednesday, 15 May 2019 09:20 (seven years ago)

My word. Change UK’s number one Euro candidate in Scotland, David MacDonald, has quit to back the Lib Dems. Chuka Umunna: “It is obviously disappointing that this candidate has chosen to pledge allegiance to another party - he has let down his fellow candidates and activists.”

— Kevin Schofield (@PolhomeEditor) May 15, 2019

🙄

xyzzzz__, Wednesday, 15 May 2019 09:30 (seven years ago)

What activists?

Matt DC, Wednesday, 15 May 2019 09:34 (seven years ago)

is chuka for real

||||||||, Wednesday, 15 May 2019 09:35 (seven years ago)

chuka are you banky

||||||||, Wednesday, 15 May 2019 09:35 (seven years ago)

This whole debacle is a cautionary tale of trying to politics by media without any kind of proper membership base. The main beneficiaries appear to be the LibDems and that's because they're actually able to get boots on the ground.

Matt DC, Wednesday, 15 May 2019 09:36 (seven years ago)

Media have continuously demonised membership as 'crazy' for the last few years. It seems like some kind of end result

It's so good to see this cunt out of Labour. That he was ever in it is a whole other, deeper, issue.

xyzzzz__, Wednesday, 15 May 2019 09:42 (seven years ago)

"it's a broad church" blah blah blah... good riddance "politically homeless" tory detritus!

in another devastating blow to Corbyn, Bridget Prentice has resigned from not being an MP

Doctor Nu (Noodle Vague), Wednesday, 15 May 2019 09:48 (seven years ago)

A racist peer quit yesterday as well. We now go LIVE to the Leader of the Opposition for his reaction to these developments:

Prentice said "this is no longer the party of Kier Hardy, Clement Atlee and Tony Blair" and i hurt my throat shouting DUUUUUUUUUUH at the radio

Doctor Nu (Noodle Vague), Wednesday, 15 May 2019 09:59 (seven years ago)

I saw Tom Harris, the former Labour MP who turned a 12k majority into an 11k loss to the SNP, was supporting the quitters yesterday, which tells you everything you need to know about how good this is for Corbyn.

A good point, well made

This is that post - that he retained the whip tells you everything you needed to know about Labour c 2011. http://labour-uncut.co.uk/2011/07/25/white-christian-and-right-wing-a-terrorist-liberals-can-hate-with-impunity/

(Also, didn’t Andrew Brevik kill a bunch of young people at a camp for a Norwegian Labour affiliate? Cunt.)

gyac, Wednesday, 15 May 2019 18:31 (seven years ago)

It was the Workers Party Youth summer camp, yeah.

calzino, Wednesday, 15 May 2019 20:04 (seven years ago)

Well, he did gloss over Boer War-era concentration camps in South Africa a few months ago and most UK literary/historical public figures had quite a bit to say about that.

Our Armed Forces personnel hold themselves to the very highest standards. Of course there should be a proper investigation where there is evidence that a serious crime has been committed. 1/2

gyac, Wednesday, 15 May 2019 22:39 (seven years ago)

absolutely abysmal and racist policy. I couldn’t vote for a party if this is their policy and I’d like to hear the leadership’s position on this sharpish pls

||||||||, Thursday, 16 May 2019 09:50 (seven years ago)

Might as well invite Ian Austin + Chuka back to the party and ask Mandelson to pull off the Milne disguise - the game is up. But seriously if they think signalling to floating UKIP voters that they can do racism just as ruthlessly as tory cunts is good politics then they have serious issues - because that is the road back to New Labour 2.0.

calzino, Thursday, 16 May 2019 10:10 (seven years ago)

and it is taking many of their ethnic minority voters for granted in a very Mandelson-esque "they've got nowhere else to go" type of arrogant shitiness.

Brexit Party leader @Nigel_Farage hasn’t written a manifesto so we’ve done it for him, based on statements by him and his candidates. Billboards going up across the country this week. See more at https://t.co/OQ5hfKpVXw (location: Radford Rd, Coventry) pic.twitter.com/iBzXYaXW43

Hoping for Claire Fox poster, along the lines of, "See that 5 year old kid? I'm glad the IRA blew him up, the little bastard had it coming to him", in Warrington and the North West.

Ned Caligari (Tom D.), Thursday, 16 May 2019 12:17 (seven years ago)

As I said in another thread, don't kid yourself that, for most Tories, this amnesty for the armed forces is about anything other than Northern Ireland. Here's our old Territorial Army favourite, Mark Francois,

"After the appalling, tragic events in Londonderry, we all want to see the Northern Ireland executive re-established but that cannot be at the price of some rancid backstairs deal between the Northern Ireland Office and Sinn Fein IRA to sell Corporal Johnny Atkins down the river at the price of establishing the executive."

Corporal Johnny Atkins LOL.

Ned Caligari (Tom D.), Thursday, 16 May 2019 13:07 (seven years ago)

Back from having to clean up some mess caused by Tommy Foreigner.

the braindead fucker certainly has a gift for using terrible phrases, lol!

calzino, Thursday, 16 May 2019 13:12 (seven years ago)

do we have a Group Capt Armitage Shankly in the room?

calzino, Thursday, 16 May 2019 13:14 (seven years ago)

It was January, nineteen-sixty-three
When Corporal Johnny Atkins came home with a gift for me
He said I bought it for you because I love you
And I bought it for you 'cause it's your birthday, too
He was so very nice, he was so very kind
To think of me at this point in time
I used to think of him, he used think of me
He told me to close my eyes
My gift would be a great surprise
I saw tears were in his eyes
He never meant to hurt me
Oh, God, Corporal Johnny Atkins, don't point that gun at me
There's so many ways our lives have changed
But please, I beg, don't do this to me
Corporal Johnny Atkins, don't point that gun at me
Can I save my life at any price?
For God's sake won't you listen to me?

Labour is a party of human rights defenders. We cannot allow British citizens to get away with war crimes if they are guilty. This would undermine the UK's global reputation for upholding the rule of law, threaten peace in NI, and damage the professionalism of our Armed Forces.

— Paul Sweeney MP (@PaulJSweeney) May 15, 2019

Ahead of UQ at 10.30am on proposed amnesty for soldiers who served in The Troubles, we have asked the Labour frontbench to make it clear that we do not support a statute of limitations

Victims & their families are entitled to justice and closure where crimes have been committed https://t.co/hJ7edZhWG5

I’m well behind on news this month but I’m glad there’s organised and furious opposition to this.

gyac, Thursday, 16 May 2019 13:22 (seven years ago)

Is this actual Labour policy or has someone just been dribbling a load of half-formed ideas onto social media again?

Matt DC, Thursday, 16 May 2019 13:25 (seven years ago)

if she was going off-piste surely someone would have told her to retract it by now?

calzino, Thursday, 16 May 2019 13:41 (seven years ago)

She has seemed almost entirely unaccountable since she was appointed. I'd guess that someone was in touch with her last night about softening her message but nothing other than a proper retraction will work. You can't really fudge:

1. Do you think British soldiers should be accountable for war crimes?
2. If not, do you think foreign soldiers should be accountable for war crimes?

It's either yes or no and her current position around 'vexatious' claims is nonsensical.

ShariVari, Thursday, 16 May 2019 13:58 (seven years ago)

She was a chicken-coup resigner as well, presumably brought back into the fold as a sop to the melts. That worked well.
